If you are currently using an analog TV, you can not just hook up the PowerHD-100 directly to your TV. You MUST have a converter box in order to pick up the new digital format signals o the air. All analog broadcasts will end on June 12, 2009.
If you do not have a converter box, you can purchase them from any local department store. You can also receive $40 coupon credits to apply to the purchase of your converter box by applying at the government sponsored website:

3. Multiple power congurations to accommodate portability or home use.
4. Unique, sleek ergonomic pop-up element design.
5. Internal low noise amplier improves reception by boosting the weakest signals.
6. Low power design allows the PowerHD™ 100 to run for weeks on the same batteries under normal usage. Note: Batteries are not required when using USB or AC adapter power. Battery power allows use in emergencies with portable TVs.
Getting Started
The contents of the package includes the following:
1 – PowerHD™ 100 Antenna 1 – USB to mini USB power cable 1 – AC Adapter 1 – RF Coax cable w/F connector ( 3’) 2 – AA batteries
The PowerHD™ 100 is simple to use and set up. The PowerHD™ 100 can run o standard AA batteries, with the supplied AC adapter, or directly through any powered USB port such as present on a typical laptop or PC. The PowerHD™ 100 automatically determines whether an alternate power source is plugged into the mini USB connector, and will disconnect the batteries as the power source. Therefore, the batteries do not have to be removed when the unit is powered through the mini USB connector. Note that the batteries are not charged in the unit when an alternate power source is connected.

Using Your Antenna
Once you have verified the PowerHD™ 100 is properly connected, open the antenna by sliding the release mechanism located in the front of the unit to the right. This will release the antenna element into the upright position. To close the unit, simply push the antenna element until it locks into the closed position. To turn the power on to the PowerHD™ 100, slide the power switch to the ON position towards the LED. Once power is applied you will see the LED illuminate.
Scanning for Stations
The nal step in the setup procedure is to scan the o the air signals on your TV so you can view them. During this process, your TV will tune to each channel’s frequency and look for a detectable signal. Once found, the local stations are stored in your TV’s memory for later recall. Note that the signal quality in your location may dier. It may require that you try the scanning process more than once to nd the optimal antenna orientation to achieve maximum signal quality.
Note that not all TV sets have the same setup terminology, but the following guidelines will cover the majority of situations. Please refer to your TV instruction manual for more detailed information.
(1) With the PowerHD™ 100 attached per the setup instructions,
go to your TV’s menu mode and select ‘Program Channel’
(2) Select the source as ‘Antenna’, ‘Air’ or ‘External’, not ‘Cable’
(selecting ‘Cable’ will tell the tuner to look for a type of modulation not supported by the PowerHD™ 100).
(3) Next select the type of signal to scan. This is either ‘Digital’ or
‘All’ versus ‘Analog’. Select ‘Digital’ or ‘All’. Do not select ‘Analog’ only as these stations will no longer be broadcast after June 12, 2009. If you have a set that scans ‘All’, you may want to rescan after June 12, 2009 to eliminate the storage of
any analog channels. (4) Select ‘Autoscan’ or ‘Start Scan’ (5) After a few minutes, the scan will complete after which time
you can select the stored channels for viewing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can the USB/mini USB cable be used for other devices? A: The cable supplied is for power only, so it does not have any data
lines. Therefore, it will not work with other devices other than to
power them. Q: What kind of batteries can I use in the PowerHD™ 100? A: You can use any AA form factor batteries, whether Alkaline,
NiMH or Lithium rechargeable. If you use rechargeable
batteries, you must use a separate charger, as batteries will not
charge while in the product. Q: I’ve installed the batteries, but when I turn on the power, the LED
does not come on? A: Make sure the batteries are new and AA type. Check the
orientation of the batteries as shown in the battery compart-
ment , as one or both may be backwards. Q: I have everything hooked up, and the power is on, but why can’t
I get any stations? A: The first thing to check is whether your RF cable is connected
correctly. Make sure that both ends are attached securely.
Reception in different geographic areas will vary. Obstacles and
terrain in addition to building structural materials may adversely
affect your reception. Please consider these factors during
installation and setup. Also, if the location of your antenna has
changed, you may need to perform a rescan on your tuner or TV.
Please refer to the previous sections on tuning if you are
unfamiliar with this process. Q: I have completed the scan. Why am I getting a snowy picture?
A: A snowy picture is an indication that your tuner input is set to
analog or cable input. This is not the correct setting to receive
digital broadcasts. Please refer to the tuning section of this
manual and your tuner manufacturer’s instructions for details. Q: Why is the RF cable that is provided so short?
A: The antenna was designed initially as a portable device. You can
use any low cost 6-12’ shielded RF coaxial cable without affecting
the performance.
