1 INTRODUCTION

The recent introduction of the new Fluke color scopemeter triggered the PMS Tool Committee to investigate
and compare this new instrument with the actual recommended model PMS-199.

In close coorparation with the Professor Holst Training Centre both instruments have been compared.
Compare results:

• The Fluke 199Color is more sensitive (2mV/div) than the actual 199 model (5 mV/div). It is therefore
more useful for measuring video signals.

• The full -color display Fluke199Color) makes identification of individual waveforms easier, particularly
when displaying large amplitude or multiple overlapping waveforms on screen. On -screen color labels,
measurements and warnings are clearly linked to specific waveforms.

• The Digital Persistence mode (Fluke 190Color) helps to find anomalies and to analyze complex dynamic
signals by showing the waveforms amplitude distribution over time.

• One of the new features with the Fluke190Color is the waveform pass/fail testing. Waveform reference
allows an acquired trace to be stored and designated “reference trace” for visual comparisons.

• Improved trigger response for video measurements compared to the model 199.

• Faster response of keys à Cursors and Move button

New contract:
As a result of the recommendation a special package, the “Fluke PMS-199Color/C0x” will be made available
for Philips Medical Systems and a new contract has been agreed upon with Fluke.
This contract offers a considerable discount on the standard listprice (world-wide coverage).

The contract for the actual model PMS-199 will remain and this model can still be ordered.

2.1 CONFIGURATION:

FLK-199Color: ScopeMeter 190C series: 200MHz - 2.5_GS/s real time sampling -

dual channel digital oscilloscope with Color display and Digital Persistence and
integrated protective holster. “Waveform Compare” mode included.

MA190 Medical Accessory Kit:

• 50-Ohms terminator (TR190 -50R)

• 50-Ohms terminator with 10:1 attenuation (TA190-50R)

4 PROBE 1:1

The ScopeMeter PMS-199Color/C0x is delivered with two 10:1 probes. For most work situations, the minimal
scale of 20mV/division of these probes is sufficient.
Especially for video measurements in systems with DSI, Integris V3k/H3k, XTV11D/S/T, a sensitivity of at
least 5mV/div. is necessary.
Use of the Fluke probe model VPS121 (1:1 probe) is recommended.
In combination with the PMS-199Color/C0x this allows for a sensitivity of 2mV/division!

Please note that this probe is also compatible with the ScopeMeter Fluke model 199.

6 FLUKE VIEW SOFTWARE

Together with the PMS-199 Color ScopeMeter a CD-Rom with FlukeView software is Included.
The FlukeView ScopeMeter software helps you get more out of your ScopeMeter by:

Documenting Transfer screens, waveforms, and measurement data from the ScopeMeter to

your PC for printing, or to import data to other programs

Archiving Store and retrieve waveforms with text annotations and create your own library

for easy reference and comparison

Analysis Gather valuable measurement data and enable cursor measurements to reveal

relationships and conditions. Extended recording of up to four user-selected
measurements help you monitor and analyze slow moving signals and related
events. Upload waveforms to the PC and use cursors for detailed
measurements. Perform waveform analysis, including analyzing harmonics

Releases:

• version 4.1 which is suitable for the Fluke ScopeMeter Series 120 – 190 – 190B – 190C incl. the medical
versions

7 SPECIAL PMS COMMON SETTINGS

Due to the received feedback already common settings files have become available for the actual model
PMS-199 (see Tool Catalogue TC095).

In close corporation with the training centre also fixed settings will become available for the new Fluke 199
color (expected end May 2003). With these fi xed settings the Field Service Engineer can easily recall the
common measurement into the Fluke scopemeter.

These settings files will also become available with the CS softwar e cd-rom
edition 2003 – 03.
