NOTE: It is beyond the scope of this manual to cover every possible scenario in which this heater may be
used. Check with your local fire safety authority if there you have any questions about heater use.
1. Carbon monoxide poisoning
a. Ensure the heater is always placed in a well-ventilated area.
b. The use of a carbon monoxide detector (not included) is strongly recommended.
c. Early signs of carbon monoxide poisoning resemble the flu, with headaches, dizziness,
and/or nausea. If you have these symptoms, the heater may not be working properly.
d. Have the heater serviced before using it again.
2. Propane gas
a. Propane gas is odourless. An odour-making agent is added to propane gas.
b. The odour assists in detecting propane gas leaks. However, the odour can fade.
c. Propane gas may be present even though no odour exists.
3. The installation must conform with local codes or, in the absence of local codes, with the
Standard for the Storage and Handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gases, ANSI/NFPA 58 and/or the
Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, CAN/CSA B149.1.
4. Use only the hose and factory preset regulator provided with the heater.
5. Use only propane gas set up for vapour withdrawal.
6. This heater is for indoor use, but must be used in a well-ventilated area with at least 120 sq in.
(774.2 cm2) of fresh, outside air.
7. Do not use the heater in occupied dwellings, sleeping quarters, campers, tents, or any type of
unvented or enclosed area.
8. Do not use the heater in a basement or below ground level. Propane gas is heavier than air. If a
leak occurs, propane gas will sink to the lowest possible level.
9. Do not use the heater as a cooking device.
10. Do not place objects on top of the heater.
11. Keep appliance area clear and free from combustible materials, gasoline, paint thinner, and
other flammable vapours and liquids.
12. Do not use the heater in areas with high dust content, as dust is combustible.
13. The minimum heater clearances from combustibles are listed below.
a. Sides: 12 ft (3.6 m).
b. Top: 12 ft (3.6 m).
14. The legal distances that the heater must be kept away from the propane cylinder(s) are listed below.
a. Canada: 10 ft (3 m).
b. United States: 6 ft (1.8 m).
15. Keep the propane cylinder(s) below 38° C (100° F).
