1. Introduction
Congratulations on the purchase of your P.L. Light iQ™ digital controller. This manual contains all the information required to install, operate and maintain the P.L. Light iQ™. Please read and understand this manual completely before installing and operating the
product.
2. Product Description
The P.L. Light iQ™ provides centralized, digital control of your lighting system – allowing you to switch, dim and boost up to 512 luminaires in up to four zones.
This controller is compatible with control-enabled NXT-LP luminaires.
Note: NXT-LP luminaire(s) are not included, they will need to be purchased separately.

3. Glossary Of Terms And Used Symbols

A luminaire or group of luminaires wired by RJ12 cable to the designated ports on the controller. Luminaires (up to 128/zone) within each relevant zone will all be controlled by the user settings for that particular zone.
The nominal operating wattage of the luminaire (refer to the retail box of your NXT-LP luminaire for indication – will be 600W or 1000W)
The desired light output of luminaires within the specied zone(s).
A 24 hour period in which the lights are programmed to turn on for a set dura-
tion and turn off for a set duration.
The period of the light cycle in which the luminaires are set to be turned on. Minimum 15 minutes, maximum 23 hours.
The period of the light cycle in which the luminaires are set to be turned off. Minimum 1 hour, maximum 24
The time it takes for a luminaire(s) to achieve Target Power e.g. if Sunrise period is 15 minutes, then the lamp(s) in set zone(s) will ignite at the Lights-On Time, and will take 15 minutes to achieve Target Power.
The time it takes for luminaire(s) to turn off at Lights-Off Time e.g. if Sunset period is 30 minutes, then light(s) in set zone(s) will begin to dim 30 minutes before Lights-Off Time and will turn off at Lights-Off Time.
The high temperature at which the luminaires are set to dim in order to reduce the temperature in the room.
Shutdown at Temp
The high temperature at which the luminaires are set to shutdown in order to reduce the temperature in the room.

cedure is not carried out as described.
Caution! A caution sign indicates problems may occur if a procedure is not carried out as de­scribed. It may also serve as a reminder to the user.
Note: A note gives additional information e.g. for a procedure.
The symbol on the material, accessories or packaging indicates that this product may not be dis­carded as household waste. Dispose of the equipment through a recycling centre that handles electronics and electrical appliances within Canada and the United States of America which use separate collection systems for used electronics and electrical appliances. By disposing of the equipment in the proper way, you will be helping to prevent possible risks to the environment and public health, which might otherwise be caused by improper handling of the discarded equipment. 5. Safety Recommendations And Warnings
Warning! Carefully read the warnings below before using or operating the product!
Warning! Always adhere to the local and national building and electrical codes when installing or
operating the controller.
Warning! Use only with supplied power adaptor.
Warning! Do not use the controller if any power cord(s) are damaged.
Warning! Do not expose the controller to:
- water, condensing humidity, heavy mist, fog or direct spray
- (ambient) temperatures outside the specied range
- re, excessive heat
- dust and contamination
Warning! The P.L. Light iQ™ controller can only be used to control compatible P.L. Light NXT-LP luminaires. Do not connect the Controller to other products as this may be dangerous and could result in malfunctioning of the connected equipment. Doing so will void the warranty.
Warning! The P.L. Light iQ™ controller is not a replacement for climate control equipment. Its Auto Dim and Shutdown functions are only designed to prevent crop damage.
Warning! Ensure that the luminaire(s) are unplugged when replacing lamps. The controller OFF command is NOT to be used as a means of disconnect, as the luminaire(s) is still connected to line
power.
Warning! The unit contains no serviceable parts. Do not open or tamper with the controller in any way—doing so will void the warranty.

9.Installation

1. Determine the optimal location for the controller. Heed warnings in Section 5.
Caution! The P.L. Light iQ
controller should only be mounted on a sturdy, solid surface.
2. Holding the controller in desired location, mark the position of the holes on the mounting surface, using the mounting tabs (on either side of the controller).
3. Set controller aside and drill holes in marked locations from step 2. Insert anchors into holes if required.
4. Position controller against mounting surface—mounting tabs should be aligned with drilled holes. Insert one screw into each hole and tighten with a screwdriver until con­troller is securely attached to the mounting surface.
Note: Ensure not to over tighten to avoid breaking the mounting tabs.

11. Connecting To Luminaires
1. Once the controller is securely mounted, insert one end of the supplied RJ12 cable into the relevant Zone (1–4) Port A on the control unit.
2. Insert the other end of the RJ12 cable into the RJ port on the luminaire or RJ12 T-splitter (not sup­plied) if connecting more than one luminaire in a zone.
Note: If the cable length of the temperature sensor cable is insufcient to reach the controller, the cable can be lengthened with an RJ12 (6 pin / 6 position) cable and a RJ12 (6 pin / 6 position) straight through inline coupler.
3. Plug the RJ12 connector from the temperature sensor into the corresponding Zone (1–4) tempera­ture Port B on the bottom panel of the controller and run the sensor cable the full length up to and across the ceiling if possible. The sensor should be positioned as close as possible to the center of the grow space within each zone. Repeat using additional temperature sensors (not supplied) for remaining
zones.

Caution! Take care not to stress or damage the sensor cables when securing them to walls or ceilings.
Note: Ensure the sensor is shielded from the light, as this may disrupt temperature measurements. Use
a hood if necessary. Template is located on page 21 and in the Quick Start Guide.
4. Once all connections have been made to the controller, plug the supplied Power Supply (see part “c” on page 7) into a power outlet and connect the other end to the power input Port C on the bottom panel of the controller and proceed to initial setup.
5. Finally, connect the luminaires to the power source (120 – 240V).
Note: Luminaires cannot be boosted when using 120V supply.
You are now ready to setup and program the controller. Proceed to initial setup.

12. Initial Setup
Note: Screen captures shown might differ slightly from actual interface, depending on software
Welcome Screen
Device Settings
You will see the welcome screen upon initial launch of controller. Press Next to proceed to Device
Settings.
To set date, navigate between Month/Date/Year with left/right arrow buttons. Press Enter on highlighted eld and select Month/Date/Year with up/down arrow buttons. Press Enter again to conrm and exit selected eld.
Navigate between Hour Formats with left/right arrow buttons and press Enter to conrm selec-
tion.
To set time, navigate between Hour/Minute/am or pm (if 12 hr format is selected) with left/right arrow buttons. Press Enter on highlighted eld and setup time with up/down arrow buttons. Press Enter again to conrm and exit selected eld.
Navigate between Temperature Formats with left/right arrow buttons and press Enter to con- rm selection.
Press Next to continue to setup your Power Settings and Light Cycles for your connected Zones.
Once initial setup is complete, you will be returned to the Home screen.

13. Screens Overview
a. Home Screen i. Zone Selection Area
Navigate between Zones with arrow buttons. More detailed Zone information can be seen on
the right side of the screen as zones are highlighted. Press Enter to select Zone and proceed to Mode Selection Area.
ii. Mode Selection Area Navigate with left/right arrow buttons and press Enter to select mode (ON/OFF/AUTO) and
exit Mode Selection Area.
Note: All zones are set to ON mode as the default. You will need to set them to AUTO
mode to operate based on programmed settings.
iii. Information Area
Navigate between Zones with arrow buttons to see more detailed information on
Temperature, Power and Status of a Zone.
iv. Settings Navigate to Power Settings or Device Settings with arrow buttons and press Enter to proceed
to Power Settings screen (see page 14) or Device Settings screen (see page 16).
v. Current Date/Time Current date and time are displayed at the top of the home screen.

b. Power Settings i. Settings Area
Note: Settings will only be applied to currently selected zone(s).
1. Rated Power Selection
Navigate to Rated Power with arrow buttons. Press Enter and select Rated Power of your
luminaire(s) (600W/1000W) with up/down arrow buttons. Press Enter to conrm and exit
selection.
Note: Only 1000W is selectable at present time.
2. Target Power Selection
Navigate to Target Power with Arrow buttons. Press Enter and select Target Power of your xture(s) (increments of 25W) with up/down arrow buttons. Press Enter to conrm and exit
selection.
3. Time and Temperature Settings Navigate to Time and Temperature with Arrow buttons. Press Enter to proceed to Time and
Temperature Settings screen to set your desired lighting schedule as well as zone temperature limits. Time and Temperature Setting Screen setup shown on page 15.
4. Apply Changes to Zones Navigate between Zones with Arrow buttons. Press Enter to select Zones (selected zone is
highlighted with gray color) to which you want to apply settings above.
Note: Zone 1 is selected by default (highlighted in green). Select additional zones (will be
highlighted in gray) to apply settings to all selected zones. Zone highlighted in Green is considered the Master Zone. To apply Power Settings from Master Zone, select additional zones and press Save Changes. Only Power Settings will be applied. If desired to apply Master Zone Time and Temperature Settings, the user must enter time and temperature and select save and then select zones. Press Save Changes to apply and save all settings above. Press Next to nish setup and continue to Home Screen.
5. Cancel/Save
Navigate to Cancel or Save Changes with arrow buttons. Press Enter to Cancel or Save Changes to the selected Zones above.
6. Home
Navigate to Home with arrow buttons. Press Enter to go back to Home Screen.
ii. Information Area
This area shows all the settings applied to each separate Zone.

c. Time and Temperature Settings
Note: Settings will only be applied to currently selected zones.
i. Lights ON/OFF Schedule Navigate between Hour/Minute/am or pm (if 12 hr format is selected) with arrow buttons.
Press Enter on highlighted eld to setup time with up/down arrow buttons. Press Enter again
to conrm and exit selection.
Note: Maximum allowable ON time for Luminaires is 23 hours; minimum is 15 minutes.
ii. Sunrise/Sunset Option Navigate to Sunrise/Sunset ON/OFF with arrow buttons. Press Enter on highlighted eld
to select ON/OFF option.
Navigate to Sunrise/Sunset Duration with arrow button. Press Enter on highlighted eld
to setup duration with up/down arrow buttons. Press Enter to conrm and exit selection.
iii. Temperature Control Option Navigate to Temperature Control ON/OFF with arrow buttons. Press Enter on
highlighted eld to select ON/OFF option.
Navigate to Dim at Temperature with arrow buttons. Press Enter on highlighted eld to
setup temperature with up/down arrow buttons. Press Enter to conrm and exit selection.
Navigate to Shutdown at Temperature with arrow buttons. Press Enter on highlighted
eld to setup temperature with up/down arrow buttons. Press Enter to conrm and exit
selection.
Note: Navigate to save changes with arrow buttons. Press Enter to conrm and return to
Power Settings Screen. On the Power Settings Screen, navigate to save changes with arrow
buttons. Press Enter to conrm.

highlighted eld and setup Date with up/down arrow buttons. Press Enter again to conrm
and exit selection.
ii. Hour Format Navigate between Hour Formats with left/right arrow buttons and press Enter on
highlighted eld to conrm.
iii. Time Navigate between Hour/Minute/am or pm (if 12 hr format is selected) with left/right
arrow buttons. Press Enter on highlighted eld and setup Time with up/down arrow buttons.
Press Enter again to conrm and exit selection.
iv. Temperature
Navigate between Temperature Formats with left/right arrow buttons and press Enter on
highlighted eld to conrm.
v. Home/Power Settings
Select Home with arrow buttons and press Enter to go back to Home screen. Select Power
Settings with arrow buttons and press Enter to go to Power Settings screen.

14. Updating The Software
You may be required to check the software version of your P.L. Light iQ™ controller for future updates and compatibility with future luminaires.
To determine the current software version for your controller, go to Device Settings (see page 16) and refer to your software version at the top right of the
screen.
15. Maintenance And Repair
Warning! The unit contains no serviceable parts. Do not open or tamper with
the controller in any way—doing so will void the warranty. For service, return the controller to the place of purchase with the original sales receipt.
Warning! Do not use acids, solvents, abrasives or other aggressive substances to clean the controller as this may cause damage. To clean the controller, use a soft dry cloth
Warning! Ensure that that luminaire(s) are unplugged when replacing lamps. The controller OFF command is NOT to be used as a means of disconnect, as there is still line power to luminaire(s).

16. Warranty
P.L. Light Systems warrants the mechanical and electronic components of their product to be free of defects in material and workmanship if used under normal op­erating conditions for a period of three (3) years from the original date of purchase. If the product shows any defects within this period, and that defect is not due to user error or improper use, P.L. Light Systems shall, at its discretion, either replace or repair the product. In case P.L. Light Systems decides to replace the entire product and/or warrantied components, this limited warranty shall apply to the replacement product/components for the remaining initial warranty period, i.e. three (3) years from the date of purchase of the original product. For service, return the xture to the place of purchase with the original sales receipt. All information represented in this guide has been checked to be as accurate as possible, however, errors may be present. P.L Light reserves the right to refuse service to any product at their discre-
tion.

Appendix 3 - Temperature Sensor Hood Template
The temperature sensor(s) should be shielded from direct exposure to the light, as this may disrupt temperature readings. Cut out and use hoods if necessary.
