4 SYMBOLS
In this manual and/or on the machine the following symbols are used:
Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow all warnings and instructions
may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for
future reference. The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains operated (corded)
power tool or battery operated (cordless) power tool.
6 BEFORE START-UP, NOTE THE FOLLOWING!
▪ The pump can be connected to any shock-proof plug which has been installed according
to regulations. The plug must have a supply voltage of 230 V ~ 50 Hz. Fuse min. 6 Amp.
Caution!
When the pump is to be used near swimming pools or garden ponds and in their area of
protection, it must be equipped with a PRCD (residual current circuit breaker) with a nominal
trip current of max. 30 mA (according to VDE 0100, part 702 and 738). The pump must not be
operated while people are in the swimming pool or in the garden pond! Please contact your
electrician!
Attention!
(Important for your own security) Before starting to run your new submersible pump, please
have the following items checked by an expert:
▪ Ground connection
▪ Zero conductor
▪ Fault current breaker switch must correspond the safety regulations of the power plants
and they must work faultlessly.
▪ The electrical connections must be protected from moisture.
▪ If there is danger of flooding, the electrical connections must be taken to higher ground.
▪ Circulation of aggressive fluids, as well as the circulation of abrasive materials must be
avoided at all costs.
▪ The submersible motor-driven pump must be protected from frost.
▪ The pump must be protected from running dry.
▪ Access on the part of children should also be prevented with appropriate measures.
Consistency
Your submersible pump is designed for the circulation of water with a maximum temperature
of 35° C. This pump may not be used for other fluids, especially motor fuels, cleaning fluids,
and other chemical products!
7 INSTALLATION
This pump is designed for exclusively domestic installation:
▪ In places where there is a risk of flooding.
▪ In sumps or wells.
Keep an empty space around the pump so that the float switch can work without being
blocked (e.g. use a sump at least 40x40x50 cm).
The pump is designed to run in liquid not exceeding 35 °C.
It can be installed:
▪ With either a fixed conduit.
▪ Or a flexible conduit.
It must be fixed by the handle provided for the purpose or set at the bottom of the sump (it
must be clean with no impurities or sludge)
If water level is low (long period of drought), be careful to ensure that any impurities or sludge,
after drying, do not prevent the pump from starting up. Consequently, you must make sure that
the site where the pump is installed is clean and run the pump from time to time.
The pump must always be used in the upright position (the handle on top), it is recommended
to secure the pump by attaching a rope (or similar item) to the handle and the other end to an
easy accessible static object.
Before starting up the pump make sure that:
▪ The pump is to be powered by a residual differential current device, with a rated operating
differential current not exceeding 30 mA.
▪ The mains supply voltage matches the voltage indicated on the pump identification plate
(230v~/50Hz).
Ask your specialist electrician for advice.
Make sure that the fuse protecting the power outlet is at least 6 amps.
Warning! If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by a
professional to avoid the risk of danger.
9 COMMISSIONING
After installing the pump as indicated in these instructions, it is ready to work.
10 SERVICING!
▪ Disconnect the power outlet before making any adjustments or performing servicing
operations.
▪ The pump does not require any specific maintenance but for longer life we recommend
that you check and clean the area in which the pump is installed (every three months, for
example).
▪ For temporary use, clean the pump with clean water after using it.
11 CLEANING THE TURBINE
Remove the plug from the power outlet before cleaning operations start
If there are heavy deposits in the pump body, the lower part must be dismantled as follows:
▪ Remove the 7 screws from the lower side of the suction basket.
▪ Detach the suction basket from the body of the pump.
▪ Clean the pump with clean water.
Warning! Do not put down the pump on the turbine nor hold it by this point
either!
▪ For reassembly, repeat the above operations in reverse order.
12 SETTING THE SWITCH POINT
The float switch point can be set by adjusting the notches.
Check the following points before switching on:
▪ The float switch must be installed so that the switch point level can be reached easily with
very little effort. Make sure of this as follows: immerse the pump in a container full of water
and lift the float switch carefully by hand, then lower it. You can thereby check that the
pump starts and stops.
▪ Make sure that the gap between the head of the float switch and the float switch
anchorage device is not too small. If the gap is not wide enough, perfect operation is not
guaranteed.
▪ Concerning adjustment, make sure that the float switch does not touch the floor before the
pump has stopped. Warning! Risk of running dry.
▪ To modify the starting level, slide the float cable into the notch provided for the purpose on
▪ Damaged switches must be replaced by our after-sales service department.
▪ If the connecting cable (or mains plug) is damaged, it must be replaced by a particular
connecting cable which is available from our service department. Replacement of the
connecting cable must only be carried out by our service department (see last page) or by
a qualified person (qualified electrician).
16 STORAGE
▪ Thoroughly clean the whole machine and its accessories.
▪ Store it out of the reach of children, in a stable and secure position, in a cool and dry
place, avoid too high and too low temperatures.
▪ Protect it from exposure to direct sunlight. Keep it in the dark, if possible.
▪ Don’t keep it in plastic bags to avoid humidity build-up.
▪ This product is warranted as provided by law for a 36-month period effective from the date
of purchase by the first user.
▪ This warranty covers all material or production flaws. It does not include defective parts
subject to normal wear & tear such as bearings, brushes, cables, and plugs, or
accessories such as drills, drill bits, saw blades, etc. ; damage or defects resulting from
maltreatment, accidents or alterations; nor the cost of transportation.

result of negligent maintenance or overload.
▪ Definitely excluded from the warranty is damage resulting from fluid permeation, excessive
dust penetration, intentional damage (on purpose or by gross carelessness), inappropriate
usage (use for purposes for which the device is not suitable), incompetent usage (e.g. not
following the instructions given in the manual), inexpert assembly, lightning strike,
erroneus net voltage. This list is not exhaustive.
▪ Acceptance of claims under warranty can never lead to the prolongation of the warranty
period nor commencement of a new warranty period in case of a device replacement.
▪ Devices or parts which are replaced under the warranty therefore remain the property of
Varo NV.
▪ We reserve the right to reject a claim whenever the purchase cannot be verified or when it
