Product Description

Polycom® RealPresence Digital Brkout, Camera- Adapter for Videoconferencing Equipment

The Polycom RealPresence Digital Brkout, Camera, is a breakout adapter that allows the digital cameras, the
Polycom EagleEye IV, and the Polycom EagleEye Acoustic, to be broken out into HDMI and Serial (DB9) signals.

Polycom® RealPresence Digital Brkout, Codec - Adapter for Videoconferencing Equipment

The Polycom RealPresence Digital Brkout, Codec, allows the input of HDMI and Serial for control into an HDCI
input on the RealPresence Group Series codecs.

The two EagleEye Digital Breakout Adapters can be used together to extend the distance from EagleEye IV
cameras to the Group Series codecs.

Best Practices and Safe Use

RealPresence Digital Brkout, Camera:

• Use the supplied Polycom power supply (part number 1465-52748-040).

• Verify the polarity of the power supply as shown on the DBA next to the power supply input.

• Use with HDCI Polycom EagleEye IV Camera Cable. Either 2457-64356-001 (3m); 2457-64356-100 (1m), or

2457-64356-018 (457mm).

• Use with certified HDMI compliant cable.

• Use with certified EIA/TIA-RS-232 cable. Use straight-through type, not crossover.

• Do not hot plug the serial cable. Disconnecting or connecting the RS-232 cable during operation may cause

unexpected system behavior. If this happens, cycle the power to the codec or camera to eliminate this issue.

• The signal quality is dependent on the quality of the HDMI and serial signals at the output of the DBA and
associated cables, if the mating device has an equalizer, and the electrical noise in the installed environment.
To ensure proper operation with all devices, the HDMI and EIA/TIA-RS-232 specs should be met at the input
to all mating devices.

RealPresence Digital Brkout, Codec:

• Use with HDCI Polycom EagleEye IV camera cable. Either 2457-64356-001 (3m), 2457-64356-100 (1m), or
2457-64356-018 (457mm).

• Use with certified HDMI compliant cable.

• Use with certified EIA/TIA-RS-232 cable. Use straight-through type, not crossover.

• Do not hot plug the serial cable. Disconnecting or connecting the RS-232 cable during operation may cause

unexpected system behavior. If this happens, cycle the power to the codec or camera to eliminate this issue.

• Polycom tested with cables less than 3 meters in a normal environment. The maximum cable length possible
depends on the signal quality of the HDMI and serial signals at the output of the DBA and associated cables,
if the mating device has an equalizer, and the electrical noise in the installed environment. To ensure proper
operation with all devices, the HDMI and EIA/TIA-RS-232 specs should be met at the input to all mating
devices.

• The following HDMI features are not provided: DDC for EDID support, HDCP, and CEC.

• Without EDID support, digital (HDMI) sources connected to the system must have a mechanism for bypassing

EDID detection, for setting up the video resolution manually, or using a fixed video resolution. Refer to the
Video Format Resolutions table below for supported resolutions.

• The signal quality is dependent on the quality of the HDMI and serial signals at the output of the DBA and
associated cables, if the mating device has an equalizer, and the electrical noise in the installed environment.
To ensure proper operation with all devices, the HDMI and EIA/TIA-RS-232 specs should be met at the input
to all mating devices.

• Includes its own power supply (part number 1465-52748-040 100-240VAC, 1.3A, 50/60Hz; 12VDC at 3.3A.
Verify the polarity of the power supply as shown on the Digital Breakout Adapter next to the power supply
input.

• Operating ambient conditions: Operating temperature 0°C to 40°C, Relative Humidity: 35% to 90% non­condensing @ 40°C.

RealPresence Digital Brkout, Codec:

• Has no active components. Operating ambient conditions: Operating temperature 0°C to 40°C, Relative
Humidity: 35% to 90% non-condensing @ 40°C.

European EMC Immunity standard (EN55024:2010) testing was performed using cables less than 3 meters in
length.

Installation Requirements

Installation must be performed in accordance with all relevant national wiring rules. The outlet to which this
apparatus is connected must be installed near the equipment and must always be readily accessible. The user is
cautioned that any changes or modifications not expressly approved by Polycom, Inc. could void the user’s
authority to operate the equipment. This product is only for use in commercial, and light industrial areas.

Safety Consideration s f or Storage and Transportation

• The RealPresence Digital Brkout, Camera has a seven year period of life. The EagleEye Digital Breakout
Adapter has a seven year period of storage.

• The RealPresence Digital Brkout, Codec has a -30°C to 60°C (-22°F to 140°F), 35% to 90% non-condensing
@ 40°C storage & transportation requirement.

LIMITED WARRANTY Polycom warrants to the end user (“Customer”) that this product will be free from defects in
workmanship and materials, under normal use and service, for one year from the date of purchase from Polycom
or its authorized reseller. Polycom’s sole obligation under this express warranty shall be, at Polycom’s option and
expense, to repair the defective product or part, deliver to Customer an equivalent product or part to replace the
defective item, or if neither of the two foregoing options are reasonably available, Polycom may, on its sole
discretion, refund to Customer the purchase price paid for the defective product. All products that are replaced will
become the property of Polycom.

Replacement products or parts may be new or reconditioned. Polycom warrants any replaced or repaired product
or part for ninety (90) days from shipment, or the remainder of the initial warranty period, whichever is longer.
Products returned to Polycom must be sent prepaid and packaged appropriately for safe shipment, and it is
recommended that they be insured or sent by a method that provides for tracking of the package. Responsibility
for loss or damage does not transfer to Polycom until the returned item is received by Polycom. The repaired or
replaced item will be shipped to Customer, at Polycom’s expense, not later than thirty (30) days after Polycom
receives the defective product, and Polycom will retain risk of loss or damage until the item is delivered to
Customer.

EXCLUSIONS. Polycom will not be liable under this limited warranty if its testing and examination disclose that
the alleged defect or malfunction in the product does not exist or results from:

• Failure to follow Polycom’s installation, operation, or maintenance instructions.

• Unauthorized product modification or alteration.

• Unauthorized use of common carrier communication services accessed through the product.

• Abuse, misuse, negligent acts or omissions of Customer and persons under Customer’s control;

• Acts of third parties, acts of God, accident, fire, lightening, power surges or outages, or other

hazards.

WARRANTY EXCLUSIVE. IF A POLYCOM PRODUCT DOES NOT OPERATE AS WARRANTED ABOVE,
CUSTOMER’S SOLE REMEDY FOR BREACH OF THAT WARRANTY SHALL BE REPAIR, REPLACEMENT,
OR REFUND OF THE PURCHASE PRICE PAID, AT POLYCOM’S OPTION. TO THE FULL EXTENT ALLOWED
BY LAW, THE FOREGOING WARRANTIES AND REMEDIES ARE EXCLUSIVE AND ARE IN LIEU OF ALL
OTHER WARRANTIES, TERMS, OR CONDITIONS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, EITHER IN FACT OR BY
OPERATION OF LAW, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING WARRANTIES, TERMS, OR CONDITIONS
OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, SATISFACTORY QUALITY,
