Preparing for use
1 Wash all detachable parts (see chapter ‘Cleaning’).
2 Unwind the cord from the bottom of the appliance (Fig. 2).
3 Place the juice collector on the motor unit (1). To place the pulp
container, tilt it forwards slightly (2). Insert the top end of the pulp
container rst and then push home the bottom end (Fig. 3).
To empty the pulp container while you are juicing, switch off the appliance
and carefully remove the pulp container.
Note: Reassemble the empty pulp container before you continue juicing.
4 Put the lter in the juice collector (1). Hold the lid over the lter and
lower it into position (2) (Fig. 4).
Make sure the lter is tted securely onto the driving shaft (‘click’).
Always check the lter before use. If you detect any cracks or damage, do
not use the appliance. Contact the nearest Philips service centre or take
the appliance to your dealer.
5 Lift the locking arm to locked position (‘click’). Align the groove in the
pusher with the small protrusion on the inside of the feeding tube
and slide the pusher into the feeding tube (Fig. 5).
Make sure the locking arm is in the locked position.
6 Put the lid on the juice jug to avoid splattering. Place the juice jug
under the spout (Fig. 6).
7 Push the spout downwards before you start juicing.
Note: When the spout is in upward position, it functions as a drip stop when the
appliance is switched off. However, if you leave the spout in upward position
during juicing, juice splashes out the spout.
Using the appliance
The appliance only functions if all parts are assembled properly and the lid is
properly locked in place with the locking arm.
1 Wash the fruit and/or vegetables and if necessary cut them into
pieces that t into the feeding tube. (Fig. 7)
2 Slide the foam separator into the juice jug (1) and place the lid on the
juice jug (2). In this way, the foam stays behind in the jug when you
pour out the juice. (Fig. 8)
Note: If you want your drink to have a foamy layer, do not use the foam
separator.
Note: If you want to store the juice in the refrigerator, make sure the lid is on
the juice jug.
3 Make sure the juice jug is placed under the spout and the spout is in
downward position.
4 Turn the control switch to setting 1 (low speed ) or 2 (high speed) to
switch on the appliance. (Fig. 9)
-Speed 1 is especially suitable for soft fruits and vegetables such as
watermelons, grapes, tomatoes, cucumbers and raspberries.
-Speed 2 is suitable for all other kinds of fruits and vegetables.
5 Put the pieces of fruit or vegetables in the feeding tube and gently
press them down towards the rotating lter with the pusher (Fig. 10).
Do not exert too much pressure on the pusher, as this could affect the
amount of juice output.
Tip: The slower you press, the more juice output you get.
ENGLISH8
Never insert your ngers or an object into the feeding tube.
After you have processed all ingredients and the juice ow has stopped,
switch off the appliance and wait until the lter has stopped rotating.
6 Push the spout upwards to prevent juice from dripping out of the
spout.
Tips
-Use fresh fruit and vegetables, as they contain more juice. Pineapples,
beetroots, celer y stalks, apples, cucumbers, carrots, spinach, melons,
tomatoes, pomegranates and grapes are particularly suitable for
processing in the juicer.
-You do not have to remove thin peels or skins. Only remove peels
which you would not eat, e.g. those of oranges, pineapples, kiwis,
melons and uncooked beetroots.
-When you prepare apple juice, remember that the thickness of the
apple juice depends on the kind of apple you use. The juicier the apple,
the thinner the juice. Choose a kind of apple that produces the type of
juice you prefer.
-Apple juice turns brown very quickly. To slow down this process, add a
few drops of lemon juice.
-Fruits that contain starch, such as bananas, papayas, avocados, gs and
mangoes are not suitable for processing in the juicer. Use a food
processor, blender or bar blender to process these fruits.
-Leaves and leaf stalks of e.g. lettuce can also be processed in the juicer.
-Drink the juice immediately after you have extracted it. If it is exposed
to air for some time, the juice loses its taste and nutritional value.
-To extract the maximum amount of juice, always press the pusher down
slowly.
-The juicer is not suitable for processing very hard and/or brous/starchy
fruits or vegetables such as sugar cane.
-Citrus fruits can also be processed with the juicer, remove the white
pith of citrus fruits because it has a bitter taste.
Cleaning
Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids
such as alcohol, petrol or acetone to clean the appliance.
The appliance is easier to clean if you do so immediately after use.
1 Switch off the appliance. Remove the plug from the wall socket and
wait until the lter has stopped rotating.
2 Remove the dirty parts from the motor unit. Disassemble the juicer
in the following order:
-Remove the pusher;
-Lower the locking arm to unlocked position;
-Remove the lid;
-Remove the pulp container.
3 Remove the juice collector together with the lter (Fig. 11).
4 Clean the detachable spout with the small side of the brush. Clean all
parts except the motor unit with the cleaning brush in warm water
with some washing-up liquid and rinse them under the tap.
Note: All detachable parts are dishwasher-safe. Place the detachable plastic
parts on the top tray of the dishwasher. Make sure they are placed well away
from the heating element.
5 Clean the motor unit with a damp cloth.
Never immerse the motor unit in water nor rinse it under the tap.
Storage
1 Store the mains cord in the cord storage facility by winding it round
the base of the motor unit.
Environment
-Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at
the end of its life, but hand it in at an ofcial collection point for
