PIEGA The Company
Even after more than twenty years since the founding of our company PIEGA, we
have still kept our passion for building loudspeakers for discerning audiophiles. We
have held true to our core expertise and our specialties, the LDR (Linear Drive
Ribbon) tweeter, the coaxial ribbon system and the seamless aluminum cabinet
have now become synonymous amongst specialists with audio excellence. This
has encouraged our developers to constantly find new technologies for perfect
sound reproduction with innovations that get one step closer to the original.
However, as well as an eagerness to innovate, our company also has constancy as
an important cornerstone. For us, this constancy means working together with
long-standing employees, preserving our know-how, creating timelessly beautiful
products, purchasing our raw materials and parts from reliable and fair suppliers,
maintaining business relationships with reputable partners, and having an open ear
for our customers, even after several years. Naturally the human factor is of
central importance. In the old industrial buildings directly on the lake in Horgen and
on the banks of the same lake in Wädenswil is where our sound systems have
always been created by hand from A-Z in an environment of humanity and craftsmanship. From the entry level loudspeaker up to the top model, every one passes
through several hands until it reaches the gates of our factory – tested, registered
and carefully packed, to offer an abundance of pleasure and a high level of listening
enjoyment even after several years.
Flashback:
With the founding of the company in 1986, fresh ideas and the use of progressive
materials enabled us to develop an absolutely new ribbon tweeter (Linear Drive
Ribbon) to the ultimate of technical perfection. From this we were able to further
develop the LDR II tweeter and the LDR midrange system.
In 2000 we managed to take a quantum leap with the development of the world‘s
first coaxial ribbon system. For more information on this see “Technology and
Products”.
Design: However, our products are designed not only to please the ear but also the
eye. For years the well-known Swiss designer, Hannes Wettstein, has been
responsible for the design of our loudspeakers.
Aluminum cabinets: We are the first high-end manufacturer to build our sound
systems in seamless aluminum cabinets and thus set new standards in aesthetic
and technological design.

PIEGA Technology and Products
After the development of the ribbon tweeter the quest for even higher levels of audio
perfection continued and was rewarded in 2000 with the development of the first
coaxial ribbon system. The bar for quality in the loudspeaker market was raised once
more. We managed to combine tweeter and midrange in one unit and thus to form
one acoustic center. For the listener this means absolutely no interference and the
highest level of sound quality. A pity that we can‘t offer you a sound test at this point.
You would be delighted – unadulterated musical enjoyment. The coaxial ribbon
systems are built by our specialists with hours of painstaking craftsmanship in
precisely maintained climatic conditions at our factory in Horgen and thoroughly
tested. When it comes to quality, we leave nothing to chance.
New ways were also developed for the design of loudspeaker cabinets. The extruded aluminum cabinets are PIEGA innovations, finished to perfection with optimum
damping without any intrinsic sound.
Have you noticed the unique geometry of the individual series? Each of the new
shapes – trapezoidal, semi elliptical and C-shaped – offer individual acoustic properties and stand out for their interesting volume response. In one thing, however, there
is no difference between the series. All offer the same high level of quality. Most of
our standard products are finished in high quality aluminum. A black front grill is
included in the delivery as a cover in order to protect parts that are sensitive to
contact. Optional silver coverings are also available. Useful accessories such as
stands, cables and wall brackets are also offered on our website.
In this catalogue we are pleased to present three new products. After nearly ten
years, our previous flagship, the C 40, now has to transfer its leadership to the new
CL 120 X. At this point we can already assure you that it’s a powerful successor.
Kurt Scheuch and his team set about meeting the demand for “smaller and better”.
The result is a slim-line, elegant floor-standing loudspeaker with a coaxial midrange
tweeter ribbon. The minimum volume for a floor-standing loudspeaker of this quality
is compensated for by means of the coaxial ribbon system, the special bass chassis
and a recently developed frequency crossover. The third new product is a powerful
subwoofer, and more information on this is provided in the products section.
However, all new developments have the following top priority: the authentic and
highly resolved reproduction of each individual tone. Regardless of whether the
recordings were produced in the concert, in the recording studio or on the lawn, we
demand from our loudspeakers the highest audio quality, absolute resonance
freedom and unbeatable frequency linearity, and above all one thing – “music”.
Therefore don‘t be astonished if the imperfections of some well-known musical
greats are mercilessly exposed.

Reference floor-standing loudspeaker with coaxial ribbon system
CL 120 X
The new CL 120 X is now available to succeed the legendary and widely acclaimed
C 40. Not a simple task many might think, and rightly so. There has probably never
been so much effort invested in the fine tuning of this new speaker. Thanks to
advancements in several areas, the “newcomer” doesn‘t need to be afraid of
comparison – on the contrary.
Like its predecessor, the CL 120 X comes with a C1 large coaxial ribbon system, an
elegant design and breathtaking sound quality. Improvements were made in
efficiency for even simpler operation of the amplifiers, in the high speed bass and in
the resonance free cabinet. We are convinced that the CL 120 X will become one of
the greats. The performance in terms of quality and quantity is considerable, and
friends of “live” sound will get their money‘s worth with this new model. The high
class loudspeaker comes in the further reinforced and therefore resonance-free
aluminum cabinet, which provides the required space for the music, both with quiet
sounds and with high orchestral volume. Naturally, the CL 120 X is 100% hand
crafted by us in our Horgen workshops, where it is also fine tuned, so that each
piece is a unique item fitted with components of the optimum quality. All employees at PIEGA are aware of their responsibility to maintain the exclusivity of this
loudspeaker and focus all their abilities in ensuring that the CL 120 X reaches the
new owner in perfect condition. In order to also meet external aesthetic requirements, the new loudspeaker is crafted in silver or black anodized aluminum, or an
elegant piano finish.
The CL 120 X guarantees the pinnacle of musical enjoyment, and even long
forgotten treasures of a private music collection are brought to life.
Reference floor-standing loudspeaker with coaxial ribbon system
CL 90 X
Fascinating sound quality free of interference, from the lowest ultra-precise bass to
the cleanest midrange and tweeter, thus bringing visual and acoustic elegance and
harmony.
Perfect sound quality is produced from the combination of a high-speed MOM
(Magnetic Optimized Motor) bass chassis and coaxial midrange tweeter system,
since C2 coaxial ribbon system offers, in the X, Y axes and the Z axis, the same
point as the acoustic center so that all frequencies are transferred at the same time.
The aluminum cabinet with its sophisticated damping is free of intrinsic sound. The
sound produced is only radiated from the membranes and offers an astounding level
of clarity and purity, thus producing a musical experience that delights the listener
with all its subtleties.
All you need to do is to put on your favorite music, close your eyes and savor the
wonderful sound range of the CL 90 X.
