BED SAFETY
FDA/HBSW Entrapment Zone Mitigation
The Posey Gap Fillers may be useful in addressing FDA/ HBSW identified entrapment zones 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 on many Hospital/LTC/Homecare bed systems. Posey recommends using the HBSW specified bed system measurement tool to determine actual compliance of any installation. Posey Gap Fillers easily fit around the perimeter of the mattress to help eliminate gaps between the mattress and the bed headboard/footboard/side rails to prevent potential entrapment. Zippers allow you to connect multiple Gap Fillers and create a custom length. Three pairs create a border around most mattresses. Made of soft, durable foam. Vinyl cover wipes clean. Meets CA #117, Section E Flame Retardancy Standards.

Gap Fillers
Monitoring
Posey Gap Fillers will not prevent a determined patient from exiting the bed, going over or attempting to go between or through side rail gaps. DO NOT articulate bed if product is applied. ALWAYS follow your facility’s policies and procedures for patient assessment, monitoring and rehabilitation.
Application Instructions:
1. Inspect product prior to use. DO NOT use soiled or
damaged products.
2. Position the Gap Filler with the label towards the
bottom and the zipper away from the mattress.
3. At the selected location, slide the Gap Filler between
the mattress and the side rails (Fig. 1) or the head footboard (Fig. 2).
4. Top of Gap Fillers should not fall below the top surface
of the mattress.
5. Gap Fillers should have a snug fit and should not be able
to slide out of place.
6. If the gap you are trying to fill is wider than 2 inches (5 cm), multiple Gap Fillers can be zipped together to fill
in the gap (Fig. 3).
7. Check for proper fit. Modified beds may not be
compatible with Posey Gap Fillers.

Cleaning Instructions:
Wipe Clean with soap and water or disinfectant.
Disposal
Properly dispose of the product per facility’s
policy for BIOHAZARDOUS materials.
Storage and Handling
This device is designed for use in normal indoor environments. This device may be stored in ambient warehouse temperatures at normal humidity levels. Avoid excess moisture or high humidity that may damage product materials.
