Important
Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it for future reference.
Danger
-Keep the charger away from water. Do not place or store it over or near water contained in a bathtub, washbasin, sink etc. Do not immerse the charger in water or any other liquid. After cleaning, make sure the charger is completely dry before you connect it to the mains.
Warning
-The mains cord cannot be replaced. If the mains cord is damaged, discard the charger.
-Always have the charger replaced with one of the original type in order to avoid a hazard.

-If the appliance is damaged in any way (brush head, toothbrush handle or charger), stop using it. This appliance contains no serviceable parts. If the appliance is damaged, contact the Consumer Care Centre in your country (see chapter ‘Guarantee and support').

Caution
-Do not clean the brush head, the handle or the charger in the dishwasher.
-If you have had oral or gum surgery in the previous 2 months, consult your dentist before you use the toothbrush.
-Consult your dentist if excessive bleeding occurs after using this toothbrush or if bleeding continues to occur after 1 week of use. Also consult your dentist if you experience discomfort or pain when you use the Philips Sonicare.
-The Philips Sonicare toothbrush complies with the safety standards for electromagnetic devices. If you have a pacemaker or other implanted device, contact your physician or the device manufacturer of the implanted device prior to use.
-If you have medical concerns, consult your doctor before you use the Philips Sonicare.

-This appliance has only been designed for cleaning teeth, gums and tongue. Do not use it for any other purpose. Stop using the appliance and contact your doctor if you experience any discomfort or pain.
-The Philips Sonicare toothbrush is a personal care device and is not intended for use on multiple patients in a dental practice or institution.
-Stop using a brush head with crushed or bent bristles. Replace the brush head every 3 months or sooner if signs of wear appear. Do not use other brush heads than the ones recommended by the manufacturer.
-If your toothpaste contains peroxide, baking soda or bicarbonate (common in whitening toothpastes), thoroughly clean the brush head with soap and water after each use. This prevents possible cracking of the plastic.

Preparing for use
Attaching the brush head
1Align the brush head so the bristles point in the same direction as the front of the handle (Fig. 2).
2Firmly press the brush head down onto the metal shaft until it stops.
Note: Philips Sonicare brush heads are imprinted with icons to easily identify your brush head (Fig. 3).
Note: It is normal to see a slight gap between the brush head and the handle (Fig. 4).
Charging your Philips Sonicare
1Plug the USB of the wireless charging pad into the wall adapter and plug into the wall socket (Fig. 5).

2Place the handle vertically on the charging platform (the raised surface of the charger (Fig. 6)).
-The charging pad beeps when the toothbrush is correctly placed onto the charging platform.
Note: There may be a delay for the charging pad to beep while the charging pad synchronizes with the handle.
-While the toothbrush is charging, the charging indicator flashes white on the charging pad.
3When the toothbrush is fully charged, the charging indicator lights up solid white (Fig. 7).
4If the charging indicator flashes red, that indicates detection of a foreign object or a communication error between the handle and charging pad.
-If this occurs remove any foreign objects from the charging pad and/or try removing and replacing the handle on the charging pad.
Note: It takes approximately 12 hours to ensure battery is fully charged. Charging times may vary if alternative wall adapters are used.
This charger is designed to properly charge only one handle at a time. Only the handle provided in this box should be used with this charging system.
This charger is not compatible with other models of Philips Sonicare.
Do not place metallic objects on the charging pad as handle charging may be affected and may cause the metallic object to overheat.
Battery status (when handle is not on charger)
When removing the Philips Sonicare from the charging pad or after a brushing session, a battery light at the bottom of the toothbrush will indicate the status of the battery life.
-Solid green LED: Between 2-3 weeks of brushing sessions left
-Flashing green LED: Approximately 1 week of brushing sessions left
Only after a brushing is complete

-Flashing orange LED and three beeps: Only a few brushing sessions left
-Flashing orange LED and two sets of five beeps: No brushing sessions left (charge toothbrush)
Note: These indications are based off of using the device twice per day in Clean Mode. Other modes or more frequent usage may decrease the battery life.
Using the appliance
Brushing instructions
1Wet the bristles (Fig. 8).
2Apply a small amount of toothpaste on the bristles (Fig. 9).
3Place the toothbrush bristles against the teeth at a slight angle (45 degrees), pressing firmly to make the bristles reach the gumline or slightly beneath the gumline (Fig. 10).
Note: Keep the center of the brush in contact with the teeth at all times.
4Press the power on/off and mode button to turn on your Philips Sonicare (Fig. 11).
5Gently keep the bristles placed on the teeth and in the gumline. Brush your teeth with small back and forth motion so the bristles reach between the teeth (Fig. 12).
Note: The bristles should slightly flare. Do not scrub.
6To clean the inside surfaces of the front teeth, tilt the brush handle semi-upright and make several vertical overlapping brushing strokes on each tooth (Fig. 13).
7Begin brushing in section 1 (outside top teeth) and brush for 30 seconds (45 seconds in Deep Clean mode) before moving to section 2 (inside top teeth). Continue brushing in section 3 (outside bottom teeth) and brush for 30 seconds (45 seconds in Deep Clean mode) before moving to section 4 (inside bottom teeth (Fig. 14)).
Note: To make sure you brush evenly throughout the mouth, divide your mouth into 4 sections using the Quadpacer feature (see chapter ‘Features’).

Note: After you have completed the brushing cycle, you can spend additional time brushing the chewing surfaces of your teeth and areas where staining occurs. You can also brush your tongue, with the toothbrush turned on or off, as you prefer (Fig. 15).
Your Philips Sonicare is safe to use on:
-Braces (brush heads wear out sooner when used on braces).
-Dental restorations (fillings, crowns, veneers).
Brushing modes
1To toggle through modes press the on/off button twice in less than 5 seconds.
2To turn off your Philips Sonicare press the on/off button again after 5 seconds.
Your Philips Sonicare comes with the Clean mode activated.
Note: When the Philips Sonicare is used in clinical studies, it must be used in the default 2-minute Clean mode or in the Deep Clean mode with Easy Start turned off.
Clean mode
The ultimate in plaque removal (default mode). Clean mode lasts for 2 minutes and includes four 30 second Quadpacer intervals.
White mode
2 minutes to remove surface stains and 30 seconds to brighten and polish your front teeth.
Sensitive mode
Extra gentle 2 minute mode for sensitive teeth and gums.
Gum Care mode
Complete whole mouth cleaning (2 minutes) plus gentle cleaning for problem areas and along the gumline (1 minute).
Deep Clean mode
Provides an invigorating 3 minutes of alternating cleaning and massaging to deliver an exceptionally clean experience.

Features
Quadpacer
The Quadpacer is an interval timer that has a short beep and pause to remind you to brush the 4 sections of your mouth. Depending on the brushing mode you have selected, the Quadpacer beeps at different intervals during the brushing cycle. The Quadpacer works in all 5 modes (Fig. 14).
Smartimer
The Smartimer indicates that your brushing cycle is complete by automatically turning off the toothbrush at the end of the brushing cycle.
Dental professionals recommend brushing no less than 2 minutes twice a day.
Easy-start
The Easy-start feature gently increases the power over the first 14 brushings to help you get used to the brushing with the Philips Sonicare. The Easy-start feature only works in Clean and White modes. This Philips Sonicare model comes with the Easy-start feature activated.
Activating or deactivating the Easy-start feature
1Attach the brush head to the handle.
2Place the handle on the charging platform.
To activate Easy-start:
Press and hold the power on/off and mode button for 2 seconds. You hear 2 beeps to indicate that the Easy-start feature has been activated.
To deactivate Easy-start:
Press and hold the power on/off and mode button for 2 seconds. You hear 1 beep to indicate that the Easy-start feature has been deactivated.

Note: Using the Easy-start feature beyond the initial ramp-up period is not recommended and reduces Philips Sonicare effectiveness in removing plaque.
Note: Each of the first 14 brushings must be at least 1 minute in length to properly move through the Easy-start ramp-up cycle.
Traveling with the appliance
1Open the travel case and remove the middle insert.
2Place the charger base and wall adapter in the bottom of the case.
3Insert the toothbrush handle underneath the elastic band in the middle insert to ensure the handle stays in place while traveling.
4Place the middle insert back into the travel case.
5Brush heads can be stored in the netted pouch of the travel case.
Cleaning
Note: Do not clean the brush head, handle, charging base or USB travel case in the dishwasher. The glass is dishwasher safe.
Toothbrush handle
1Remove the brush head and rinse the metal shaft area with warm water. Make sure you remove any residual toothpaste (Fig. 16).
Note: Do not push on the rubber seal on the metal shaft with sharp objects, as this may cause damage.
2Wipe the entire surface of the handle with a damp cloth.
Note: Do not use isopropyl rubbing alcohol, vinegar or bleach to clean handle as this may cause discoloration.
Brush head
1Rinse the brush head and bristles after each use (Fig. 17).
2Remove the brush head from the handle and rinse the brush head connection with warm water at least once a week.
Charging Pad & Travel Pouch
1Unplug the charger.
2Use a damp cloth to wipe the surface of the charging pad and travel pouch.

Storage
If you are not going to use your Philips Sonicare for an extended period of time, unplug the charger from the electrical outlet, clean it and store it in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.
Replacement
Brush head
Replace Philips Sonicare brush heads every 3 months to achieve optimal results. Use only Philips Sonicare replacement brush heads.
Recycling
-This symbol means that this product shall not be disposed of with normal household waste (2012/19/EU) (Fig. 27).
-This symbol means that this product contains a built-in rechargeable battery which shall not be disposed of with normal household waste (Fig. 28) (2006/66/EC). We strongly advise you to take your product to an official collection point or a Philips service centre to have a professional remove the rechargeable battery.
-Follow your country’s rules for the separate collection of electrical and electronic products and rechargeable batteries. Correct disposal helps prevent negative consequences for the environment and human health.
Removing the rechargeable battery
Warning: Only remove the rechargeable battery when you discard the appliance. Make sure the battery is completely empty when you remove it.
To remove the rechargeable battery, you need a towel or cloth, a hammer and a flat-head (standard) screwdriver. Observe basic safety precautions when you follow the procedure outlined below. Be sure to protect your eyes, hands, fingers, and the surface on which you work.

1To deplete the rechargeable battery of any charge, remove the handle from the charger, turn on the Philips Sonicare and let it run until it stops. Repeat this step until you can no longer turn on the Philips Sonicare.
2Remove and discard the brush head. Cover the entire handle with a towel or cloth (Fig. 18).
3Hold the top of the handle with one hand and strike the handle housing 0.5 inch above the bottom end. Strike firmly with a hammer on all 4 sides to eject the end cap (Fig. 19).
Note: You may have to hit on the end several times to break the internal snap connections.
4Remove the end cap from the toothbrush handle. If the end cap does not release easily from the housing, repeat step 3 until the end cap is released (Fig. 20).
5Holding the handle upside down, press the shaft down on a hard surface. If the internal components do not easily release from the housing, repeat step 3 until the internal components are released (Fig. 21).
6Remove the rubber battery cover (Fig. 22).
7Wedge the screwdriver between the battery and the black frame at the bottom of the internal components. Then pry the screwdriver away from the battery to break the bottom of the black frame (Fig. 23).
8Insert the screwdriver between the bottom of the battery and the black frame to break the metal tab connecting the battery to the green printed circuit board. This will release the bottom end of the battery from the frame (Fig. 24).
9Grab the battery and pull it away from the internal components to break the second metal battery tab (Fig. 25).
Caution: Be aware of the sharp edges of the battery tabs so as to avoid injury to your fingers.
10Cover the battery contacts with tape to prevent any electrical short from residual battery charge. The rechargeable battery can now be recycled and the rest of the product discarded appropriately (Fig.
26).

Vorbereiten für den Gebrauch
Den Bürstenkopf befestigen
1Richten Sie den Bürstenkopf so aus, dass die Borsten in die gleiche Richtung wie die Vorderseite des Handstücks (Abb. 2) zeigen.

2 Drücken Sie den Bürstenkopf auf den Metallschaft, bis er fest sitzt.
Hinweis: Philips Sonicare Bürstenköpfe sind mit aufgedruckten Symbolen versehen, damit Sie Ihren Bürstenkopf (Abb. 3) ganz einfach identifizieren können.
Hinweis: Ein kleiner Zwischenraum zwischen Bürstenkopf und Handstück (Abb. 4) ist normal.
Die Philips Sonicare Zahnbürste laden
1Stecken Sie den USB-Anschluss der drahtlosen Ladeschale in den Wandadapter und stecken Sie ihn in die Steckdose (Abb. 5).
2Platzieren Sie das Handstück vertikal auf der Ladeschale (die erhobene Oberfläche des Ladegeräts (Abb. 6)).
-Die Ladeschale piept, wenn die Zahnbürste korrekt auf der Ladeschale platziert ist.
Hinweis: Es kann einige Augenblicke dauern, bis die Ladeschale piept, denn die Ladeschale synchronisiert sich zuerst mit dem Handstück.
-Während die Zahnbürste aufgeladen wird, blinkt die Ladeanzeige an der Ladeschale weiß.
3Wenn die Zahnbürste vollständig aufgeladen ist, leuchtet die Ladeanzeige dauerhaft weiß (Abb. 7).
4Wenn die Ladeanzeige rot blinkt, wurde ein fremdes Objekt erkannt oder es liegt ein Kommunikationsfehler zwischen dem Handstück und der Ladeschale vor.
-Entfernen Sie in diesem Fall irgendwelche fremden Objekte von der Ladeschale und/oder versuchen Sie, das Handstück von der Ladeschale zu entfernen und dann erneut darauf zu platzieren.
Hinweis: Nach ca. 12 Stunden ist der Akku voll aufgeladen. Die Ladezeit kann variieren, wenn alternative Wandadapter verwendet werden.
Das Ladegerät ist nur zum ordnungsgemäßen Aufladen von jeweils einem Handstück zur gleichen Zeit ausgelegt. Mit diesem Ladesystem sollte nur das Handstück verwendet werden, das in diesem Karton mitgeliefert wird.

Das Ladegerät ist mit anderen Philips Sonicare Modellen nicht kompatibel.
Legen Sie keine Gegenstände aus Metall auf die Ladeschale, da dies den Aufladevorgang beeinträchtigen und zu einer Überhitzung des Metallobjekts führen kann.
Akkustatus (wenn sich das Handstück nicht im Ladegerät befindet)
Wenn Sie die Philips Sonicare aus der Ladeschale entfernen sowie nach einem Putzzyklus gibt die Akkuleuchte unten an der Zahnbürste den Status der Akkulebensdauer an.
-Kontinuierlich grün leuchtende LED: 2–3 Wochen Putzzyklen übrig
-Grün blinkende LED: Ungefähr 1 Woche Putzzyklen übrig Nur nach einem Putzzyklus
-Orangefarben blinkende LED und drei Pieptöne: Nur wenige Putzzyklen übrig
-Orangefarben blinkende LED und zweimal fünf Pieptöne: Keine Putzzyklen übrig (Zahnbürste aufladen)
Hinweis: Diese Angaben basieren auf einer Nutzung zweimal täglich im Clean-Modus. Andere Modi oder häufigere Nutzung können die Akkulebensdauer verkürzen.
Das Gerät benutzen
Putzanleitung
1Feuchten Sie die Borsten (Abb. 8) an.
2Tragen Sie etwas Zahnpasta auf die Borsten (Abb. 9) auf.
3Setzen Sie die Borsten der Zahnbürste in einem Winkel von ca. 45 Grad auf die Zähne, und wenden Sie etwas Druck an, sodass die Borsten den Zahnfleischrand (Abb. 10) erreichen oder leicht darüber hinaus reichen.
Hinweis: Halten Sie die Mitte der Bürste jederzeit im Kontakt mit den Zähnen.
4Drücken Sie den Ein-/Ausschalter bzw. die Modus-Taste, um die Philips Sonicare (Abb. 11) einzuschalten.

5Halten Sie die Borsten sanft auf den Zähnen und in der Zahnfleischlinie. Putzen Sie Ihre Zähne mit kleinen Vorwärtsund Rückwärtsbewegungen, damit die Borsten in die Zwischenräume zwischen den Zähnen (Abb. 12) gelangen.
Hinweis: Die Borsten sollten sich nur leicht verbiegen. Nicht schrubben.
6Zum Reinigen der Innenseite der Frontzähne kippen Sie das Handstück halb aufrecht, und führen Sie an jedem Zahn (Abb. 13) mehrere vertikale, überlappende Bürstenkopfbewegungen aus.
7Beginnen Sie mit dem Putzen des 1. Abschnittes (äußere obere Zähne) und putzen Sie für 30 Sekunden (45 Sekunden im Deep- Clean-Modus), bevor Sie zum 2. Abschnitt (innere obere Zähne) übergehen. Putzen Sie dann den 3. Abschnitt (äußere obere Zähne) und putzen Sie für 30 Sekunden (45 Sekunden im Deep- Clean-Modus), bevor Sie zum 4. Abschnitt (innere obere Zähne (Abb. 14)) übergehen.
Hinweis: Damit alle Zähne gleichmäßig geputzt werden, teilen Sie Ihren Mund mit der Quadpacer-Funktion in vier Abschnitte auf (siehe 'Produktmerkmale').
Hinweis: Nachdem Sie den Putzzyklus beendet haben, können Sie zusätzliche Zeit mit dem Putzen der Kauoberflächen und Bereichen, wo Abfärbungen auftreten, verbringen. Sie können auch die Zunge ganz nach Belieben (Abb. 15) mit einoder ausgeschalteter Zahnbürste putzen.
Die Philips Sonicare ist sicher für den Gebrauch bei:

Putzmodi
1Drücken Sie zur Modusumschaltung zweimal innerhalb von 5 Sekunden auf den Ein-/Ausschalter.

Bei Ihrer Philips Sonicare ist der Clean-Modus voreingestellt.

Hinweis: Wenn die Philips Sonicare in klinischen Studien eingesetzt wird, muss sie im standardmäßig eingestellten 2-minütigen CleanModus oder im Deep Clean-Modus mit ausgeschalteter Easy-Start- Funktion betrieben werden.
Clean-Modus
Optimal zur Plaque-Entfernung (Standardmodus). Der Clean-Modus dauert 2 Minuten und umfasst vier 30-sekündige QuadpacerIntervalle ein.
White-Modus
Zweiminütiger Modus zur Entfernung von oberflächlichen Verfärbungen und 30 Sekunden für das Aufhellen und Polieren Ihrer Vorderzähne.
Sensitive-Modus
2 Minuten dauernder extrasanfter Modus für empfindliche Zähne und empfindliches Zahnfleisch.
Zahnfleischpflegemodus
Vollständige Mundreinigung (2 Minuten) und vorsichtige Reinigung von Problemzonen entlang des Zahlfleischsaums (1 Minute).
Deep-Clean-Modus
Für ein erfrischendes, außergewöhnlich sauberes Putzerlebnis, bei dem 3 Minuten lang abwechselnd die Funktionen für Reinigung und Massage aktiv sind.

Quadpacer
Der Quadpacer ist ein Intervalltimer mit einem kurzen akustischen Signal gefolgt von einer Pause, damit die 4 Abschnitte des Mundes geputzt werden. Je nach gewähltem Putzmodus ertönt das Signal nach unterschiedlichen Intervallen des Putzzyklus. Der Quadpacer funktioniert in allen 5 Modi (Abb. 14).

Smartimer
Der Smartimer zeigt an, dass der Putzzyklus beendet ist, indem die Zahnbürste nach beendetem Putzzyklus automatisch ausgeschaltet wird.
Zahnärzte empfehlen, die Zähne zweimal täglich mindestens 2 Minuten lang zu putzen.
Easy-Start
Mit der Easy-Start-Funktion wird die Intensität über die ersten
14 Anwendungen schrittweise erhöht, damit Sie sich leichter an das Putzen mit der Philips Sonicare gewöhnen. Die Easy-Start-Funktion funktioniert nur im Cleanund im White-Modus. Bei diesem Philips Sonicare Modell ist die Easy-Start-Funktion voreingestellt.
Easy-Start-Funktion aktivieren oder deaktivieren
1Bringen Sie den Bürstenkopf am Handstück an.
2Stellen Sie das Handstück auf die Ladeschale.
So aktivieren Sie Easy-Start:
Halten Sie den Ein-/Ausschalter und die Modus-Taste 2 Sekunden lang gedrückt. Sie hören zwei Signaltöne, die signalisieren, dass die Easy-Start-Funktion aktiviert wurde.

Hinweis: Die ersten 14 Putzzyklen müssen jeweils mindestens eine Minute dauern, damit der jeweilige Zyklus von der Easy-Start- Funktion ordnungsgemäß durchlaufen wird.
Unterwegs mit dem Gerät
1 Öffnen Sie die Reisetasche und entfernen Sie die mittlere Einlage.

2Legen Sie das Ladegerät und den Wandadapter unten in die Tasche.
3Legen Sie den Zahnbürstengriff unterhalb des elastischen Bands in die mittlere Einlage, sodass der Griff während der Reise an seinem Platz bleibt.
4Setzen Sie die mittlere Einlage wieder in die Reisetasche ein.
5Bürstenköpfe können in der Netztasche der Reisetasche verwahrt werden.
Pflege
Hinweis: Bürstenkopf, Halter, Ladestation oder USB-Reisetasche dürfen nicht in der Spülmaschine gereinigt werden. Das Glas ist spülmaschinenfest.
Handstück der Zahnbürste
1Nehmen Sie den Bürstenkopf ab, und spülen Sie den Bereich des Metallschafts mit warmem Wasser. Vergewissern Sie sich, dass alle Zahnpastarückstände (Abb. 16) entfernt sind.
Hinweis: Drücken Sie nicht mit scharfkantigen Gegenständen auf die Gummidichtung um den Metallschaft, da diese dadurch beschädigt werden kann.
2Wischen Sie das gesamte Handstück mit einem feuchten Tuch ab.
Hinweis: Reinigen Sie das Handstück nicht mit IsopropanolReinigungsalkohol, Essig oder Bleichmittel, da dies zu Verfärbungen führen kann.
Bürstenkopf
1Spülen Sie Bürstenkopf und Borsten nach jedem Gebrauch (Abb. 17) unter fließendem Wasser ab.
2Nehmen Sie mindestens einmal pro Woche den Bürstenkopf vom Handstück, und spülen Sie die Verbindung zwischen Bürstenkopf und Handstück mit warmem Wasser ab.
Ladeschale und Reisetasche
1Ziehen Sie den Netzstecker des Ladegeräts.
2Wischen Sie die Oberfläche der Ladeschale und der Reisetasche mit einem feuchten Tuch ab.
