TIMING INFORMATION
The 440 XC SP has been equipped with two switches that will change the timing curve.
The first switch is located on the airbox and has seven optional curves. These seven options are used to match the fuel type and the racing conditions which may vary, depending on the race.
The second switch is a “HOT/COLD” switch located on the left-hand control. This switch is used as an aid to help get the exhaust pipe to “light” when its temperature is relatively “cold.” The “hot” position is the best position and should be used most of the time. Although the timing will be compromised slightly when in the cold position, it will allow for a quicker start in some situations (if the pipe doesn’t light quick enough).
The switch should be turned to “hot” once the race is underway.
The “HOT/COLD” switch can be used with any of the seven options (A-G) but should be tested to determine the best position.
CAUTION
Mis-use of the timing selector switch can cause serious engine damage.
The correct timing selection will enhance performance. The fuel type and race condition will determine which position should be used.
The safest position is “G” and should be used for engine break-in.
