• Always use the handlebar and a properly adjusted shoulder strap with a blade (see ASSEMBLY).
DANGER: CARBON MONOXIDE
Using an engine indoors CAN KILL YOU IN MINUTES. Engine exhaust contains carbon
monoxide (CO). This is a poison gas you cannot see or smell. I f you can smell the engine exhaust, you are
breathing CO. But even if you cannot smell the exhaust, you could be breathing CO.
NEVER use an engine inside homes, garages, crawlspaces, or other partly enclosed areas. Deadly levels
of carbon monoxide can build up in these areas. Using a fan, or opening windows and/or doors will NOT
properly vent CO nor supply adequate fresh air. ONLY use an engine outside and far away from
windows, doors, and vents. These openings can pull in engine exhaust.
6
Even if you use an engine correctly, CO may leak into the home. ALWAYS use a battery-powered or
battery-backup CO alarm in the home. If you start to feel sick, dizzy, or weak after the engine has been
running, move to fresh air RIGHT AWAY. See a doctor. You may have carbon monoxide poisoning.
WARNING: The exhaust from this product contains chemicals known to th e State of California to cause
cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
WARNING: This engine may emit highly flammable and explosive gasoline vapors, which can cause
severe burns or even death if ignited. A nearby open flame can lead to explosion even if it isn’t directly in
contact with gasoline.
• Do not operate near an open flame.
• Do not smoke near the engine.
• Always operate on a firm, level surface.
• Always turn engine off b efore refu eli ng. All ow engine to cool for at least 2 minutes before
removing fuel cap. Loosen cap slowly to relieve pressure in tank.
• Do not overfill fuel tank. Gasoline may expand during operation. Do not fill to the top of the tank.
Allow for expansion.
• Always check for spilled fuel before operating.
• Empty fuel tank before storing or transporting the engine.
WARNING: This engine produces heat when running. Temperatures near exhaust can exceed 1500F
(650 C).
Do not touch hot surfaces. Pay attention to warning labels on the engine identifying hot parts of the
machine.

cause blood vessel or nerve damage in the fingers, hands, and joints of people prone to circulation
disorders or abnormal swellings. Prolonged use in cold weather has been linked to blood vessel damage
in otherwise healthy people. If symptoms occur such as numbness, pain, loss of strength, change in skin
color or texture, or loss of feeling in the fingers, hands, or joints, discontinue the use of this tool and seek
medical attention. An anti-vibration system does not guarantee the avoidance of these problems. Users
who operate power tools on a continual and regular basis must monitor closely their physical condition
and the condition of this tool.
Children
Sever injury can occur if the operator is not alert to the presence of children in the immediate area.
Children are often attracted to the mowing activity. Never assume that children will remain where you
last saw them.
1. Keep children out of the mowing area and under the watchful care of a responsible adult other than
the operator.
8
2. Be alert and turn mower off if a child enters the area.
3. Never allow children under the age of 16 to operate the product.
4. Use extra care when approaching blind corners, shrubs, trees, or other objects that may block your
view of a child.

ADD OIL
The product is shipped without oil. User must add the proper amount of oil before operating the product
for the first time. The oil capacity of the engine crankcase is 2.7 fl. oz. For general use (above 40° F), we
recommend 30W, 4-stroke engine oil.
ENGINE OIL RECOMMENDATIONS
Select good quality detergent oil bearing the American Petroleum Institute (API) service classifications
SJ, SL, or SM (synthetic oils may be used). Use the ASE viscosity grade of oil from the following chart
that matches the starting temperature anticipated before the next oil changes.
Engine Oil Temperature R ecom men dat io ns
To add oil, follow these steps:
1. Make sure the product is on a level surface. Tilting the product to assist in filling
will cause oil to flow into engine areas and will cause damage.
2. Remove the dipstick from the engine.
3. Add oil slowly. Do not overfill.
4. To check the oil level, wipe the dipstick with a clean rag. Insert the dipstick into
the oil fill opening without screwing it in. Remove the d ipstick to check the oil
mark.
5. Slowly add more oil and repeat step 4 until the oil mark reaches to the top of
the dipstick. Do not overfill the crankcase.
6. Check for oil leaks. Tighten dipstick firmly.
12
ADD GASOLINE
Fuel tank cap
WARNING: This product may emit highly flammable and explosive gasoline vapors, which
can cause severe burns or even death if ignited. A nearby open flame can lead to explosion
even if not directly in contact with gasoline.
Use fresh (within 30 days from purchase), lead-free gasoline with a minimum of 87 octane rating. Do not
mix oil with gasoline.
To add gasoline, follow these steps:
1. Make sure the product is on a level surface.
2. Unscrew fuel cap and set aside. NOTE: The fuel cap may be tight and hard to
unscrew.
3. Slowly add unleaded gasoline to the fuel tank. Be careful not to overfill. The
capacity of the fuel tank is 20.3 fl.oz. NOTE: Do not fill the fuel tank to the very
top. Gasoline will expand and spill over during use even with the fuel cap in
place.
4. Reinstall fuel cap and wipe clean any spilled gasoline with a dry cloth.
IMPORTANT:
• Never use an oil/gasoline mixture.
• Never use old gasoline.
• Avoid getting dirt or water into the fuel tank.
• Gasoline can age in the tank and make starting difficult. Never store brush cutter for extended
periods of time with fuel in the tank or the carburetor.
• Turn the fuel cock off and drain the fuel from the carburetor.
NOTE: After completing the above preparation, the brush cutter is ready to be started.

crowded into material being cut.
Operating instruction
Blade Thrust is a reaction that only occurs when using a bladed unit. This reaction can cause serious
injury such as amputation. Carefully study this section. It is important that you understand what causes
blade thrust, how you can reduce the chance of its occurring, and how you can remain in control of unit if
blade thrust occurs.
WHAT CAUSES BLADE THRUST – Blade Thrust can occur when the spinning blade contacts an
object that it does not cut. This contact causes the blade to stop for aninstant and then suddenly move or
“thrust” away from the object that was hit. The “thrusting” reaction can be violent enough to cause the
operator to be propelled in any direction and lose control of the unit. The uncontrolled unit can cause
serious injury if the blade contacts the operator or others.
WHEN BLADE THRUST OCCURS - Blade Thrust can occur without warning if the blade snags,
stalls, or binds. This is more likely to occur in areas where it is difficult to see the material being cut. By
using the unit properly, the occurrence of blade thrust will be reduced and the operator will be less likely
to lose control.
14
• Cut only grass, weeds, and woody brush up to 1/2 inch (1 cm) in diameter with the blade. Do not let
the blade contact material it cannot cut such as stumps, rocks, fences, metal, etc., or clusters of hard,
woody brush having a diameter greater than 1/2 inch (1 cm).
• Keep the blade sharp. A dull blade is more likely to snag and thrust.
• Cut only at full throttle. The blad e will have maximum cutting power and is less like ly to bind or stall.
• “Feed” the blade deliberately and not too rapidly. The blade can thrust away if it is fed too rapidly.
• Cut only from your left to your right. Cutting on right side of the shield will throw debris away from
the operator.
• Use the shoulder strap and keep a firm grip on the unit with both hands. A properly adjusted shoulder
strap will support the weight of the unit, freeing your arms and hands to control and guide the cutting
motion.
• Keep feet comfortably spread apart and braced for a possible sudden, rapid thrust of unit. Do not
overreach. Keep firm footing and balance.
• Keep blade below waist level; it will be easier to maintain control of unit.
• Do not raise the engine above your waist as the blade can come dangerously close to your body.
• Do not swing unit with such force that you are in danger of losing your balance.
Bring the engine to cutting speed before entering the material to be cut. If the blade does not turn when
you squeeze the throttle trigger, make sure shaft is fully inserted into the engine.
Always release the throttle trigger and allow engine to return to idle speed when not cutting. The blade
should not turn while the engine is running at idle. If the blade turns at idle, do not use your unit. Refer to
contact customer service.
• Maintain good firm footing while using the unit. Do th is by planting feet firmly in a comfortable apart
position.
• Cut while swinging the upper part of your body from left to right.
• As you move forward to the next area to cut, be sure to maintain your balance and footing.
WARNING: The operator or others must not try to clear away cut material with the engine running or
the blade turning to avoid serious injury. Stop engine and blade before removing materials wrapped
around blade or shaft.
15
MAINTENANCE
WARNING: Disconnect the spark plug before performing maintenance.
CHECK FOR DAMAGED OR WORN PARTS
Contact customer service for replacement of damaged or worn parts.
ON/OFF Switch -- Ensure ON/OFF switch functions properly by pushing and releasing the switch.
Make sure engine stops. Wait 5 seconds before attempting to restart unit to allow switch to reset. Restart
engine and continue.
Fuel Tank -- Discontinue use of unit if fuel tank shows signs of damage or leaks.
Debris Shield -- Discontinue use of unit if debris shield is damaged.
CLEAN AIR FILTER
A dirty air filter decreases engine performance and increases fuel consumption and harmful emissions.
Always clean after every 5 hours of operation.
1. Clean the cover and the area around it to keep dirt from falling into the carburetor chamber when the
cover is removed.
2. Press the tabs on the air filter cover to remove the air filter cover and air filter.
NOTE: To avoid creating a fire hazard or producing harmful evaporative emissions, do not clean filter in
gasoline or other flammable solvent.
3. Wash the filter in soap and water.
4. Allow filter to dry.
5. Replace parts.
REPLACE SPARK PLUG
Replace the spark plug each year to ensure the engine starts easier and runs better. Set spark plug gap at
0.025 inch (0.6 mm). Ignition timing is fixed and nonadjustable.
