ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
• This appliance must be grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape wire for the electric current. This appliance is equipped with a cord containing a grounding wire and a grounded plug. The plug must be inserted into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded.
• Improper use of the plug may result in the risk of electric shock.
• Consult a qualified electrician or service technician if the grounding instructions are not completely understood or if in doubt as to whether the appliance has been properly grounded.
This appliance must be plugged into a 15Amp, 115 Volt, 60Hz GROUNDED OUTLET.
Note: Where a standard two-prong outlet is encountered, it is the personal responsibility and obligation of the consumer to have it replaced with a properly grounded three-prong outlet.
We do not recommend the use of an extension cord with this unit.
Occasionally, there may be power interruptions due to thunderstorms or other causes. Remove the power cord from wall outlet when a power outage occurs. When power has been restored
,
re-plug the power cord into wall outlet.

Energy Saving Ideas
• The freezer should be located in the coolest area of the room, away from heat producing appliances or heating ducts, and out of direct sunlight.
• Let hot foods cool to room temperature before placing in the refrigerator. Overloading the refrigerator. forces the compressor to run longer. Foods that freeze too slowly may lose quality or spoil.
• •Be sure to wrap foods properly and wipe containers dry before placing them in the freezer. This cuts down on frost build-up inside the freezer.
• Freezer baskets should not be lined with aluminum foil, wax paper, or paper toweling. Liners interfere with cold air circulation, making the refrigerator. less efficient.
• Organize and label food to reduce lid openings and extended searches. Remove as many items as needed at one time, and close lid as soon as possible.

Understanding Normal Operating Sounds
• Bubbling or gurgling sounds and slight vibrations are the result of the refrigerant circulating through the cooling coils.
• Sizzling or popping sounds occur during the automatic defrost cycle.
• Dripping sounds occur as ice melts from the evaporator and flows into the water collection tray during the automatic defrost cycle.
• Cracking or popping sounds are caused by the expanding and/or contracting of the cooling coils during the automatic defrost cycle .
Cleaning and General Maintenance
General Interior and Exterior Cabinet Cleaning
1. Prepare a cleaning solution of 3-4 tablespoons of baking soda mixed with warm water. Use a sponge or soft cloth dampened with the cleaning solution to wipe down the interior and exterior surfaces of the cabinet.
2. Rinse with clean, warm water and dry with a soft cloth.
Note: Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasives, ammonia, chlorine bleach, concentrated detergents, solvents or metal scouring pads. Some of these products may dissolve, damage and/or discolor the cabinet finish.
Door Gasket Cleaning
1. Clean the door gasket with a damp cloth every three months. The gasket must be kept clean and pliable to ensure a proper seal.
2. Petroleum jelly applied lightly to the hinge side of the gaskets will keep the gasket pliable and ensure a good seal.
LEVELING
The refrigerator must have all bottom c orners resting firmly on solid floor. The floor must be strong enough to support a fully loaded refrigerator.
NOTE: It is Very Important for your refrigerator to be level in order to function properly.
To Level Your Refrigerator:
After discarding crating screws and wood base, use a carpenter’s level to level the refrigerator from front-to-back.
Temperature Control
The temperature is controlled by adjusting the temperature control Knob.
Larger numbers indicate lower temperatures, smaller numbers indicate higher temperatures.
The OFF position will cause the compressor to stop. During winter months the ambient temperatures are lower
and may cause excessive cooling inside the refrigerator. To prevent this, the temperature setting knob should be set between 4~6.
During the summer when the ambient temperatures are higher, the temperature setting knob should be set between 3~1.
First Use
When operating the refrigerator for the first time, allow it to empty (without any food) until it autos tops at the desired temperature –t his usually takes 2 or 3hours – then set the thermostatic dial to the desired setting and load the refrigerator.
Defrosting
Defrost the freezer compartment whenever the layer of frost on the surface of the evaporator reaches 3 or 4 mm.
When defrosting remove all food and ice cube trays. Set the thermostat at the “OFF” position. Put the drip tray under the evaporator to collect melted
water. After the
frost has melted, discard the melted water and dry the interior of the refrigerator. The refrigerator can then be restarted by turning its thermostat to the desired setting.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Try the solutions suggested here first in order to avoid the cost of an unnecessary service call.
Your refrigerator will not operate
• Is the power supply cord unplugged? Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet.
•
Has a household fuse blown, or has a circuit breaker tripped?
Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. If the problem continues, call an electrician.
• Is the Temperature Control turned to the OFF position?
See “Using the Control(s).”
There is water in the defrost drain pan
• Is the refrigerator defrosting? The water will evaporate. It is normal for water to drip into the defrost pan.
• Is it more humid than normal? Expect that the water in the defrost pan will take longer to evaporate. This is normal when it is hot or humid.
The motor seems to run too much
• Is the room temperature hotter than normal? Expect the motor to run longer under warm conditions. At normal room temperatures, expect your motor to run about 40% to 80% of the time. Under warmer conditions, expect it to run even more of the time.
•
Has a large amount of food just been added to the refrigerator?
Adding a large amount of food warms the refrigerator. It is normal for the motor to run longer in order to cool the refrigerator back down. See “Refrigerator
Features.”
•
Are the doors opened often?
Expect the motor to run longer when this occurs. In order to conserve energy, try to get everything you need out of the refrigerator at once, keep food organized so it is easy to find, and close the door as soon as the food is removed.
• Is the control set correctly for the surrounding conditions?
See “Using the Control(s),” depending on the model.
•
Are the doors closed completely?
Push the doors firmly shut. If they will not shut all the way, see “The doors will not close completely” later in this section.
NOTE: Your new refrigerator will r un longer than your old one due to its high-efficiency motor.
The refrigerator seems to make too much noise
• The sounds may be normal for your refrigerator.
See “Normal Sounds.”
The doors will not close completely
• Are food packages blocking the door open?
Rearrange containers so that they fit more tightly and take up less space.
• Are the gaskets sticking to the cabinet?
Page 7
The gaskets and the surface that they touch should be clean of oil and dirt and the surface that they touch. Rubbing a thin coat of paraffin wax on the gaskets after cleaning will cleaning.
• Were the doors removed during product installation and not properly replaced?
Remove and replace the doors according to “Refrigerator Doors,” or call a qualified service technician.
