Defined Perimeter Mattress Covers
Posey Defined Perimeter Mattress Covers offer a low intervention solution to many of the
bed safety issues affecting healthcare facilities today. Wedge-shaped foam sections line
the perimeter of the covers and help provide a gentle reminder to those lying in bed of the
location of the mattress edges, and help provide a less restrictive environment than side
rails.
General features of the Posey Defined Perimeter Mattress Covers:
• 15” (38 cm) openings in the mid-section for easy patient entry and exit.
• Quick-release buckles easily secure the Posey Dened Perimeter Mattress Covers to
the bed.
• Wipe-clean denier nylon with urethane coating.
• Zippered foam compartments to facilitate laundering of cover.
• Elastic tted corners.
• Models with breathable nylon covers are ideal for low air loss mattress cover
applications.
• Meets CA #117, Section E Flame Retardancy Standards.

Application Instructions:
1. Inspect product prior to use. DO NOT use soiled or damaged products.
2. Position the mattress cover over the mattress (Fig. 1), making note of the ends labeled
“Head” and “Foot”. Applies to models 5750/5750NC.
3. Thread each of the straps located along the edge of the cover through available
openings in the perimeter of the movable section of the bed frame. This will allow the
cover to remain properly tted to the mattress as the entire bed, head section, or foot
section is raised or lowered. Avoid areas where the straps may interfere with the
lowering and raising mechanism of the bed.
4. Secure the end of the quick-release buckles and tighten the straps securely (Fig. 2).
5. If using a sheet, attach the eight sheet clips, located on the quick-release buckles, to
the sheet (Fig. 3). Applies to model 5750 only.
6. If desired, attach the foot bolster to the mattress cover using the loop strip sewn into
the cover (Fig. 4). Applies to models 5750/5750NC.
7. Check for proper t. Modied beds may not be compatible with Posey Dened
Perimeter Mattress Covers.
Disposal
Properly dispose of the product per facility’s policy for BIOHAZARDOUS
materials.
Storage and Handling
This device is designed for use in normal indoor environments. This device may be stored
in ambient warehouse temperatures at normal humidity levels. Avoid excess moisture or
high humidity that may damage product materials.

Cleaning Instructions:
Wipe Clean. Use mild disinfectant
if required. Air dry. Wipe uid or other
spills immediately for patient hygiene.
DO NOT use cleaners that contain Phenol or
Benzyl.
Cover only. Remove foam sections.
This device is not a substitute for side rails
or other protective devices for patients at
risk of injury from falls due to unassisted bed
exit. ALWAYS follow your facility’s policies
and procedures for patient assessment,
monitoring and rehabilitation. NEVER use
this product with patients in physical
restraints with the side rails down. Serious
injury or death could occur if patient
becomes suspended off mattress surface.
