5 GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS
Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow all warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains operated (corded) power tool or battery operated (cordless) power tool .
5.1 Work area
Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause
you to lose control.
5.2 Electrical safety
Always check that the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate of the
charger.
Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any
adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges
and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will
increase the risk of electric shock.
Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power
tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use.
Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device
(RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
5.3 Personal safety
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power
tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as dust mask,
non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used whenever conditions require will reduce personal injuries.
Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off position before plugging in.
Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key
left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.

POWXG8020LI EN
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better
control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and
gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure
these are connected and properly used. Use of these devices can reduce dust related hazards.
5.4 Power tool use and care
Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct
power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that
cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing
accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with
the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or sticking of moving parts, breakage of
parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have
the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting
edges are less likely to stick and are easier to control.
Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance with these instructions
and in the manner intended for the particular type of power tool, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from intended could lead to a hazardous situation.
5.5 Service
Have your power tool serviced by a qualified person using only identical replacement
parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
6 ADDITIONAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR HEDGE TRIMMERS
The Hedge Trimmer must not be used by anyone under the age of 16. Keep children, other people and pets away from the trimmer. Always dress properly. Don’t wear loose clothing or jewelry; they can be caught in moving
parts. Use of rubber gloves and substantial footwear is recommended when working outdoors. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair.
Use face or dust mask if operation is dusty. Do not use the trimmer if the cutting device is not secured properly or is damaged. Before starting the trimmer, make sure that the cutting blade is not touching stones or
debris.
When the trimmer is in operation, keep the cutting section away from all parts of the body. Do not cut against hard objects. This could cause injury or damage the trimmer. Only cut during broad daylight or with corresponding artificial light. When the trimmer is not in use, store it in a dry place so that the blade is not exposed and
out of the reach of children.
Never use the trimmer when it is raining. Try to prevent it from getting wet or being
exposed to humidity.
Avoid unintentional starting. Don’t carry hedge trimmer with fingers on both switches. Copyright © 2014 VARO P a g e | 5 www.varo.com

POWXG8020LI EN
Do not attempt to remove cut material or hold material to be cut when blades are moving.
Make sure trimmer switch is off when clearing jammed material from blades. Do not grasp the exposed cutting blades or cutting edges when picking up or holding the hedge trimmer.
CAUTION: Blades coast after turn off.
Don’t force hedge trimmer, it will do the job better and with less likelihood of risk of injury
at the rate for which it was designed.
Stay alert, watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not operate hedge trimmer
when you are tired.
Maintain hedge trimmer with care, keep cutting blades sharp and clean for best
performance and to reduce the risk of injury.. Keep handles dry, clean and free from oil and grease.
Always fit the blade guard onto the cutting bar if you wish to transport or store your hedge
trimmer

7.1 Advantage of Li-ion batteries.
40% More Performance 40% Less Weight 100% Longer Life 40% More Compact No Memory Effect Environment-Friendly
7.2 Charging Procedure
The charging procedure starts as soon as the mains plug of the charger is plugged into a power socket and the battery (14) is inserted into the charging compartment (13). Thanks to the intelligent charging PCB (Protective circuit board), the charging condition of the battery is automatically detected and the battery is charged in optimum condition. (PCB takes into account : Over Charging/Discharging, Voltage and Current, Battery temperature, Short-Circuit, Overload, Each Cell Unbalance (Out-put, In-put), resulting in continuous optimum Voltage & Current when Charging or Working. This gives longer life to the battery and always leaves it fully charged when kept in the charger for storage.
Charge battery pack only with the charger provided.
Please note : With continuous or several repetitive charging cycles without interruption, the charger can
warm up. This is not harmful and does not indicate a technical defect of the unit.
A battery that is new or has not been used for a longer period does not develop its full
capacity until after approximately 5 charging/discharging cycles. Leave such batteries in the charging compartment until they have clearly warmed up.
A significantly reduced working period after charging indicates that the batteries are worn
out and must be replaced.

7.4 General instructions:
Regarding the battery, in order to maintain the long service life of the battery, always follow the instructions below: The tool will automatically be switched off when the battery voltage is low. The battery
must then be recharged before the tool can be used again.
Always recharge the lithium-ion battery prior to any prolonged period of non-use, i.e. before
storing the tool away in autumn.
The charging time is 1,2 hours for a battery that is completely empty.
The lithium-ion rechargeable battery can be charged at any charge level and charging can
be interrupted at any time without damaging the battery (no memory effect)
8 OPERATION
8.1 Switching on:
Press and hold the safety switch on the front grip (3). And press the on/off button (4) at the same time.
8.2 Switching off:
Release one of the two buttons.
8.3 Cutting hedges
A trapezoidal cut corresponds to the natural, growth of plants and results in optimal hedge growing.
In order to promote thick growth of young hedges, only half of new shoots should be cut. If the hedge has already reached the desired height, new shoots can be completely
removed.
First cut the sides from the bottom to the top. Cut the upper part giving it the shape you
prefer, in a straight horizontal form, roof-like or rounded.
If the blades are jammed or blocked by obstacles, switch the motor off immediately,
remove the battery, and then remove the object jamming the blades.
Caution! Metal obstacles like fences etc. may damaged the cutting blades.
