Hardware Mode Programming
The X-keys XK-3 has an internal memory for storing hardware macros like keystrokes, mouse actions, game controller (joystick) or multi-media
commands. To program these macros, use MacroWorks 3.1 in “Hardware
Resident Mode.” (under the Mode menu). Once programmed, the XK-3 will
send macros to any computer or USB enabled device with no software installation required.
Connecting Switches
The port on the XK-3 is a TRRS (Tip-Ring-Ring-Sleeve) jack designed to accept our three button trigger switch. Any switch wired to a standard 3.5mm plug may be plugged into the port and the XK-3 will recognize it. Splitter cables are available to connect two or three switches to the port. Splitters and adapters may be combined to connect multiple switches in parallel to trigger the same action from the switch interface.
This image illustrates how the three types of 3.5mm (1/8”) plug are recognized by the Switch Interface.
Support

X-keys USB devices are programmed with MacroWorks 3.1 for Windows XP through 8 and ControllerMate for Mac OS X. Developers may also use software development kits for Windows, Linux and Android to integrate X-keys into their applications. Additionally, the USB 12 Switch Interface has a hardware programming feature which allows a user to emulate keyboard, mouse, joystick, or multimedia messages on any USB-enabled operating system. For more information about any of these options, see our web site or contact our Technical Support Department (tech@xkeys.com).
