information required for the safe operation of the product and for the safety
of its users.
This symbol denotes further information on the topic.
DANGER! The endoscopic camera is not approved for human or
veterinary medical applications! There is the risk of life-threatening injuries!
For all personal injury and material damage arising from non-intended use,
the operator, not the manufacturer, is responsible!
DANGER! Children and persons with disabilities
Electrical devices are not suitable for children. Also persons with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities should only use electrical devices in appropriate circumstances.
Never allow children or persons with disabilities to use electrical devices unsupervised,
unless they are instructed accordingly and supervised by a competent person responsible
for their safety. Children should always be supervised to ensure that they do not play with
the product. Small parts can be fatal if swallowed.Keep the packaging
away from children and persons with disabilities.
DANGER! There is a risk of suffocation.
DANGER! Batteries
Insert the batteries with the correct polarity. Never try to recharge the batteries and under
no circumstances throw them into fire. Do not mix battery types (old and new or carbon
and alkaline, etc.). Batteries are not toys! If a battery is swallowed, seek medical help
immediately. Batteries must never be opened or deformed. Otherwise there is a risk of

device is not to be used for an extended period. Improper use could cause explosions or
leaks.
DANGER! Radio interface
Turn the device off when on board an aircraft, in a hospital, in an operating theatre or in
the vicinity of electronic medical equipment. The RF signals may interfere with the
functionality of sensitive devices. Keep the device at least 20 cm (8 inches) away from
pacemakers, as the RF signals could interfere with the functionality of the pacemaker. The
RF signals transmitted can interfere with hearing aids. If wireless mode is switched on, do
not place the device near flammable gases or in a potentially explosive area (e.g. a paint
shop), as the RF signals transmitted could cause explosions or fire. The range of the radio
frequency signals depends on environmental conditions. If data is transmitted via a
wireless connection, it can also be received by unauthorised parties. Targa GmbH is not
liable for any interference caused to RF or TV signals through unauthorised modification to
this device. Furthermore, Targa accepts no liability for replacing any devices that have not
been specifically approved by Targa GmbH. The user is solely responsible and liable for
remedying any interference caused by such unauthorised modification of this device and
for replacing devices.
WARNING!Operational safety
The casing of the endoscopic camera must not be opened, there are no parts requiring
maintenance inside. The device must not be subject to any excessive temperature
fluctuations as this can lead to the moisture in the air condensing and causing short-circuits.
If the device has been exposed to strong temperature fluctuations, wait for it to reach the
ambient temperature before switching it on (about 2 hours).
WARNING!Maintenance/cleaning
Repairs are required if this device has been damaged in any way, for example when
liquid has entered the handle casing, if the product has been exposed to rain or moisture,
if the product does not work normally or if the product has been dropped. If smoke,
unusual noises or smells are noticed, power off the device immediately and remove the
batteries. If this occurs, do not continue to use the device and have it checked out by an
expert. All repair work must be carried out by qualified personnel. Never open the
housing of the device, or the accessories. Only use a clean, dry cloth for cleaning. Never
use aggressive liquids.
8 - English
Powerfix PEKW 8 A1
WARNING! Make sure that:
- the device is not exposed to direct heat sources (e.g. radiators)
- no direct sunlight or bright artificial light reaches the device
- the handle does not come into contact with sprays or drops of water or aggressive
fluids, it is particularly important that the handle is never immersed (do not place
vessels containing liquids (drinks, vases, etc.) next to or on the device.)
- no naked flames (e.g. burning candles) are placed on or near the device
- no foreign bodies can penetrate into the device
- the device is not exposed to any extreme temperature fluctuations as this can cause
moisture through condensation and cause short-circuits. If the device has been
exposed to strong temperature fluctuations, wait for it to reach the ambient
temperature before switching it on (about 2 hours).
- the device should not be subjected to excessive shocks and vibrations
Operating environment
The device is not designed for use in environments with high temperatures or humidity (e.g.
bathrooms) or those with above-average levels of dust. Operating temperature and
operating humidity: 5°C to 35°C, max. 90% relative humidity.

6.1 Inserting or replacing the batteries
Please make sure that your endoscopic camera is switched off. The battery compartment is
located on the rear of the handle.
English - 9
Powerfix PEKW 8 A1
1. Open the battery compartment cover.
To do this, push the cover approx. 5
mm in the direction of the arrow and
lift it up.
2. Insert the batteries into the
endoscopic camera. Take care to
observe the correct polarity (note +
and - in the battery compartment).
3. Close the battery compartment cover.
To do this, place the cover on the
battery compartment so there remains
an approx. 5 mm gap open (the
cover shall glide into the rails on the
handle casing) and then push the
cover in the direction of the arrow
until it slots into place.
6.2 Fitting the smartphone holder
In principle, you can also operate your smartphone or tablet independently of the
endoscopic camera. However, we recommend securing the smartphone to the endoscopic
camera using the smartphone holder so you can operate the device better and see the
camera image better.
10 - English
Powerfix PEKW 8 A1
1. Take the smartphone shell (A) in one hand and the holding mechanism (B) in the
other.
2. Align the 4 lugs on the flat section of
the holding mechanism (B) with the 4
recesses on the smartphone shell (A).
3. Place the 4 lugs on the flat section of
the holding mechanism (B) into the 4
recesses on the smartphone shell (A)
and push the two against one another
such that the 4 lugs engage behind
the recesses and the system catches
into place.
4. Release the two knurled screws (11).
One of the knurled screws (11) can
then be swivelled around 90° so that
the two halves of the grabbers fold
out or can be rotated about the axis
of the other knurled screw (11).
5. Feed the endoscopic camera into the
grabbers until the grabbers fully
encase the thin shaft on the front side
of the handle of the endoscopic
camera.
English - 11
Powerfix PEKW 8 A1
6. Close the grabbers by swivelling the
knurled screw (11) which has been
flapped away back into its original
position. Then carefully re-tighten both
knurled screws (11).
6.3 Inserting the smartphone into the smartphone holder
1. Fold out the two retractile holders (9)
towards the front so the smartphone
can "stand" on them.
2. Place your smartphone in the centre
of the smartphone shell (A). You may
need to press the unlock button (8) to
open the holder arms (7) completely
so that the smartphone fits (it supports
smartphones up to a width of 90
mm).
3. Push the two holder arms (7) together carefully to fix the smartphone in place. Make
sure that the holder arms (7) do not accidentally press any of the side buttons on your
smartphone.
WARNING about property damage
Do not apply force as you push the holder arms (7) together. Doing so
could damage your smartphone or the smartphone holder.
4. Loosen the knurled screw (10) and use the ball joint to position the smartphone so
you can see the display clearly.
5. Re-tighten the knurled screw (10).
7. Getting started
Once you have prepared the endoscopic camera as described in the chapter above, you
can install the app and connect the smartphone to the endoscopic camera.

network “PEKW 8 A1” and connect to it. You are then prompted to enter the network
password.
The procedure for establishing the network connection and entering the
password depends on the smartphone or operating system, but is largely
self-explanatory.
4. Enter the network password 88888888 (eight times 8). The smartphone then
connects to the endoscopic camera.
5. Close the WiFi configuration window on your smartphone.
6. Start the “Powerfix PEKW 8 A1” app. The live image from the endoscopic camera
appears on the smartphone display. If this does not happen, tap the configuration
