The portability of the Dome Surgery Review Cart allows you to implement a DICOM-compliant, PACS referral
viewing station—on demand—in any area of a healthcare facility. When it is fully integrated, the cart consists of
the computer unit that you supply and these components:
• Review cart for attaching computer and display• Dome CXtra software for DICOM compliance
• One or two displays for side-by-side image review• Cleanable keyboard and mouse
• Display controller and driver• Power adapters (display dependent)
The displays available in dual-unit cart configurations include the Dome C3i, Dome E2, Dome E2c, Dome E3,
Dome E3c, Dome P2, and Dome Q2 displays. The Dome E4c display, designed for widescreen diagnostic imaging,
is also available in a single-unit cart configuration.
To facilitate integration at your location, Planar has partially assembled the review cart by prerouting power and
video cables. You need only to install the display controller into your computer, attach the computer and the
Dome displays to the cart, and connect the power and video cables. Check the display documentation for safety
guidelines on handling the components.

configurations may have variations for power supply
connection and peripherals.
ONE: Checking the Package Contents
The components for the review cart ship in two boxes. Confirm that you have received these items.
Box 1: Preconfigured cart, containing:
– Video and power cables (2 each),
routed
– Power supplies (2), mounted,
as required per display
– Keyboard and mouse
– Keyboard cover
– Mounting brackets with VESA
100-mm hole pattern, attached
– Power strip (4 outlets), mounted
and routed
– Computer straps (2)
–Cable ties (5)
Box 2: Dual Dome CX, EX, PX, or QX or single Dome E4c display unit, including:
Install the display controller into your computer before you attach the computer to the cart. Refer to the display
documentation for instructions.
THREE: Mounting the Computer
Be sure to center the computer unit on the L-bracket for stability. To use a UPS on the cart, position the device on the shelf at
the bottom of the cart, as shown in step 3. Use a 3" x 5" pad of hook & loop tape on the bottom of the UPS. Secure the UPS
to the shelf with long cable ties routed around the UPS and through the four slits on the bracket.
1
Position the cart so that you face
the rear. Lock the front wheels.
2
Remove the cables bundled on
the L-bracket and unfasten the straps.
3
Place the computer on the
L-bracket and secure the straps.
FOUR: Mounting Dual Displays
Mounting dual displays to the cart is a two-person task. Ask someone to hold each display in place, while you secure it to
the mounting bracket. See page 3 for mounting of the Dome E4c display.
1
Attach the first display to
a mounting bracket and secure
the two top screws.
2
Rotate the display to landscape
mode to secure the two bottom
screws. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for
the second display.
3
Slide the mounting brackets
toward the center so that the dual
displays are side by side.
Mounting the Dome E4c Display
Ask someone to help you lift and mount the display. You also need a protective cloth on which to put the display
screen-down (on a flat surface) to adjust and remove the mounting screws.
1
Loosen the four top mounting
screws until they protrude halfway
from the display. The screws must still
be firmly seated. Completely remove
the four bottom screws.
2
With a person on each side, lift the
display and set the protruding screws
into the top screw slots to hook the
display onto the mounting bracket.
3
Insert the four bottom screws into
the mounting bracket and the display.
Tighten all the screws. Use the lever on
the bracket to adjust the tilt position
of the display.
FIVE: Connecting the Power Cords and Video Cables
Refer to the display documentation for proper connection of the video cables, that is, from the display to the display
controller. After you make the connections, you can check that the cables are neatly routed and firmly attached to the cart.
1
Plug the power and video cables
into each display. The video cable for
the first display is marked with tape.
2
Plug the power cord into
the computer.
3
Plug the video cables into the
computer. (The cable for the first
display plugs into the top port.)
4
Plug the keyboard and mouse
cables into the computer.
SIX: Installing the Software
To finish the integration, install the display driver and the Dome CXtra software onto the computer hard drive. Install the
display driver before you install the software. Refer to the display or software documentation for more information.
5
Plug all power cords into the
power strip. Use the cable ties to
bundle and secure the cords and
cables. (If using a UPS, plug the power
cords into the power strip, plug the
strip cord into the UPS, and plug the
UPS cord into a grounded outlet.)
6
Plug the power strip cord into
a grounded outlet. Be sure that you
make the connection to the power
source last. Refer to the display
documentation before powering on
the system.
