Up to 80% of nearfield studio monitors speakers now being sold are selfpowered.
This recent change to powered monitor speakers for studio remix, with two
or more pairs typically being used for comparison purposes, has created the need
for a simple, effective line level speaker switcher.
The Pro Co Switch Witch is such a device, allowing the user to select up to
four pairs of speakers from a single balanced stereo line level source.
Housed in Pro Co’s sturdy “Unibox”
unit has all switches on the front panel and all connectors on the back panel. All
ins and outs are on XLR connectors.
The unit is not intended for microphone level switching.
The Switch Witch is an inexpensive, effective method for accomplishing
this most basic of tasks, quickly, quietly and reliably.

The line level selector unit suitable for the connection of four (4) balanced
stereo pairs of powered monitor speakers to the outputs of a balanced stereo line
level source. The selector unit has two (2) female XLR connectors for connection
to the line source and eight (8) male XLR connectors for connection to the
powered monitors. All three (3) pin XLR connectors will be located on the rear
panel and shall be wired with pin 2 “hot” or in phase with respect to the input, and
pin 3 “cold” or anti-phase. The pin 1 “ground” of the male XLR connectors (outputs)
are bussed together with all of the associated pin 1 “grounds” of the female XLR
connectors (inputs) in its circuit, either left or right. The switching is
accomplished using four (4) 4PDT miniature toggle switches, located on the front
panel of the unit, allowing any individual output or combination of the outputs to
be fed from the stereo input.
The enclosure is constructed in the Pro Co “Unibox
conforms to EIC rack standards for a single rack space unit. The enclosure shall
be constructed using 16-gauge steel black zinc finish top and bottom plates, black
anodized aluminum front and back plates and black anodized aluminum extruded
side channels. Control functions are identified by laser engraving of the front
and back panels of the enclosure. The enclosure is provided with two (2)
miniature handles on the front panel. The dimensions of the unit are
approximately 4-3/4” D by 19” W by 1-3/4” H (120.7mm D X 482.6mm W
X44.5mm H)
