UNIVERSAL STRAP KIT

Kit includes: 3" x 20' Strap with Hook (1) Strap Plate (1) Button Screw (2) Lock Washer (2)
The Universal Strap Kit is available for units with the universal spool shaft.
NOTE: Strap is rated for a working load of 2000 lbs. with a minimum breaking strength of 5500 lbs.
1. Extend the cable out completely and remove from winch.
2. Disconnect the power cable.
3. Remove the winch cover. Follow the directions in the service manual for the model winch being worked on.
4. Remove the level wind plate.
4.1. For models with a top mounted level wind plate:
4.1.1. Using a punch and hammer, bend the locking tab of the level wind plate down to clear the
mounting shaft.
4.1.2. Using a pry bar, remove the plate from the frame cross member.
4.2. For models with a bottom mounted level wind plate:
4.2.1. Remove the screws or drill out the rivets from the bottom of the frame.
4.2.2. Remove the level wind plate and reattach any components that were previously attached
with the plate.

5. Rotate the spool shaft to place the flat side up.

6. Slide the strap plate into the open loop of the strap.
7. Attach the strap and strap plate to the spool shaft using the two (2) screws and washers as shown.
8. Reattach the covers.
9. Wind the strap onto the cable spool. Ensure strap winds over the top of the shaft and is flat and even.
CAUTION The fasteners on these winches are not designed to hold rated loads independently. Always
leave a minimum of 3-5 wraps of strap on the drum to achieve the rated load values.
