This is the more technical part of the configuration window. Generally, you can use the default
options selected when MyVoice has been installed. However, you may have to modify some

• Use your system’s DirectX settings:
When MyVoice needs to use your audio hardware for playing or recording audio files, i

DirectX® filters and codecs installed by other software are active when this option is

selected default configuration during the installation of MyVoice.

It is the selected configuration mode during the installation of MyVoice.

DirectX® effects for vocals :
You may have noticed that when you click on the button

effect from the main interface is replaced with a button
named “DirectX® FX”
This button lets you use DirectX® effects already installed in your system.
Note: these effects will be applied only to the vocals, not to the music.
Important: IPE Music is not responsible for any problem caused by third party DirectX effects.
When you click on the DirectX® icon ( or the button “DirectX® FX”), the following window appear:
Simply click on the button “Add” to insert an effect. Then add it into the list and click on the button
“Settings” to configure it.
Note : when MyVoice is playing music, only the “Settings” button is active. You cannot modify the
list of DirectX® effects while MyVoice is playing audio.
The order of the inserted effects is important (a distortion effect will have a different impact when
inserted before a flanger or of after it for example). So you can use the “Move up” and “Move down”
buttons to reorder your effects.
The same applies to the MyVoice effects. You can choose to insert the DirectX® effects before or
after MyVoice effects.
Note: When you click on the “Add” button, MyVoice shows you the list of all the DirectX® effects
installed onto your system. It may be that no effects are displayed, as you don’t have any installed.
There are hundreds of free and commercial DirectX® effects available from music dealers or on the
Internet.

Note regarding the file names of your lyrics files: if you want the lyrics window to
automatically select the lyrics file corresponding to the current listening audio track, you have to
give a file name corresponding to this title (when you save a lyrics file, MyVoice suggests this by
default). You can of course save the file under a file name of your choice, but MyVoice will no

critical when you use the lyrics in full screen mode. While in this mode you don't have access to

Entering and modifying texts
By clicking on the ‘Words’ button from the Lyrics window, the following dialog box opens :
How modifications to lyrics affects time positions:
1) If you’re entering lyrics from scratch: new texts
entered will get time positions (markers that tell no
voice where lyrics are sung in relation to the music)
automatically calculated from the total length of the
current title.
Unlike MIDI karaoke files that contain helpful dat
used to correctly position the lyrics, no suc
information is present in this case. You will have
then to correct these positions created automatically
while entering new texts. More on this later in this
chapter.
2) If your lyrics file already has text entered and you don't add or delete whole lines of text: time
positions are not modified in this case.
3) If your lyrics file already has existing text and you add or delete whole lines: time positions are
modified and you will have to correct these
positions.
Each line of text represents one line shown in the lyrics window (either in window or full screen mode).
That is why we suggest you to enter phrases instead of syllables.
• The Paste button lets you paste text that has been copied using the Windows Clipboard (from a
web page for example).
• The Import button lets you import different kinds of files: text (*.txt), MIDI (*.mid), Karaoke
(*.kar) or MyVoice lyrics files version 1.0 to 1.2 (*.dat)
• Note: when you import MIDI (*.mid), Karaoke (*.kar) or MyVoice lyrics files version 1.0 to 1.2

you will have in this case to define the temporal positions automatically created.

Generic notes and recommendations :
MyVoice effect inactive :
You can use MyVoice as a regular CD player.
MyVoice effect active :
Click on the MyVoice effect button and hide the vocals on CD tracks in real time. The vocals can be
muted and, with tweaking, totally cancelled.
Recommendations for your audio hardware :
The hardware on which you mix is very important. Each loud-speaker or audio sound card has its own
"sound color". The result given by MyVoice is dependant of your hardware configuration. To get the
best result, click on the effects button of MyVoice and try to change your settings according to the
current audio track. Also try MyVoice’s equalizer to change the musical 'color' if it is neccessary.
Recommendations regarding your audio CD’s :
This new technology is accurate enough on a very large number of audio CD titles, excepting live
records and/or some old records. If the results on a track on a particular CD aren’t suitable, don't spend
too much time on other tracks on the same album – there’s every chance that they will yield poor
results too. MyVoice lets your generate a huge number of karaoke backing tracks. It will usually leave
only a small part of original vocals that will be impossible to hear as soon as you will sing over it.
Plus, after having burned your work on a audio cd , the result when heard through a home audio
system will be even better.
The equalizer
To give a new color to your recordings and refine your sound settings use the 10 band graphic
equalizer in MyVoice.
Tip
: Try to identify which bands you want to modify before making big changes. To do this, set all
bands to their minimum values, and raise the value of each one by one. You will notice which bands
are strongest and weakest Reset the controls proceed with your fine tuning.
Reverb
Reverberation is critical to a professional sounding mix. It provides a way to give more depth to the
music, and also to hide any small impefections. Good reverb must sound natural. Don't over-do it !
Moving windows
In MyVoice, you can move a window by simply clicking on a non-reactive area and by dragging the
mouse without releasing the button.
