1. Do not reach for a charging stand while plugged in that has fallen into water. Unplug immediately.

Battery Status Indicator
I The Battery Status Indicator on the StyleShaver
will flash white to indicate StyleShaver is (re)charging.
I The Battery Status Indicator lights up white
continuously to indicate the StyleShaver is fully charged.
I After StyleShaver is fully charged, the charging
light goes out after 30 minutes to save energy.
Before First Use
I Charge the StyleShaver before you start
using it (see 'Charging'). Make sure the StyleShaver is switched off before you start clurging it.
> Before using, check foil, cutters, trimmers and
combs for wear or damage. If foil, cutters, trimmers or combs show signs of wear or damage, do not use StyleShaver as injury may occur. Do not use StyleShaver until foil, cutters, trimmers or combs have been replaced.
Charging
> Charging requires 1 hour (QS6160) or
4 hours (QS6140).
I Use only the power cord and charging stand
provided.
I Charging, recharging or scoring at temperatures
below 40'*F or higher than 95®F adversely affects lifetime of batteries.
I The StyleShaver can only be charged in the
charging stand.
n Be certain StyleShaver is OFF.
□ Connect poNver cord to charging stand (Rg. 1). NOTE The small plug is easiest to insert when
the charging stand is folded.
□ Unfold the charging stand (Rg. 2).
□ Plug the adaptor into any 120V AC oudet.
Use only the power cord provided.
I An adaptor plug may be necessary for power
cord usage in some foreign countries. Use an attachment plug adaptor of the proper configuration for the power outlet.
B Put the StyleShaver in the charging stand with
the shaving head pointing upwards (Fig. 3). Make sure the charging contacts on each side of the StyleShaver fit into the charging stand correctly. When placed correctly, the charging tight will flash white to indicate the StyleShaver is (re)charging (Fig. 4).
Q A fully charged StyleShaver has a cordless
grooming time of up to 75 minutes.

When the battery is fully charged, the Battery Status Indicator lights up white continuously for 30 minutes and then will go out.
□ Disconnect the power cord and unplug from
the electrical outlet.
Recharging
D Recharge when the Battery Status Indicator
flashes orange. This indicates there is approximately 10 minutes of operating time left.
If the Battery Status Indicator flashes orange
quickly, the battery is completely empty. Charge
the StyleShaver before using.
B When StyleShaver is fully charged, disconnect
the power cord and unplug from electrical outlet.
Trimming
I Use this StyleShaver for its intended household
use as described in this manual.
I Always comb your beard and/or moustache
with a fine comb before you start trimming.
I If you are trimming for the first time, be
careful. Do not move the StyleShaver too fast. Make smooth and gentle movements.
I After trimming, residual hair length can vary
depending on hair type.
Trimming With Trimming Comb
I The trimming combs let you trim facial hair
to different lengths.
I Use the beard comb to trim your beard and
mousuche.
I Use the detail comb (QS6I60 only) to trim
hard-to-reach areas, such as under the nose.
I Trimming is easier when the skin and hair
are dry.
> The hair length settings are indicated on the
StyleShaver.The settings correspond to the remaining hair length after trimming.
I The trimming combs cut hair to a length of
3/64- 13/32 in. (1-10 mm).
D Hold the StyleShaver in the trimming
position, with the trimming head pointing up (Fig. 5).
B Slide the trimming comb into the guiding
grooves of the St)4eShaver (Fig. 6).
B Press and turn the Zoom Wheel left or right
to select a setting (Fig. 7). See Table for settings and corresponding hair lengths.
-The line above the Zoom Wheel indicates the setting selected (Rg 8).
> If you are trimming for the first time, start by
using the maximum trimming length setting of 13/32 in.(10mm) to prevent accidentally trimming hairs too shorcAs you become familiar with the settings, adjust Zoom Wheel to desired trimming setting.
□ Press the trimming head on/off button once
to turn trimming head ON (Fig. 9). The on/off button lights up to indkate trimming head is ON (QS6160 only).
I If you turn the trimming head on while the
shaving head is also on. the shaving head will turn off.
B To trim in the most effective way. move the
StyleShaver against the direction of hair
growth. Do not move the StyleShaver too
fast. Make smooth and gentle movements and
make sure the surface of the trimming comb
always stays in contact with the skin (Fig. 10).
NOTE: Since all hairs do not grow in the same direction, you may want to try different trimming pQsrtions_(i.e.. upwards. downwacds or across). Practice is best for optimum resuKs.
□ Turn the StyleShaver OFF.
B Clean the StyleShaver (see section 'Cleaning').

B Remove the trimming comb by pulling it off
the StyleShaver (Rg. 11). Never pull off comb by grasping the flexible top portion. Always pull off by the bottom part of the conk>.
B Press the trimming head on/off button once
to turn trimming head ON (Fig. 9). □ Hold the StyleShaver in the trimming
position, with the trimming head pointing
up (Fig. 5).
B Make downward strokes with the broad
side of the trimming head.
Using the Precision Trimmer Use the precision trimmer for precise trimming
around cars. skJcboms, mouth and under the nose. □ Turn the trimmer head until the precision
trimmer points to the front of the StyleShaver (Fig. 12).
Q Press the trimming head orVoff button to
turn trimming head ON (Fig. 9).
D Hold the StyleShaver with the trimming head
pointing up and make downward strokes with the precision trimmer.
Shaving
I The StyleShaver should be used on fecial
hair only.
I Use the shaving head with shaving gel or foam
for extra skin comfort or use dry for extra convenience.
I When shaving sensitive areas for the first time,
you may feel some discomfort, irritation or reddening of the skin. This is normal as your skin needs time to adjust to shaving.
I If your hair is l^ger than 13/32 in. / 10 mm. trim
hair using a trimmer comb first for optimum shaving results.
I Be certain that your skin is clean before using
the StyleShaver.
I Make sure the shaving head is in complete
contact with your skin for the closest shave
and minimum foil wear. I Pressing too hard may cause skin irritations. I Practice is best for optimum results.
D Hold the StyleShaver in the shaving position,
with the shaving head pointing upwards and the trimming head pointing downv^rds (Fig.13).
Q Turn StyleShaver ON by pressing the shaving
head on/off button (Fig. 14). The on/off button lights up to indicate shaving head is on (QS6160 only).
B Stretch your skin taut with your free hand
and gently press StyleShaver to skin and
move it slovdy and smoothly against the
direction of hair growth (Fig. 15). DO NOT
press too hard.Too much pressure can
distort the foil and cause skin irritation. For optimal results, make circular movements during use.
□ Make sure the shaving head is always in full
contact with your skin.
TIP: If using wtt, rinse the shoving head often under the tap to ensure it continues to glide smoothly over your skin.
B Turn StyleShaver OFF by pressing the shaving
head on/off button (Fig. 14).
Overload Protection If you press the trimming or shaving head too hard
on your skin or the cutting element gels bkxked. the on/off button of the blocked trimming or ^ving head quickly flashes (QS6160 only) and the appliance turns off automatically. Clean the appliance (see 'Cleaning' section).

I The StyleShaver should be cleaned after each
use.
I Always switch StyleShaver OFF and remove
StyleShaver from charging stand before cleaning.
I Do not use compressed air. abrasive
cleaning agents, scourers or aggressive liquids such as alcohol, benzene bleach or acetone to clean the appliance.
I Never clean, remove or replace trimmer or
shavir^ head assembly while motor is on.
I Do not apply pressure to shaving head. Do not
touch foil with hard objects as this may dent or damage foil or cutters. If damage occurs, replace damaged parts.
I Do not use StyleShaver if foil, cutters, trimmers
or combs are damaged or broken as injury rrtay occur.
I Only use the cleaning brush supplied. Any other
brush may cause damage.
□ Use the cleaning brush to remove hairs
from the cutters (Fig. 18).
B Do not use a towel or cloth to dry shaving
foil or cutters as this may cause damage. Allow to air dry thoroughly.
□ Reattach the shaving head by snapping it back
onto the StyleShaver (Rg. 19). You will hear a ‘click*.
Cleaning the trimming head
O Always switch StyleShaver OFF and remove
StyleShaver from the charging stand before cleaning (Fig. 9).
B Pull the comb off the trimming head (Fig. 11). B Rinse the trimming head with warm running
tap water (Fig. 20).
Cleaning the trimming head connector Note: Make sure to clean the trimming head
connector at least every 3 months.
D Always switch StyleShaver OFF and remove
StyleShaver from the charging stand before cleaning (Fig. 9).
B Gently pull trimming head off the StyleShaver
(Fig. 21).
B Remove the hairs from the inside of the
trimming head connector with the cleaning brush (Fig. 22).
□ Clean the inside of the trimming head with
the cleanir^ brush (Fig. 23).
B Place the trimming head back on the
StyleShaver (Rg. 24).
Replacing the Shaving Foil Head
I if the shaving foil and cutters are worn or
damaged, do not continue using the StyleShaver. Replace the shaving foil and cutters immediately.
> It is recommended that you replace your
shaving foil and cutters once a year.
t A worn or damaged shaving foil or cutters
should only be replaced with an original Philips Norelco shaving foil, rrtodel QS6100, which is available on the Philips Norelco website. www.philips.com/support or call 1-800*243-3050 for assistance.
> The foil is a precision part. Handle with care.
D Always switch StyleShaver OFF and remove
StyleShaver from the charging stand before replacing shaving foil.
B Remove the shaving foil head by pulling it off
the appliance.
B Place the new shavir^ foil head on the
StyleShaver by snapping it into place. You will hear a "click".
After replacing the shaving foil head, check that the shaving head is firmly attached before using StyleShaver.

Travel Lock (QS6160 only)
You can lock the appliance when you arc going to travcI.The travel lock prevents the appliance from being switched on by accident.
Activating the travel lock
n Press and hold the trimming on/off button
or the shaving on/off button for at least 4 seconds.
i The travel lock indication flashes 3 times.
The travel lock is only activated when the indication lights up continuously.
Deactivating the travel lock
n Press and hold the trimming on/off button
or the shaving on/off button for at least 4 seconds.
Storage
> Fold the charging stand for easy travelling or
storage (Rg. 25).
I Put the protective cap on the shaving head
(Fig. 26).
I Be sure StyleShaver is turned off. Remove
power cord from outlet and charging stand
before storing in a safe, dry location where it will not be crushed, banged, or subject to damage.
> Do not wrap power cord around StyleShaver/
charging stand when storing.
I Store cord in a safe location where it will not
be cut or damaged.
I Do not place or store StyleShaver/charging
stand where it can fell or be pulled into a tub or sink, water or other liquid while plugged in.
Battery Removal
The StyleShaver battery may only be removed when the StyleShaver is to be discarded.
I This Philips Norelco StyleShaver contains
a Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery which must be disposed of properly (Fig. 27).

from charging stand before dismanding. Allow the StyleShaver to run until the batteries are completely empty/depleted. Turn StyleShaver OFF.

B Remove the shaving head and cutters from
appliance.
B Undo the four screws of the top cover with
a screwdriver.
□ Remove the cover.
B Insert a screwdriver under the back panel
and remove panel.
B Insert a screwdriver under the cover of the
basic body and remove cover.
You will see a printed circuit board.
B Break the battery from the printed-circuit
board.

B Do not attempt to replace battery. Insulate
battery ends by covering with cape and/or place battery in a small plastic bag.
B Discard StyleShaver. Do not attempt to plug
electrical cord into the outlet or recharge StyleShaver after the batteries have been removed.

Cleaning the shaving head D Always switch StyleShaver OFF and remove
StyleShaver from the charging stand before cleaning (Fig. 9).
B Remove the shaving foil head by pulling it off
the appliance (Fig. 16).
Hold the shaving l^ad by the plastic housing only.
B Rinse the shaving head under warm running
tap water to rinse away debris (Fig. 17).
