Programming & Record/Playback Features

Hi-Fi Stereo Sound with Built-In MTS/SAP Decoder

Record stereo videotapes from stereo sound sources and playback pre-recorded hi-fi stereo tapes in hi-fi stereo sound–with an excellent 90dB+ dynamic range–through a stereo-equipped TV or regular TV and stereo hi-fi home audio system. The built-in MTS/SAP decoder allows reception and recording of off-air television stereo broadcasts and second audio program transmissions, where available. Back-up memory logic retains the cable channel guide map indefinitely even during a power failure or when the VCR is disconnected from its power source.

VCR Plus+™ Programming

Simplifies VCR programming by allowing you to simply enter PlusCode

programming numbers found in many published television listings. When recording begins, your VCR automatically selects the proper TV channel and program length. Back-up memory logic retains the cable channel guide map indefinitely even during a power failure or when the VCR is disconnected from its power source.

Automatic Channel Setup

The VCR tuner scans through television frequencies, automatically storing active broadcast channel into memory. Then, only active channels programmed into memory are tuned using the CHANNEL ▲ ▼ buttons on either the remote or front panel of the VCR. Automatic channel preset can be repeated whenever desired, should new channels become available. Channels can be manually added or deleted.

Front Panel Audio/Video Inputs

Provide added convenience to the user when recording tapes directly from a camcorder to the VCR. In addition, accessory video equipment such as a video game or Web browser can be connected for direct playthrough to the TV set.

181-Channel FS Tuning

The digital quartz tuner can receive up to 181 channels, including UHF, VHF, and 113 cable channels, without the inconvenience and expense of a cable company decoder/converter (on non-scrambled cable systems). Channel tuning is by random access with the remote control transmitter or scan tuning up and down by remote or at the set.

Clock/Function Display

Continuously alerts you to all important recording and playback conditions, correct time, counter position, tape speed, channel number, etc. When the VCR is turned off, the time display automatically dims to make it less distracting.

Trilingual (English/Spanish/French) Onscreen Display

Indicates record/playback functions, channel number, clock setting, date, counter, programming, one-touch record and record standby, keeping you alert to the status of all features in a heads-up onscreen display in your choice of English, Spanish, or French.

21x Forward/Reverse Latching Search

Search in forward or reverse mode at 21 times normal playing speed in SLP, and 7 times normal in SP. The Latching Search feature provides continuous forward or reverse search with a single touch of the control. A second touch stops the search operation and returns the unit to the Play mode.

VCR/Universal TV/CBL/DBS Remote

Multifunction infrared remote controls all operating features and functions of this VCR, plus select functions of most Philips Magnavox and some competitive brand television sets, as well as some cable converter/decoders, and standard features of MAGNAVOX, RCA, and SONY digital broadcast satellite receivers. Change channels fast with the numeric direct access keypad and heads-up onscreen display for confirmation.
