AUDIO OUTPUT GAIN
The right output level depends on your camera / recorder. Set it up at the highest level possible, but low enough so that your camera / recorder doesn't clip when you blow into the mic.
OUTPUT MODE
TRS: output a stereo signal (L+R). Used for cameras, recorders, etc. TRRS: mimick a headset microphone. This is useful to record on a smartphone or a tablet. Your PicoBase will use the right mode automatically.
Always connect the cable to your PicoBase rst, then to your audio device.
Else, the auto-detection might not work and your equipment might not detect that the PicoBase is connected.

SET YOUR OUTPUT GAIN
1. Set the audio gain on the camera / recorder to its lowest level.
Beause the pre-amps in many cameras perform poorly and have high noise levels at high gains.
2. Use the highest gain level on the PicoBase receiver (without clipping)
Use the VU-meter on your camera or recorder to check if you clip when you blow into the mic. Set the highest gain on the PicoBase receiver which doesn't clip on your camera. Typical gains for DSLR cameras are near -24dB.
Note: once you have found the appropriate gain, do not change it to get more or less audio gain. Instead, depending on your sound
environment, always use the Mic gain setting.
-10 dB

SET YOUR MIC GAIN
This gain should be adapted depending on your sound environment. Set it up so that you have medium levels on the VU-meter (-20dB) when speaking normally.
