(SP+). The SP+ is a water resistant, portable, easy to use instrument that uses electri­cal conductivity to determine the Salinity/Specifi c Gravity of natural and/or artifi cial sea water.
The unit rapidly displays Salinity (ppt), Specifi c Gravity (SG) and temperature (Celsius/Fahrenheit), on an easy to read LCD screen. The SP
+
can also be easily calibrated in seconds
using the included Salinity Standard Solution (30ppt).
This device has been factory tested to provide trouble-free performance and contains certifi ed components to ensure safe, reliable and accurate, lab grade results.

Usage Notice
To ensure accurate measurement, clean the sensor tip prior to use, and promptly after measurement.
Upon completion of testing, rinse the sensor with fresh water, and ensure to fully dry the sensor using a clean, dry cloth or sponge. Always keep the sensor dry when not in use.
Use caution when cleaning the platinum sensor. Clean only using a damp cloth or sponge with a neutral detergent.
DO NOT use chemicals such as acetone or benzene to clean any part of the instrument.
Avoid storing the instrument in places of high humidity, or where it will be exposed to direct sunlight, high temperature, dust, or moisture.
Remove the batteries when being stored for extended periods (over one month).
DO NOT submerge the instrument past the sensor connector (white collar).
This device IS NOT waterproof. Water Damage IS NOT covered
under warranty.

The Salinity Pen Plus+ is now ready for use!
It is recommended to recalibrate the Salinity Pen Plus+ before each use.
Calibration of the Salinity Pen Plus
+
Calibration of testing equipment is essential for accurate and consistent results, and your new Salinity Pen Plus+ is no exception. All instruments are tested before they leave the factory however, it is good practice to calibrate your Salinity Pen Plus+ before use.
Calibration Procedure:
Step 1: Turn on the Salinity Pen Plus+ by depressing the
POWER button.
Step 2: Press the Mode button until the display reads PPT.
The calibration procedure WILL NOT WORK if the pen is not in PPT mode.
Step 3: Immerse the tip of the pen in the calibration solu-
tion. NOTE: When not in use, the calibration solution should be stored at room temperature.
Step 4: Press and hold the CAL/HOLD button for 10 full sec-
onds until you see the CAL message display on the LCD.

Measurement:
Keep the sensor at least 0.5” (1cm) away from all edges of the container when measuring.

Rinse the sensor with fresh water prior to measurement.
2. Press the Power Button to turn the device on.
a) The unit displays temperature measurement in real
time. To toggle between Celsius/Fahrenheit press and hold the MODE button for 3 seconds until the unit change is observed on the display.
b) Press the MODE button to toggle between testing modes. Salinity (ppt), Specifi c Gravity (SG) and tem- perature (Celsius/Fahrenheit),
3. Immerse the tip of the sensor into the aquarium water. Shake the sensor back and forth 5 times to remove any air bubbles on the surface of the sensor, which will cause an error of measurement.

5. After measurement rinse the sensor with fresh water, ensure to fully dry the sensor using a clean, dry cloth or sponge. Always keep the sensor dry when not in use.
**WARNING!** Air b ubbles stuck to the sensor after it is immersed into the water will lead to measurement errors.
Always shake the sensor back and fourth fi ve times to remove these bubbles.

Poseidon Flow Technologies warrants to the original purchaser only that the Salinity Pen Plus+ will be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use for a period of (1) year from the date of original purchase if the product used consistent with the User Manual.
The Salinity Pen Plus
+
consists of a Platinum Plated Sensor that will be immersed in the aquarium and the main
unit body that must not be exposed to water at any time. Poseidon Flow Technologies warranty shall not apply:
(i) to any damaged Salinity Pen Plus
+
that has been subjected to accident, misuse, neglect, alteration, acts of God, improper handling, improper transport, improper storage, improper use or application, improper testing or unauthorized repair, (ii) to any Salinity Pen Plus
+
where the main body has been exposed to water or (iii) to cosmetic problems or defects that result from normal wear and tear under ordinary use, and do not aff ect the performance or use of the product. Poseidon Flow Technologies warranty applies only to a product that is manufactured by or for Poseidon Flow Technologies and identifi ed by the Poseidon Flow Technologies trademark, trade name or product identifi cation logo affi xed to the product. , do not attempt to repair it yourself. Any attempts at self-repair shall void this limited warranty. Poseidon Flow Technologies shall not be held liable for damage to any aquarium, aquarium life forms, or other personal objects due to improper use of the device. If the product develops a covered defect within the one-year period, Poseidon Flow Technologies will, at its option, either repair or replace the Salinity Pen Plus

without charge, provided that the
Salinity Pen Plus
+
is returned during the warranty period.

You will receive instructions on how to return the product for repair or replacement. To take advantage of this Limited Warranty you will be required to supply an original point of purchase
receipt.
