Congratulations on choosing “Priefert’s Speed Trainer.”
The Speed Trainer by Priefert was developed with the assistance of
8x World Champion Team Roper Speed Williams. This training aid is
designed to improve a competitor’s horsemanship, roping, and their
overall speed in their chosen event.
The stationary”Speedy”model can be set up in any location to allow the
rider to isolate and practice a wide variety of the aspects that make up a
good run.
Made with quality products, the Priefert Speed Trainer is designed to
perform dependably and provide years of service.

Be Alert - Eliminate unsafe habits and risky behavior,
recognize hazards as they exist and read and follow these
Operational Instructions to successfully operate the
Priefert Speed Trainer.
Terminology
“Right” or “Left” as used in this manual is determined by facing forward
in the direction the operator would be seated while in use, unless otherwise
stated.
“NOTE:” provides the operator a brief summary of information that will
assist in operating the equipment.
“IMPORTANT:” denotes that the following content has signicance in the
operation or maintenance of the equipment.
“REMINDER:” provides information previously addressed, but important
enough to address again for equipment or assembly familiarization.
Owner Assistance
If customer service or repair parts are required, contact Priefert
Manufacturing to reach our trained personnel who will assist you with
repair parts and equipment needed to service your Speed Trainer. The parts
on your Speed Trainer have been specically designed and should only
be replaced with genuine Priefert parts. Therefore, should your Priefert
Speed Trainer require replacement parts, contact our Support Center.
Customer Service
Priefert Manufacturing wants you to be satised with your new Speed
Trainer. If for any reason you are not satised with the equipment, the
following actions are suggested:
Contact your Priefert Ranch Equipment dealer and discuss any problems
that you may be experiencing. Allow them the opportunity to assist in
correcting any problems that you may be experiencing.
READ AND UNDERSTAND THESE INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE BEGINNING INSTALLATION.
Follow all safety warnings and recommendations.
Additional information is provided in the Appendix
at the end of this manual.
Using this manual:
This manual provides information necessary to safely and eectively
operate your Speed Trainer. This manual also provides manufacturer’s
recommendation of proper use and operation, as well as, instructions for
height and sensitivity adjustments. Read these instructions completely
prior to use and adjustments, and follow the recommendations to help
ensure safe and eective operation.
The information contained herein was current at the time of printing. These
instructions are a compilation of engineering data and eld experience, and
are designed to help you with proper safety, operation and adjustments.
Your model may vary in design and conguration from those shown in this
manual. There is a possibility that some illustrations in our manuals were
of prototype models. Design of production models may vary in detail from
those shown in our manuals.
Priefert Manufacturing maintains an ongoing program of continuous
product improvement. Therefore, Priefert reserves the right to make
improvements or modications in design, or specication changes without
incurring any obligation to replace said items on units previously sold.
Your Speed Trainer has an instructional DVD, and this manual available
online in PDF format. Both have been designed to assist you in achieving
optimal results with your Speed Trainer.

Safety Alert Symbols
The SAFETY ALERT SYMBOL indicates there is a potential
hazard to personal safety involved and extra safety precaution must be
taken. When you see this symbol, be alert and carefully read the message
that follows it. In addition to design and conguration of equipment, hazard
control and accident prevention are dependent upon the awareness,
concern, prudence and proper training of personnel involved in the
operation, transport, maintenance and storage of equipment.
Owner/operator can prevent and may be responsible for accidents
or injuries occurring to other people, themselves, and/or property and
equipment.
Thoroughly read and understand the installation, operation, references
and other material supplied with the Speed Trainer. If the installer or
operator cannot read English, it is the owner’s responsibility to explain
this material to them.
Adult Supervision is mandatory during the use of this equipment.
Do not allow untrained people to operate or service equipment.
Warning
Be familiar with the proper use of this equipment prior to operation.
Improper use or use other than intended by the manufacturer can lead
to injury or death.
Safety Practices
The Speed Trainer is a tool to assist in the training of roping skills and
should be used for that purpose only. Therefore, Priefert requires that
anyone using the Speed Trainer be familiar with functions and adjustments
to provide the best and safest results.
Follow these guidelines when using the Speed Trainer:
• Do Not Attempt to tow the Speed Trainer, or propel it in any manner.
The Speed Trainer is designed for stationary use only.
• Do Not use the Speed Trainer on hills, or attempt to roll during use.
• Use the Speed Trainer on solid, level surface, such as hard-packed road
surface or concrete.
• Never use the Speed Trainer on soft surface ground or on arena base.
The Speed Trainer is not stable on soft surfaces.
• Never allow children to use the Speed Trainer without adult supervision.
• Never allow more than one person on the Speed Trainer at any time.
• Always use a saddle. Always fasten the saddle securely.
• Never attempt to raise or lower while seated on, or while others are
seated on the Speed Trainer. Make all adjustments prior to mounting
the Speed Trainer.
• Keep hands and feet clear of moving parts while adjusting the height of
the Speed Trainer.
• Visually inspect the Speed Trainer prior to use. Make sure all components
are in proper working order. If necessary, make repairs prior to use.
Follow basic electrical safety precautions to protect yourself from
harm and the equipment from damage.
To avoid a shock hazard:
• Make sure all electric cords are in good condition before use.
• Do not exceed 100 feet when using extension cords.
• Connect all power cords to a properly wired and grounded electrical
outlet.
• The Speed Trainer is designed to operate on 110VAC 60Hz current only.
• Disconnect the attached power cords, extension cords or cables after
use.
• Never move or relocate the Speed Trainer while connected to an
electrical power source.
• Do not connect or disconnect any power cords attached to this product
during an electrical storm.
• Never expose Speed Trainer to rain or inclement weather conditions.
Be sure Trainer is dry prior to connecting to any power source.
• Contact Priefert Manufacturing prior to attempting service or repairs to
any electrical component. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
BE AWARE OF SIGNAL WORDS: A signal word designates a degree of level of hazard seriousness.
NOTE: Provides helpful information to the operator.
IMPORTANT: Indicates failure to observe may cause damage to
equipment.

Section 1: Set-Up and Operation
Set-Up of the Priefert Speed Trainer

NOTE: Priefert recommends the Speed Trainer be used
indoors on a solid surface.
WARNING
Do not use the Speed Trainer on soft ground or arena base.
A soft surface can cause the Trainer to tip over or fall, causing
injury or death.
1. Select an area large enough to accommodate the
Speed Trainer & Roping Dummy, with enough area
to comfortably throw a lasso. (See Fig. 1)
2. Select the saddle you are comfortable with and attach
it securely to the Trainer using the D-rings. Several
D-rings are provided to t a variety of styles and sizes
of saddle. It may require additional adjustments to
achieve the best t. (See Fig. 2)
3. Adjust the height of the Speed Trainer to the
approximate height of the horse you intend to rope
from. Turning the handle clockwise will raise, counterclockwise will lower. (See Fig. 3)
4. Use the “Hands in Height” rule to determine the
height. Sometimes it is best to train from dierent
heights to build your skill level. (See Fig. 4)

5. Plug the Trainer in to an appropriate power source. The
power switch toggles in either direction. The singleline activates “Lights Only”. The double-line activates
“Lights & Sound”. Centered is O. (See Fig. 5)
6. Pull back and release the reins to see that the Trainer
is ready for use. Adjusting the bolt next to the power
switch, adjusts the sensitivity of the light activation.
7. When you are ready, mount the
Speed Trainer and begin to swing
your loop.

CAUTION
Do not allow children to operated the Speed Trainer without
adult supervision.
1. When rst beginning to use rope, many riders will pull
on the reins while roping. This can confuse the horse
as whether to stop or go. This is where
the Speed Trainer helps you learn how to
control the horse while not pulling back on
the reins. (See Fig. 6)
2. As you pull back on the reins, the lights
change from Green, to Yellow, to Red.
Lights on the front of the Trainer coincide
with the lights on the back of the head. This
lets you see if you are pulling on the reins,
and how far. (See Fig. 7)
3. If you have chosen the “Lights & Sound” setting, a changing tone will
sound as you pull farther on the reins. This lets you know how far
you are pulling.
4. The true test of your training is to rope the dummy while keeping
the Green light activated. Yellow or Red lights indicate pulling on
the reins.

5. Practice at dierent heights and at dierent distances to improve
your skill.
6. Another important part of practicing with the speed trainer
is spurring the horse. This physical action changes of the
ergonomics and stability of the rider and provides more
realistic practice.

Section 3: Cleaning and Storage
Maintaining the Priefert Speed Trainer
CAUTION
To prevent electric shock, be sure all power sources are disconnected prior to cleaning. Be sure all
surfaces are dry prior to connecting to any power source.
1. Wipe all surfaces with a damp cloth prior to storing. Use mild detergent for additional cleaning.
Do not clean with high-pressure washers. Be sure all surfaces are dry prior to storage.
2. Keep water away from lights and electronics in head section of Trainer.
3. Light lubrication may be required if used in a dirt or sand environment. Inspect monthly and
lubricate if necessary.
4. Never store outside in a weather-exposed area. Store indoors.

Limited Warranties:
Priefert Manufacturing Company, Inc., (“Priefert”) 2630 South Jeerson, P.O. Box 1540, Mount Pleasant, TX 75456-1540, warrants
for one (1) year from the purchase date to the original non-commercial, governmental, or municipal purchaser (“Purchaser”)
and warrants for six (6) months to the original commercial or industrial purchaser (“Purchaser”) that the product purchased are
free from defects in material or workmanship. Priefert will replace or repair, free of charge to the original purchaser any part(s)
found, upon examination at our factory, to be defective under normal use and service due to defects in material or workmanship,
provided that the original purchaser:
a. Noties Priefert in writing of any defect in material or workmanship within the above specied warranty period.
b. Returns must be routed through an authorized Priefert dealer or distributor from whom the purchase was made.
c. Purchaser is responsible for cost of shipping.
In no event will Priefert be held liable under this warranty unless written notice is received and failure must have occurred within
the warranty period. Genuine Priefert replacement parts and components will be warranted for 90 days from date of purchase, or
the remainder of the original equipment warranty period, whichever is longer.

negligence, alteration, modication, or accident, damaged due to lack of maintenance or use of wrong oil or lubricants, or repairs
that have been made with parts other than those obtainable through Priefert, or which has served its usual life. is limited
warranty does not apply to any expendable item such as blades, shields, guards, or pneumatic tires, or other trade accessories
since these items are warranted separately by their respective manufacturers, except as specically noted in your Operator’s
Manual.
Except as provided herein, no employee, agent, Dealer, or other person is authorized to give any warranties of any nature on behalf
of Priefert. Only Priefert is authorized to make any representation to the purchaser concerning “normal” use and service for its
product as described in the Operator’s Manual, or in authorized printed materials or stickers axed to the product.
If aer examination of the product and/or part(s) in question; Priefert nds them to be defective under normal use and service
due to defects in material or workmanship,
Priefert will:
1. Repair or replace the defective product or part(s); if Priefert has made several reasonable number of attempts in repairing the
product and/or part(s) to conform to the warranty; then
2. Priefert will replace part(s) or product.
3. Purchaser is responsible for any labor charges exceeding a reasonable amount as determined by Priefert and for returning
product and/or part(s) to the Dealer, whether or not the claim is approved. Purchaser is responsible for the transportation
cost for the product or part(s) from the Dealer to the factory.
e choice of remedy shall belong to Priefert. Repair or replacement are the only remedies against Priefert under this limited
warranty.
Limitation of Liability:
1. Priefert disclaims any express (except as set forth herein) and implied warranties with respect to the product including, but
not limited to, merchantability and tness for a particular purpose.
2. Priefert makes no warranty as to the design, capability, capacity, or suitability for use of the product.
3. is warranty shall not be interpreted to render us liable for injury or damages of any kind or nature to person or property.
Priefert will not be liable for any special, incidental or consequential damages based upon breach of warranty, breach of
contract, negligence, strict tort liability, or any other legal theory. Such damages include but are not limited to loss of crops,
loss of savings or revenue, cost of capital, loss of use of equipment, facilities or services, down time, expense or loss incurred
for labor, supplies, substitute machinery, rental, and claims of third parties including customers, and injury to property.
Supplementary:
1. Proper venue for any lawsuits arising from or related to this limited warranty shall be only in Titus County, Texas.
2. Priefert may waive compliance with any of the terms of this limited warranty, but no waiver of any terms shall be deemed to
be a waiver of any other term.
3. If any provision of this limited warranty violates any applicable law and is held unenforceable, then the invalidity of such
provision shall not invalidate any other provisions.
4. Applicable law may provide rights and benets to purchaser in addition to those herein.
