The FireBIRD Compact 20 portable electric heater features multiple power receptacles for connection to common 120VAC
outlets. The Compact 20 can output up to 20,000 Btu of clean, safe heat at 250 CFM. The Compact 20’s remote thermostat
provides a means to control the temperature in the drying chamber, while its internal temperature cutout ensures safe
operation.

• Read all instructions before using this heater.

• DO NOT OPERATE near children or invalids.

• This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let
bare skin touch hot surfaces. If provided, use handles
when moving this heater. Keep combustible materials,
such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and
curtains at least 36” (.91 m) from the front of the heater
and keep them away from the sides and rear.

• For temporary use only, not for comfort heat. See NFPA
70 Article 590.

• Always unplug unit when not in use.

• DO NOT OPERATE with damaged cord, plug, or after
unit malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in
any manner. Return to authorized service facility for
examination or repair.

• Unit Intended for INDOOR USE ONLY; DO NOT USE
OUTDOORS.

• This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry
areas and similar indoor locations. Never locate heater
where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container.

• DO NOT run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with
throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Do not route
cord under furniture or appliances. Arrange cord away
from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.

• To disconnect device, turn controls off, then remove plug
from outlet.

• Connect ONLY to properly grounded GFCI outlets.

• DO NOT insert or allow foreign objects to enter any
ventilation or exhaust openings as this may cause an
ELECTRIC SHOCK or FIRE, or damage the heater.

• To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or
exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, such
as a bed, where openings may become blocked.

• Device has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not
use in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids
are used or stored.

• Use device only as described in this manual. Any other use
not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire,
electric shock, or injury to persons.

• Cords used for 120V service shall be No. 12 AWG
minimum size rated not less than 1440 Watts.

• N’UTILISEZ PAS un appareil présentant un cordon
ou un branchement endommagé ou suivant tout
dysfonctionnement, chute ou endommagement d’une
quelconque façon. Retournez plutôt l’appareil à un centre
de service autorisé pour inspection ou réparation.

• Cette unité est prévue pour une UTILISATION EN
INTÉRIEUR SEULEMENT; NE L’UTILISEZ PAS À
L’EXTÉRIEUR.

• Cet appareil de chauffage n’est pas conçu pour une
utilisation dans les salles de bain, les salles de lavage ou
autres espaces intérieurs similaires. Ne placez jamais cet
appareil en milieu humide où il pourrait tomber dans une
baignoire ou autre réceptacle contenant de l’eau.

• ÉVITEZ de glisser le cordon d’alimentation sous un
tapis. Ne recouvrez pas le cordon d’alimentation avec
des carpettes, chemins de plancher ou recouvrements
similaires. Évitez de glisser le cordon d’alimentation sous
des meubles ou appareils. Assurez-vous que le cordon se
trouve éloigné des zones de passage ou là où il pourrait
créer un trébuchement.

• Pour débrancher l’appareil, fermez les boutons de
contrôle et retirez la fiche de la prise de courant.

• Ne branchez cet appareil qu’à une prise de courant avec
disjoncteur de fuite à la terre (DDFT).

• N’insérez AUCUN corps étranger dans la ventilation ou
les ouvertures d’échappement; cela peut créer une
DÉCHARGE ÉLECTRIQUE, un INCENDIE ou endommager
l’appareil de chauffage.

• En prévention d’un éventuel incendie, ne bloquez aucune
entrée d’air ou échappement de quelque façon que ce
soit. Évitez d’utiliser sur les surfaces souples telles un lit
où les entrées risquent d’être bloquées.

• L’appareil comporte des pièces chaudes pouvant produire
des arcs électriques (étincelles). Ne pas utiliser là où de
l’essence, de la peinture et des liquides inflammables
sont utilisés ou entreposés.

• Utilisez cet appareil uniquement aux fins décrites dans
le manuel. Toute utilisation non recommandée par le
fabricant risque de créer un incendie, une décharge
électrique ou des blessures corporelles.

• Les rallonges utilisées pour un branchement en 120
V doivent être au moins de calibre no 12 AWG et être
approuvées pour 1 440 watts au minimum.

2 Operation

2.1 Transporting

The Phoenix FireBIRD Compact 20 must
always be upright when transported by
vehicle. The Compact 20 is equipped
with rubber corners to permit stacking
for storage. If units are transported, they
must be secured with restraining straps
to prevent damage and possible injury.

2.2 Electrical Requirements

The Phoenix FireBIRD Compact 20 requires a 120VAC outlet
to power the onboard blower, control and 1st heater circuit.
Three aditional heating elements are separately powered by
additional cords and receptacles.

120VAC heating elements each require cord connection
to appropriate receptacles rated at 15A or more. One cord
and receptacle are required per heating element. Power
cords should be appropriately sized. POWER CORDS MUST
BE 12 GA MINIMUM AT 25 FT OR LESS, GREATER THAN
12 GA AT LONGER LENGTHS, AND MUST HAVE A THREE­BLADE GROUNDING-TYPE PLUG. An adapter is available for
