IMPORTANT
Installer and Users please note:
These instructions should be read carefully and left with the
user of the product for future reference.
INSTALLATION.

wall. Ensure that the air inlets (on the sides) and the air

Place the unit where the temperature will not fall before 5°C
(41°F) (The internal cooling coil becomes covered with ice
below that temperature, which reduces performance).
Place the unit away from any source of heat.
The dehumidifier works best in an enclosed area: closing
doors and windows will improve the efficiency of the
dehumidification process.
Do not use outdoors.
Plug the mains lead into a 13 Amp mains socket.
If connecting via an extension lead, make sure that the lead
is rated at 6 Amps or more, and that it is fully unwound.

OPERATION
The dehumidifier should not be operated by young children.
Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do
not play with the dehumidifier.
•
Switch the unit on at the mains socket.
•
When first using the dehumidifier, operate continuously for
24 hours - this maximises the efficiency of the unit.
•
If the unit is switched off, always wait for 3 minutes before
switching on again - this allows the compressor to settle.
Press the power button (1) to switch the unit on and off. The
power button illuminates green when the dehumidifier is
switched on.
For continuous operation press the
"continuous" button (2).
The + and - buttons (3) set the
desired humidity level in the room
(a lower number is drier). The level
can be set between 35% and 80%
in 5% intervals.

Maintenance
Disconnect the unit from the mains supply before carrying out
any maintenance.
Cleaning:
Clean the outer casing with a damp cloth with a little mild
detergent such as washing-up liquid. Do not use abrasives,
or solvents other than water.
Every few weeks, clean the water bucket with a little mild
detergent to prevent growth of mould, mildew and bacteria.
Do not clean in a dishwasher.
Removing the collected water:
The EH1220 removes water vapour
from the air to lower the humidity.
The water that is removed is
collected in a bucket inside the unit.
When the bucket is full, the unit will
stop, and the "water full" light will
illuminate, and the display will show
"P2".
Slowly pull out the bucket - use the
hand grip at the bottom of the bucket
and pull straight out to avoid spillage.
Dispose of the water down a drain,
and replace the bucket. The bucket
must be in place and secured before
the dehumidifier will operate. It will
start a few seconds after the bucket
is correctly inserted.
2. Hold the bottom of the bucket
with one hand and pull gently
backwards then up to remove.
3. Pour the water out and
replace.

User Guide EH1220
If the unit is to be used unattended for long periods of time,
then it would be an advantage not
to have to empty the bucket
repeatedly. If so, it is possible to
connect the unit permanently to a
drain.
Cut the plastic blanking plug
located at the side of the machine,
and attach a 16mm internal
diameter drain hose to the outlet, and place the other end of
the hose into a drain. It is essential that the pipe slopes
downwards continuously, and no part of the pipe is higher
than the outlet in the EH1220.
Cut out the plastic
cover, then push
the hose onto the
drain hose outlet
that is behind it.
Cleaning the air filter:
The air filter should be checked at
least once a month, and cleaned if
necessary.
1. Open the air filter cover upwards,
and then remove the filter, by pulling
it outwards and downwards.
2. Wash the air filter by immersing it
into hand-hot water with a mild
detergent (such as washing up
liquid).
3. Rinse in warm water, and dry out
of direct sunlight.
4. Insert the air filter into the unit
locating the top lugs first, then
pushing the bottom in. Make sure
that it is pushed behind the outer
grille, as it may otherwise prevent the
outer grille from clipping in properly.
Do not operate the dehumidifier without an air filter as
accumulated dirt and dust will reduce performance.

User Guide EH1220
The EH1220 is also fitted with a High Efficiency Particulate
Air (HEPA) filter, which removes 99.97% of particles >0.3µm.
It is recommended that the HEPA filter is replaced once or
twice a year, depending on how often the unit is used, and
whether it is used in a dusty atmosphere.
To replace the HEPA filter:
1. Remove the washable nylon filter as described on the
previous page.
2. Remove the HEPA filter from the
frame (behind the washable filter)
3. Insert a new HEPA filter into the lugs
on the frame.
4. Refit the washable filter (as
described on the previous page)
Storage
Before putting the unit into storage, allow the unit to stand for
24 hours so that all the water can drain into the bucket, then
empty the bucket. Clean the bucket with mild detergent.
Store the unit upright in a dry place.
Faultfinding.
•
Unit fails to start:
Check the mains supply, check that the plug is pushed firmly
into the mains socket, and check the fuse in the mains plug.
•
Unit operates noisily:
Check that the air filter is not clogged.
Check that the unit is placed on a LEVEL surface.
•
Humidity is not removed from the air:
Allow time for the unit to remove the moisture.

User Guide EH1220
Make sure that the humidity control is set to a low enough
RH value.
Make sure that the air intakes and exhausts are not blocked.
Make sure that doors and windows are closed.
Remove sources of water vapour such as gas heaters or fish
tanks.
The unit will not operate efficiently below 5°C.
If the room is larger than 17m2 a more powerful dehumidifier
may be required.
•
Frost appears on the unit's coils
This is normal
•
Water on the floor
Unit is not on a level surface, and the bucket is overflowing.
If using continuous drainage, the hose is kinked, blocked or
not sloping downwards.
