CIMEX ERADICATOR
Read these instructions carefully before using the appliance.
Dear Customer,
Cimex Eradicator provides an innovative and effective method to eliminate the problem of bed bugs. Laboratory tests and field trials have shown that Cimex Eradicator treatment with dry saturated steam heated to 180° C is able to eliminate 100% of eggs and larvae, as well as a high percentage of adult insects. The special Steam Disinfector delivery device allows delivering steam at a temperature of up to 180° C. Steam Disinfector is equipped with a controlled-expansion heat exchange device, Polti world patent, which further heats the steam generated by the Cimex Eradicator boiler to the temperatures reported above. In this way, eggs, larvae and insects die in a few seconds from heat shock. Upon delivery, steam is mixed with the sanitising agent HPMED, a water-alcohol solution that can be delivered in the presence of people, which removes bed bug odours. On designing Cimex Eradicator, our team of experts have provided the device with special tools to make your work safer and more efficient.
The water boiler is made of a stainless steel 18/10 which resists lime scale and corrosion and extends the
Cimex Eradicator is built according to IEC international standards, and it is therefore equipped with a valve, a safety temperature switch and an additional temperature switch for extra protection against dry running. All components and accessories are built with high-quality, heat-resistant materials.

Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested. For this reason, your Cimex Eradicator may contain some residual water in the boiler from the testing.
HHPPMMEED
The characteristics of HPMEd make it the ideal aid to the action of dry saturated steam at high temperatures delivered by Cimex Eradicator. Adding HPMED to the steam flow delivered by Cimex Eradicator allows the removal of eggs, organic traces due to bed bug faeces and the complete elimination of the characteristic bed bug odour from surfaces.
Instructions for use: Fit the disposable bottle into the delivery device following the instructions in paragraph “INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE”.
Switch on the machine following the manufacturer’s instructions. Once the system is ready, distribute the steam and HPMED. Mixed with the steam, the product will normally dry within 30 seconds to one minute, depending on the environmental conditions.
Warnings: Keep out of the reach of children. Do not ingest. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
HPMED is a cleaning product for hard surfaces. Contains <5% non-ionic surfactant. (EEC Reg. 648/2004)

Unscrew the safety cap (B) and fill the boiler with 2 litres of water using the filler bottle (7) (fig. 1). Ordinary tap water may also be used. However, since water contains limestone by nature, which may cause scaling in the long run, we recommend using a 50/50 mixture of tap water and demineralised water. To use tap water only and avoid scale formation, we recommend the addition of special natural descaling agent KALSTOP FP 2003.
Carefully screw the cap back in fully (fig. 2). Ensure that the safety cap (B) is correctly fastened. If not, steam could escape from the opening.
Plug the power lead (I) into a suitable socket with an earth connection.

tarily unguarded, move the safety switch (J) to the off position. To continue steam delivery, move the switch back to its original position.
The first burst of steam may contain some
water droplets, due to imperfect thermic stabilisation inside the flexible hose. We would therefore advise that the first jet of steam is played onto an old cloth until a constant pressure of steam is obtained.
During use, the delivery lamp (L) and the
steam pressure indicator light (G) will light up and turn off. This indicates that the electrical resistor is starting to work to keep the temperature in the delivery device steady. This is a normal occurrence, and it is therefore possible to continue standard operations.
BEFORE TREATING SURFACES, IT IS AD-
VISABLE TO DIRECT THE FIRST JET OF
STEAM ONTO A CLOTH OR DOWNWARDS FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS WITHOUT HOOKING UP THE FITTING FOR THE DISPOSABLE BOTTLE (2). THIS WILL ENABLE THE OPTIMUM TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE TO BE REACHED.
TTIIPPSS FFOORR UUSSE
Before treating delicate or unusual surfaces with the steam system, consult the manufacturer’s instructions and always carry out a test on a hidden part or on a sample of the material. Allow the steamed part to dry to make sure that no changes in colour or deformations have occurred.
Direct the steam downwards for 2 seconds in order to bring all the components of the machine to their correct temperature, in order to avoid condensation.
Bring the delivery device into a position perpendicular to the surface to be treated and keep it at the distance provided by the spacer bracket / support (N). Avoid direct contact in case of delicate material (fig. 11). Deliver the steam on a continuous movement, using “brushing” movements to cover the surface to be treated. In this way the flow of dry steam at high temperatures will kill the bugs, devitalising their eggs on all treated surfaces. Cimex Eradicator delivers dry saturated steam at high temperatures that will dry without leaving residues within 30 seconds to 1 minute, depending on environmental conditions. Before use, make sure that the treated material is resistant to high temperatures.

The appliance is equipped with a safety cap, which prevents opening of the generator as long as there is any pressure remaining inside. This is an important and indispensable safety device, and it is necessary to follow certain procedures when re-filling the tank. Water out is notified by the indicator light (H) and by an acoustic warning (if present) inside the appliance. Whenever you have used up all the water in the tank, follow the following procedures:
Switch off the machine at the generator
on/off switch (F).
Operate the steam request switch (K) of
the Steam Disinfector until the steam flow ceases.
Switch OFF the accessory on/off switch

• Please pay careful attention when cleaning wooden surfaces (furniture, doors, etc). and treated terracotta flooring as prolonged use of steam may damage the wax, polish or colour of the surfaces to be cleaned. We therefore recommend only steaming these surfaces for short periods of time, or cleaning using a previously steamed cloth.
• On particularly delicate surfaces (e.g. synthetic materials, lacquered surfaces etc.) it is recommended to always cover the brushes with a cloth and to use steam to a minimum.
• To clean glass surfaces in particularly cold seasons, preheat the windows holding the steam gun at a distance of about 50 cm from the surface.
• To take care of your plants, we recommend spraying them from a minimum distance of 50 cm.

CCOONNSSIISSTTSS OOFF:
STEAM GUN (9)
The steam gun can be used directly on all spots requiring a stronger, closer treatment without connecting the brushes. The more resistant the stain, the closer you should hold the gun, the steam pressure and temperature being higher at the source. Always wipe with a dry cloth (or a slightly abrasive sponge if the spot is a difficult one to remove) after using the gun. Steam gun is particularly efficient at:
• breaking down rug and carpet stains before they are treated with the large brush;
• cleaning stainless steel surfaces, panes, mirrors, enamelled surfaces;
• cleaning hard-to-reach corners, such as stairs, window sills, door posts;
• cleaning cooking top knobs, taps bases
• cleaning window shutters, heaters, car interiors;
• spraying plants (from a distance);
• removing odours and creases from clothes.
To reach higher points, the steam gun can be connected to one or both extension tubes. The steam gun (9) has a safety switch (9b) that prevents accidental start of steam delivery by children or people unfamiliar with how the appliance works. With the button (9b) in the “OFF” position, the
S
lever that controls steam delivery is locked (fig.13b). If you were to leave the flex momentarily unattended while the appliance is running, it is recommended to bring the safety switch to the “OFF” position. To start delivering, press button (9b) to “ON” and turn the steam request command lever (9a) (fig. 13a).
EXTENSION TUBES (10)
The two extension tubes are perfect for easy access to distant surfaces, from floors to ceilings.
:
T
48
CIMEX ERADICATOR
120° STEAM ACCESSORY (12)
The 120° accessory (which can be connected directly to the gun or together with the extension tubes) allows you to concentrate a powerful jet of steam to otherwise inaccessible locations, such as radiators, door posts, sills and shutters, as well as for sterilising toilet bowls. It’s a very useful and indispensable tool. Adding the round brush (11) you can clean small surfaces.
SMALL BRUSH (13)
The small brush is used whenever the use of the large brush is impossible or inconvenient. The brush can be connected directly to the steam gun or to one or two extension tubes. The small brush can be used for:
• furnishing fabrics (after a few tests on hidden parts);
• velvets and leathers (from a distance);
• car interiors, dirt-encrusted windscreen;
• small glass surfaces;
• tiles and other small surfaces.
To clean wood (frames, floors, etc..) do not spray the surface directly, but cover the brush (either large or small) with a cotton cloth folded several times. To clean furniture, spray over a dry cotton cloth and clean. The warm damp cloth removes dust, dirt stains and static electricity, so that the furniture stays clean longer without the use of harmful products.
LARGE BRUSH (14)
To clean floors, place the brush on a clean dry cloth and wipe back and forth without pressing. When one side is dirty, turn the cloth. Use the brush without cloth over dirty or scaled areas and over tile joints making lateral movements to lift the dirt For difficult points and stains, use the steam gun directly. Then wipe with the cloth over the points treated. For vertical washable surfaces or upholstery and ceilings, cover the brush with a dry cloth and proceed as for the floor. We recommend using a spongy cloth (e.g. old bath towels). To clean glass surfaces, wrap the brush in a lintfree cotton cloth, secure it with the relevant lever hooks (14a), run it over the windows to de-
grease and remove all traces of detergent products. Finish by steaming with the gun and drying the surface. In very cold seasons, preheat the windows holding the gun at 50 cm from the surface before cleaning. On all types of synthetic or wool floor/wall carpets, as well as area rugs, Cimex Eradicator ensures maximum hygiene, giving them back their original appearance and brightening up the colours. Run the brush without cloth over the surface to make dirt rise to the surface, cover the brush with a cotton cloth locking it in the relevant lever hooks (14a), then wipe the surface again to collect the dirt. Depending on the delicacy of the carpet, fold the cloth twice or three times. Proceed rapidly and without pressing over the carpet, running the brush forward, backward and sideways without pausing too long at the same point. Treatment can be repeated as often as you like, with no danger for the surfaces. The drying is almost immediate. If the carpet is very dirty or saturated with cleaning products, do not to insist too much. Results will be evident only after a few uses of Cimex Eradicator. To clean stubborn stains, before proceeding to the above treatment, treat the stain directly with the steam gun (at a distance of 5 to 10 cm) and wipe vigorously with a cloth.
WINDOW SQUEEGEE TOOL (16)
The window squeegee tool allows you to clean effectively and rapidly all glass surfaces without using detergents. Your glass will remain cleaner longer thanks to the absence of the film normally left behind by chemical cleaning products on which new dust and grease can attach themselves. The accessory is equipped with two spatulas : short spatula (16a), long spatula (16b). Cleaning glass is done in two stages:
• steaming the surface to be cleaned to dissolve the dirt, using the steam command lever (9a);
• using the spatula to remove dirt, without venting the steam.
To clean especially large glass surfaces, at-
tach the window squeegee tool to the extension tubes (10).
