PIEGA Coax Series
For the last 16 years, the Coax series of loudspeakers has
been one of the absolute highlights in the PIEGA product
range with its combined tweeter and mid-range ribbons. Now
the second generation of the Coax series is being launched
with the compact bookshelf loudspeaker Coax 311 and the
two slightly over one metre high floor-standing speakers Coax
511 and Coax 711. The trio has – as widely used by PIEGA
– cabinets made of extruded aluminium, as a result of which
the loudspeakers not only look particularly noble and elegant,
but are also so stable that there are no performance losses
resulting from vibrating cabinet walls.
So-called “Tension Improve Modules” (TIM) are also used in
the new Coax loudspeakers, which place the entire cabinet
under controlled tension and in this manner prevent even
the smallest vibrations in the cabinet. Remaining micro-
resonances are completely eliminated by innovative visco-
elastic damping films.
The second-generation Coax systems are a further develop-
ment of the previously used drivers in all important aspects.
The ingenious basic principle of the concentrically arranged
mid-range ribbon, at the centre of which the tweeter ribbon
is implemented, has been upgraded by stronger neodymium
magnets and pole plates made of special high-strength steel
with a ferritic structure, thereby achieving a higher level of effi-
ciency. The layout of the flat coils under the foil diaphragm and
the damping of the foil diaphragm have also been optimised.
The new UHQD woofers have titanium voice coil formers, a
new suspension and specially formed, coated and extremely
rigid aluminium diaphragms. These are also used as passive
radiators in the floor-standing loudspeakers.

For music-lovers with larger living rooms and a need for even
stronger and deeper bass reproduction, this three-way floor-
standing loudspeaker is the first choice. Below the large
C211 coaxial ribbon, four 220 mm woofers wait to set sig-
nificant volumes of air in motion – two actively driven by the
connected amplifier, two as passive radiators to support the
bass reproduction.
Coax 511
In addition to the mid-high range Coax C111 placed at the
top in the baffle, this slim, only 22 cm wide and 115 cm high
floor-standing loudspeaker offers four 160 mm woofers. Two
of them are actively driven by the connected amplifier, while
the other two are passive radiators and help the Coax 511 to
create harmonious and deep bass reproduction.
On the shelf or on a stand is where the new entry-level Coax
311 series feels most at home. In its 22 centimetre-wide baf-
fle, the newly combined mid-high range Coax C111 and a
160 mm UHQD woofer do their job by providing very three-
dimensional, dynamic and accurate music reproduction. The
