Introduction

Polycom® Communicator C100S.

The Polycom® Communicator
C100S connects to your
computer’s USB drive, giving you
full-duplex, two-way telephone
conversations over the Internet via
your Skype™ account.

This package contains everything
you need to get started. If you are

Setup

Insert the Setup Wizard CD
included with your package and
follow the onscreen instructions.

When prompted, connect the
Polycom® Communicator C100S
to the port on your computer in the
following manner:

Flip open the back cover of the

Polycom® Communicator C100S unit.
Unwind the USB cable.
Open up the back cover/stand

to its locked position.

(For best acoustic performance, the
unit is designed to stand at a 40º
angle to the surface it rests upon.)

Insert the USB cable of the unit

into a USB port on your computer.

When the unit has been connected,
complete the software and
hardware installation as per the
onscreen instructions.

The Polycom® Communicator is
ready to use after completion of
software and hardware installation.

In order to use the Polycom

®

Communicator C100S, you will
need to have Skype™ installed on
your computer. Go to www.skype.com
to download the latest version
of Skype™.

In order for the Polycom

®

Communicator C100S to function
properly, the microphone and
speaker volume (in Windows
Sounds and Audio Devices)
settings must not be set to “mute”.

The controls on the keypad allow
you to have basic call control
functionality:

Launch the Skype™

application
Answer an incoming call
Hang up a completed call
Initiate a call with a selected

With the Polycom® C100S
Manager, you can test for
microphone, speaker, and LED
functionality.

To launch the Polycom® C100S
Manager, double-click on the
Polycom® Communicator icon
on the desktop and click on the
Diagnostics Tools tab (see below).

In order to use this device, you

will also need to have one of
the following installed on your
computer: Microsoft®
Windows® XP (SP 2), Windows®
Vista, or Windows® 7 OS.

For best acoustic performance,

always use the device with its back
cover/stand opened to the locked
position.

Ensure that the Polycom

Communicator is the device being
used for both microphone and
speaker.

For private conversations, stereo

headphones can be plugged into the
side of the Polycom® Communicator
C100S unit. If you have a set of
desktop PC speakers you can plug
them into the 3.5mm headphone

port on the side of the Polycom
C100S Speakerphone for stereo
sound.

You can use the Windows® Sounds

and Audio Devices screen to adjust
the volume of the microphones and
speaker.

Please note that the Polycom
Communicator automatically becomes
your default Windows Audio Device
(Mic & Speaker) when it is plugged
into your computer.

If you do not want the Polycom
Communicator to be your default Windows
Audio Device you can change your audio
settings by doing the following:

Select “Start” > “Settings” > “Control
Panel” > “Sounds and Audio Devices” >
“Audio” > then select your embedded sound
card from the drop-down menu for “Default
Audio Device”.

If you make this change you will then
need to go to the Skype Application
and make Polycom Communicator
the default sound device for Skype
by doing the following:

Open the Skype Application and select
“Tools” > “Options” > “Audio Settings”.

You can then change the “Microphone”,
“Speakers” and “Ringing” settings to
the Polycom Communicator.

Troubleshooting

If your Polycom® Communicator C100S
buttons do not provide call control as
described in this document, please try
one the following:

Open the Polycom® C100S Manager

and click the Diagnostics link to
access tools that enable verification
of the device controls.

Verify that Skype is configured

to interact with the Polycom

Communicator C100S. Open the
Skype Application and select“Tools”

> “Options” >“Advanced” >”Manage
other programs’s access to Skype

Plug your Polycom® Communicator

C100S into a different USB port on
your PC.

Insérez le CD d’installation inclus dans
le package et suivez les instructions
qui apparaissent à l’écran.

Lorsque vous y serez invité, branchez le
Polycom® Communicator C100S au
port de votre ordinateur de la manière
suivante :

Ouvrez le couvercle arrière

du Polycom® Communicator C100S.
Déroulez le câble USB.
Fixez le dos/support en position

ouverte (les meilleures performances
acoustiques de l’unité sont obtenues
lorsqu’elle est inclinée à un angle
de 40º par rapport à la surface sur
laquelle elle se trouve).

Insérez le câble USB de l’unité

dans un des ports USB de votre
ordinateur.

Une fois que l’unité est branchée,
poursuivez l’installation du logiciel
et du matériel selon les instructions
affichées à l’écran.

Une fois l’installation logicielle
et matérielle terminée, le Polycom®
Communicator est prêt à être utilisé.

Pour pouvoir utiliser le Polycom®
Communicator C100S, Skype™ doit
être installé sur votre ordinateur. Pour
télécharger la dernière version de
Skype™, rendez-vous à la page www.
skype.com.

Pour que le Polycom® Communicator
C100S fonctionne correctement, les
paramètres de volume du microphone
et du haut-parleur (dans Windows,
Sons et multimédia) ne doivent pas
être réglés sur « Aucun son ».

Les commandes du clavier

vous permettent d’accéder aux
fonctionnalités de base de contrôle des
appels :

Pour lancer le Gestionnaire Polycom®

C100S, double-cliquez sur l’icône du
Polycom® Communicator sur le Bureau
et sélectionnez l’onglet Diagnostics
Tools (Outils de diagnostique) (voir
ci-dessous).

Pour pouvoir utiliser ce périphérique,

vous devez également avoir installé

sur votre ordinateur l’un des systèmes

d’exploitation suivants : Microsoft®

Windows® XP (SP 2), Windows® Vista

ou Windows® 7 OS.

Assurez-vous que le périphérique

Polycom Communicator est utilisé pour le

microphone et pour le haut-parleur.

Pour vos conversations confidentielles,

vous pouvez brancher le casque stéréo

sur le côté du Polycom® Communicator

C100S.

Si votre ordinateur possède

des haut-parleurs externes,

vous pouvez les brancher

à la prise casque 3,5 mm pour profiter du

son stéréo.

L’écran Sons et multimédia

de Windows® vous permet de régler le

volume des micros et du haut-parleur.

Veuillez noter que Polycom Communicator
devient votre dispositif audio Windows
(microphone et haut-parleur) par défaut
lorsqu’il est branché à votre ordinateur.

Si vous ne souhaitez
pas définir Polycom Communicator comme
dispositif audio par défaut, modifiez vos
paramètres audio de la manière suivante :

Sélectionnez Démarrer > Paramètres
> Panneau de configuration > Sons et
périphériques audio > Audio > puis
sélectionnez votre carte son intégrée dans
le menu déroulant Périphérique audio par
défaut.

Si vous appliquez ces modifications,
vous devrez ensuite vous rendre dans
l’application Skype et faire de Polycom
Communicator le dispositif audio par
défaut pour Skype en suivant ces étapes :

Ouvrez l’application Skype > Sélectionnez
Outils > Options > Périphériques audio.

Dépannage

Si les boutons du Polycom® Communicator
C100S ne permettent pas le contrôle d’appel
comme indiqué dans ce document, essayez
l’une des méthodes suivantes :

Ouvrez le Polycom® C100S Manager

et cliquez sur le lien Diagnostics

pour accéder à des outils permettant

d’activer la vérification des contrôles de

périphérique.

Assurez-vous que Skype est configuré

pour interagir avec le Polycom

Communicator C100S. Ouvrez

l’application Skype et sélectionnez Outils

> Options > Avancées > Gérer l’accès des

autres programmes à Skype.

Connectez le Polycom® Communicator
