Subwoofer

The 3XL range of subwoofers is innovative
in that it is designed to work with the new
generation Class "D" amplifiers. Class "D"
amplifiers heat up the woofers voice coil
two to three times hotter and faster than a
conventional class A/B amplifier. This calls
for Xtreme measures and special parts to
classify these as a true "Class D Subwoofer."
But hey, this is PowerBass. We have it
under control.

First, we use industrial assembly glues that
handle this excessive heat that would
normally tear a conventional speaker apart.
Then there is perimeter venting to allow air
movement over the voice coil built into our
custom CNC cut, cast aluminum basket.
The basket works as a strong support for the
moving mass of the proprietary non-pressed
paper cone body that holds the zirconium­coated poly truss cone that displays the
raised PBX logo.

The 3XL woofers all feature 3" HD BASV
voice coil formers that are anodized black to
help dissipate heat. To allow full movement
of the cone, we utilize an ultra high roll
treated foam surround that increases the
cone area for higher output along with
linear cone stability throughout the
subwoofers 3" of linear travel.

The 2XL woofer line is designed for the
audiophile looking for a subwoofer that
works in a small sealed enclosure and
demands tight accurate bass reproduction.

This woofer receives the full treatment,
including perimeter venting built into the
custom CNC cast aluminum basket. A
proprietary COC/graphite cone that is
injected with nitrogen bubbles to give a
very rigid platform for the subwoofer to
work in small sealed enclosures with very
high power handling capabilities.

Our high roll Santoprene surround increases
the cone area and handles the moving mass
of the cone and 2.5” KSV voice coil.

Xtra large motor structures for high power
handling and Pro-lock terminals insure
optimal current transfer from the amplifier
to the woofer for the loudest SPL possible.

Available in 10”, 12”, and 15” sizes with

PowerBass 2XL subwoofers were designed
to be bulletproof-reliable with all of the
features of the rest of the Extreme range, but
in a more affordable package. It boasts a
custom steel basket with a stainless finish
and the distinctive X logo. Perimeter
venting is built into the basket, and a large
motor structure combines to form a strong
base for any high output system. By
utilizing aerospace materials such as a black
zirconium cone for the best distortion-free
bass reproduction, and high roll Santoprene

A/B Class Amplifiers

If you’re looking for raw power, then look no
further. PowerBass’ mission has been to
develop and refine audio products that satisfy
the most demanding enthusiasts. The XA
PowerBass amplifiers deliver pure, clean power.

The XA amplifier starts with a low profile, high
density extruded aluminum heatsink for
maximum heat dissipation. We then add
custom tooled brass terminal speaker and
power terminal blocks for excellent
conductivity, and then offer low level inputs
AND outputs that send a full range signal on to
additional amplifiers for easy system design.

Inside the amplifiers, we use a PWM (Pulse
Width Modulated) switching power supply and
MOSFET transistors for increased output
voltage. To make sure that the proper signal
gets to your speakers, we have an adjustable 12
dB/octave high pass crossover with a range 50
– 250Hz and a low pass crossover with a range
of 40 – 400 Hz to allow for multiple
applications. To get that low bass bump, we
equip the XA amplifiers with an EQ with 18dB
of boost at 45 Hz. As you will find out, the XA
amp will provide your PowerBass speakers
with plenty of clean power.

ensure a quality electronic connection alowing maximum signal transfer.

The D Class range of XA amplifiers are

designed to run subwoofers with less power
demand on your vehicle’s electrical system.
The XA amplifiers come fully equipped with
features to run your subwoofers no matter
what size or the type of music you listen to.
First a 24-dB/octave crossover to cut the high
frequencies out of your subs and concentrate
all of the amplifiers into the subwoofers
intended frequency range. In addition to
cutting high frequencies, we also include a
subsonic filter to cut frequencies too low to be
heard and waste amplifier power. The
included remote bass control allows control of
the volume of the subwoofers when you need
to increase the output of the subwoofers. For
SPL applications, the XA amplifiers can be

Now armed with Titanium alloy tweeters, Dual Gap
technology, Neodymium magnets, proprietary heat
sink motor assembly and 50% larger voice coils, our
new 3XL Series of coaxial speakers are ready to go
toe to toe with the best of the best.

One of the ways to sound the best is to use the
highest quality cone materials available. The highs
are handled by an improved lower profile, pivoting
tweeter now constructed from a titanium alloy for the
ultimate in detailed fidelity. Our 2nd generation
Hybrid Kevlar/Glass Fiber midrange cones are lighter
and more efficient, still giving you accurate sound
reproduction while offering even tighter, controlled
mid-bass.

To insure a seamless transition between the highs
and lows, each speaker is outfitted with its own
internal audiophile grade 12dB crossover circuitry
combined with chrome plated push terminals for
easy connection and exceptional sound.

Other features include our innovative 3-0 impedance
system, Butyl rubber surrounds, stamped steel
baskets with a stainless steel finish, custom finned
heat sink and tuner inspired grills.

what we demanded from our new 2XL range of
coaxial speakers and they will not disappoint! If
you need a high quality speaker yet have a
vehicle with special mounting requirements, this
is the series for you. Whether you need a 4” or a
6x8” coaxial, we can fit most needs. We even
offer a 6.5” thin mount speaker where you want
all the bass but not much space.

The 2XL series also uses the 3-0 system, 3-ohm
impedance for more efficient use of your
amplifier power. With Butyl rubber surrounds,
you get high efficiency and lower bass response
with lower distortion. Our new low profile
pivoting silk dome tweeter and unique 50/50
wool blend midrange cone team up to give you

3XL Series component speakers deliver
increased output without any measurable
distortion thanks to our new Dual Gap
technology. The spun aluminum phase
plug can be removed and replaced by the
tweeter assembly, thus creating the
ultimate coaxial speaker—talk about
flexibility!

The innovations don’t stop there, the
engineers came up with a second
generation Hybrid Kevlar/Glass fiber cone
material, lighter and more efficient then
before while still tough enough to take on
the rigors of the road. We added a cast
basket, neodymium magnet and a 1.5”
voice coil to give you the ability to pound

make the switch from a separate
component system to 2-way coaxials in
minutes! You can choose between a
pivoting or eyeball mount 1-inch silk dome
tweeter as well. The outboard 12dB 2-way

50/50 Wool cone is half wool and half paper
