CTM Chordmaster™ • Tuner • Metronome
The Planet Waves CTM takes the highly successful Chordmaster and adds to it a chromatic tuner and metronome. The Chordmaster section provides you with the most comprehensive library of over 7000 chords–all in the palm of your hand. The easy navigation allows you to find any chord simply and quickly. The CTM even has a “lefty mode” for those often ignored left-handed guitarists. Combining this with a fully-chromatic tuner and metronome makes the CTM your all-in-one essential practice/reference tool.
Your CTM ships with two AAA batteries. To install them, turn over the CTM and lift up the stand. Underneath, you will find the battery door. Press and push the door downward to release. Install batteries following the polarity guides. Replace bat­tery door with an upward motion to lock in place. Using the CTM:
• Press mode key once. Unit turns on and you enter Chordmaster mode (hold VARIANT key and press power to start Chordmaster in left-hand mode). • The arrow on the bottom of the screen points to which mode the CTM is in, and the mini menus on the left and right edge of the screens indicate the function for each button accordingly. • To activate the backlight function, simultaneously press and hold the up and down arrow keys.
Chordmaster Mode
• Press ROOT key and ROOT indicator flashes on screen. While indicator is flash­ing, use the UP/DOWN keys to select chord root. Press any other key and root digit stops flashing. Continuously pressing ROOT key will cycle you through chord roots as well. • Press CHORD TYPE key. The CHORD TYPE starts flashing on screen, use UP/DOWN keys to scroll through the four basic chord types you have to choose from (MAJ, MIN, DOM7, or DIM). Press any other key and the active chord type icon stops flashing. Continuously pressing chord TYPE key will cycle you through chord types as well. • Press VARIANT key. The chord variant indica­tor flashes on screen. While indicator is flashing, use UP/DOWN keys to scroll through and select the chord variant. Press any other key and Chord Variant Indi­cator stops flashing. Continuously pressing variant key will cycle you through chord variants as well. • When no indicator is flashing on screen, use UP/DOWN keys to see the displayed chord in various positions on the fretboard.

CHROMATIC TUNER
Press MODE key a second time (2x from off condition) to enter TUNER mode. The arrow on the bottom of the screen points to tuner and the mini menus on the left and right edge of the screens indicate the function for each button accordingly. The current tuning frequency will also be displayed, e.g. A-440. The tuner has both a microphone for acoustic instruments and a 1/4" input jack for electric instruments. • The CTM has an LED array below the LCD screen consisting of a green LED in the center that indicates the note is in-tune. • Pluck string to be tuned and tuner will display the recognized pitch on the LCD screen. • If the note is flat to the recognized pitch, the LEDs to the left of the center green LED will light. If the note is sharp of the recognized pitch the LEDs to the right of the center green LED will light. • Tune the instrument so that the LED movement is toward the center green LED. • When the center green LED is lit by itself the note is in tune. Frequency Adjust • Pressing the FREQ key while in tuning mode enters you into the frequency-adjust mode and the frequency indicator will start to flash. • Press UP/DOWN keys to adjust frequency of the note “A.” The tuner can be cali­brated anywhere between A410 and A470. The last frequency setting will be remembered when powered down and restarted. • Holding down either UP or DOWN key for more than 3 seconds will advance the digits in that direction at a high rate.
METRONOME
Press the MODE key again (3x from off condition) to enter Metronome mode. The arrow on the bottom of the screen points to metronome and the mini menus on the left and right edge of the screens indicate the function for each button accord­ingly. The metronome can be set from 20 beats per minute to 250 beats per minute and have 1 to 9 beats per measure. The first beat in each measure is accented acoustically for your reference and the LEDs will flash accordingly.
• Press the START-STOP key to start and stop the metronome. • Press the UP/DOWN keys to set the desired beats-per-minute setting. • Holding down either UP or DOWN key for more than 3 seconds will advance the digits in that direction at a high rate. The last tempo setting will be remembered when powered down and restarted. • Press VARIANT key to adjust the beats per measure from 1-9. Power-up default is 4. The last beats per measure setting will be remembered when powered down and restarted. • Press the MUTE key to mute the audio and use the LEDs alone as the beat reference.
