Sonicare\ has been carefully engineered for both effectiveness and
safety. However, basic safety precautions should always be followed
when using any electrical product, especially when children are present.

Danger

To reduce the risk of electrocution:

1) Do not place or store the charger where it can fall or be pulled into
a bathtub or washbasin.

2) Do not place or drop the charger into water or other liquid.

3) Do not reach for a charger that has fallen into water. Unplug
immediately.

4) Do not use while bathing.

5) Do not plug the charger into a socket that supplies a voltage for
which the charger is unsuitable. It has been designed for use with a
specific electrical voltage.

6) Refer to the bottom of the charger for voltage specification.Voltage
converters or plug adapters DO NOT guarantee voltage
compatibility. Never force the plug into a socket.

Warning

To reduce the risk of burns, electrocution, fire or injury:

1) Close supervision is necessary when this product is used by or on
children or the disabled.

2) Use this product only for its intended purpose as described in this
booklet. Do not use attachments not recommended by the
manufacturer. See voltage information above.

3) Never operate the charger if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is
not working properly, if it has been dropped or if it has been
dropped into water. For further instructions, contact your local
Philips Customer Care Centre.

4) Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.

Medical warnings

1) Avoid using a brush head with crushed or bent bristles. Damaged
bristles may break off while brushing. In order to prevent this,
replace the brush head with a new one every 6 months or sooner if
signs of wear appear.

2) Similar to starting with any new manual or electric oral hygiene
product, consult your dental professional before using this appliance
if you have had oral or gum surgery in the previous 2 months.

3) Contact your dental professional if excessive bleeding occurs after
using this product or if bleeding continues to occur after 1 week of
use.

4) If you have any questions concerning usage with a pacemaker or
other implanted device, consult your physician or the implanted
device manufacturer prior to use. Sonicare has been tested and is
compliant with safety standards for electromagnetic devices.

5) The Sonicare toothbrush is a personal care appliance and is not
intended for use on multiple patients in a dental office or institution.

6) This product is designed for cleaning teeth, gums and tongue only.
Do not use it for any other purpose.

Preparing for use

To attach the Sonicare brush head:

1 Align the front of the brush head with the front of the

toothbrush handle. Match the bars on the brush head with the
notches inside the top of the handle and slide the brush head
onto the handle.

C

2 Turn the brush head nut clockwise until it is firmly tightened.

If the brush head rattles during use, tighten the nut further.

Charging the Sonicare\

Sonicare comes with the batteries completely discharged and should
be charged for at least 24 hours during the first few days of use.

1 To charge your Sonicare, place the handle in the charger with

the Sonicare logo facing forward. Make sure the bottom of the
handle sits back securely in the charger, making complete
contact.

C

◗ When the handle is placed incorrectly in the charger, the green

charge indicator LED will still light up, but charging will not take
place.

Handles of other Sonicare models do not fit in this charger and will
therefore not charge effectively. Do not attempt to force a handle into
this charger as this will cause damage.
It is recommended that you keep your Sonicare in the charger when
not in use to maintain a full battery charge. It takes at least 24 hours to
fully charge Sonicare's battery.

Using the appliance

Useful tips

◗ You can use your favourite toothpaste with your Sonicare.
◗ The brush head comes with a convenient travel cap. Remove the

travel cap from the brush head before switching on your Sonicare.

◗ Place the brush head in your mouth before switching on your

Sonicare, and be sure to switch it off before removing it from
your mouth, otherwise toothpaste may splatter.

◗ Rinse the brush head and bristles after each use.
◗ Clean the brush head weekly, including under the nut.
◗ A fully charged Sonicare will provide approximately 2 weeks of

typical use (2 minutes of brushing twice a day),making it easy to
travel without the charger.

Remember: voltage converters and plug adapters DO NOT guarantee
voltage compatibility. Always check for voltage compatibility.

Tips for specific oral care needs

◗ Stain removal

In areas where staining occurs, a few seconds of additional brushing
time may be spent to assist with stain removal.

◗ Braces

The brush should be placed at a 45-degree angle between your
brackets and gumline. While applying light pressure, gently move the
bristles in a small circular motion so that the long bristles reach

between your teeth for 2 seconds.Then gently turn (roll) the brush
handle so the bristles clean the bracket and the rest of the tooth
before you move the bristles to the next tooth. Continue this until you
have brushed all of your teeth.

◗ Dental restorations

Use the Sonicare on dental restorations (e.g. implants, caps, crowns,
bridges and fillings) as you would on your normal tooth surfaces to
reduce plaque build-up and improve gum health.Work the bristles
around all areas of the restoration for thorough cleaning.

◗ Periodontal pockets

Your dental professional may have indicated that you have periodontal
pockets, deep pockets where plaque bacteria collect. If this is the case,
after brushing for a full 2 minutes, spend extra time gently brushing
these areas to improve your gum health.You may want to take
advantage of the Programmable Quadpacer\ timer feature
(see section 'Programmable Quadpacer timer').

Proper brushing technique

Follow these simple steps to maximise your brushing experience:

C

1 Before switching the Sonicare on, place the bristles of the

brush head on your gumline at a 45-degree angle.

2 Hold the handle with a light grip, switch the Sonicare on, and

glide the brush across your teeth.

3 To maximise Sonicare's effectiveness apply only light pressure

and let the Sonicare toothbrush do the brushing for you.
Do not scrub.

4 The angled brush head and slender neck help you reach the

back teeth and the tooth surfaces on the inside of the mouth.
Be sure to adjust your brushing to use the angle to your
advantage and keep as many bristles in contact with the teeth
as possible.

5 To make sure you brush evenly throughout the mouth, divide

your mouth into 4 sections: outside of upper teeth, inside of
upper teeth, outside of lower teeth and inside of lower teeth.
Begin brushing in section 1 (outside of upper teeth) and brush
for 30 seconds before moving to section 2 (inside of upper
teeth). Continue brushing the other two sections for 30
seconds until you have completed the 2-minute brushing cycle.
If activated, the Programmable Quadpacer\ timer will beep
every 30 seconds to signal you to move to the next quadrant.

6 After having completed the 2-minute brushing cycle, the

Sonicare will switch off automatically. If you want, you can
switch the toothbrush back on for another brushing cycle and
spend additional time brushing the chewing surfaces of your
teeth.

7 You may also brush your tongue, with the toothbrush switched

on or off, as you prefer.

8 You may experience a slight tickling or tingling sensation after

using an electronic toothbrush such as the Sonicare for the
first time.As you become accustomed to brushing with the
Sonicare this sensation will diminish.

Special features

Features that simplify brushing:

Easy-start\ brushing power ramp-up

◗ All Sonicare models come with the Easy-start feature activated,

which helps you get used to brushing with the Sonicare.

◗ The brushing power will gently increase to full power over the

first 14 brushings.

◗ The Easy-start feature is active if you hear 2 beeps immediately

after switching on your Sonicare. Once the appliance has reached
optimal brushing power (after the 14th brushing), you will no
longer hear the double beep at the beginning of the brushing
cycle.

Note: Each of the first 14 brushings must be at least 1 minute in length
to properly advance through the Easy-start ramp-up cycle.

To deativate or reactivate the Easy-start feature:

1 Attach the brush head to the handle.

2 Place the handle in the plugged-in charger.

3 To deactivate Easy-start:

Press and hold the on/off button for 2 seconds.You will hear 1 beep to
indicate that the Easy-start feature has been deactivated.

4 To reactivate Easy-start:

Press and hold the on/off button until you hear 2 beeps.This indicates
that the Easy-start feature is active again.

Using the Easy-start feature beyond the initial ramp-up period is not
recommended and reduces the effectiveness of the Sonicare in
removing plaque.

The Easy-start feature should be deactivated when the Sonicare is used
in clinical trials.

Smartimer\ 2-minute timer

◗ All Sonicare models come with the Smartimer feature, which

automatically sets the brushing time to the 2 minutes
recommended by dental professionals.After these 2 minutes, your
Sonicare will automatically switch off.If you wish to brush for a
longer period, simply press the on/off button and another 2-minute
cycle will start.

◗ If you wish to pause or stop brushing during your 2-minute cycle,

press the on/off button. If you press the on/off button again, the
Smartimer will resume where you left off.

The Smartimer will automatically reset to the beginning of a 2-minute
cycle if:

- brushing is paused for 30 seconds or longer;

- the handle is returned to the charger.

Quadpacer\ 30-second interval timer

C

◗ The Quadpacer feature ensures that you brush all sections of

your mouth evenly and thoroughly.At 30-second intervals (at 30,
60 and 90 seconds in case of a 2-minute brushing cycle), you will
hear a short beep and notice a brief pause in brushing action.This
is your signal to move to the next section of your mouth.

Programmable Quadpacer timer (specific models only)

The Programmable Quadpacer timer allows you to customise the
Quadpacer performance in 1 of 3 ways:

◗ You may opt to keep the factory default setting of a 2-minute

brushing time with Programmable Quadpacer beeps activated.

◗ You may choose to extend your brushing time to 2 1/2 minutes

by adding an additional 30-second interval.

◗ You may choose a 2-minute brushing time, but with the

Quadpacer beeps deactivated.

To change the Programmable Quadpacer settings:

1 Place the handle in the charger that is plugged into a live

socket.

2 Press the Dual Speed Control button briefly and note which

LED lights up.

3 Press and hold the Dual Speed Control button.Continue to

hold the button while the LEDs slowly cycle through the timing
interval setting options:

◗ Green LED in position 4: Programmable Quadpacer active

(factory default setting).

C

◗ Green LED in top (5th) position: 2 1/2 minute setting - the

Programmable Quadpacer active with an additional 30-second
timing interval.

C

◗ Yellow LED in bottom (1st) position: no timing intervals set - the

Quadpacer not active.

4 To program the desired setting, release the button when the

LED corresponding to your choice lights up.

Note: Selecting 2 1/2 minutes brushing time reduces the number of
brushings available from a charged battery.

Dual Speed Control (specific models only)

The Dual Speed Control feature allows you to choose between
2 speed settings: Normal speed for optimal brushing performance, or
Reduced speed when an even more gentle brushing action is desired.

Each time you switch your Sonicare on, it will begin brushing at the
Normal speed setting.To change the speed setting:

1 From Normal to Reduced speed: press the Dual Speed Control

button once during brushing.

2 From Reduced to Normal speed: press the Dual Speed Control

button a second time during brushing.

A distinctive two-tone beep indicates that the speed setting has been
changed.

It is recommended that you brush at the Normal speed setting to
maintain optimal results.

The Normal speed setting should be selected when the Sonicare is
used in clinical trials.

Battery charge indicator (specific models only)

C

◗ If the battery charge of your Sonicare is low, you will hear 3 beeps

after you have brushed your teeth for 2 minutes and the charge
indicator LED will blink yellow for 30 seconds.

A low charge indication signifies that 3 or fewer 2-minute brushings
remain.
When not in use, keep the Sonicare in the charger to maintain a full
battery charge.

Multiple-LED charge indicator (specific models only)

◗ When the handle is placed in the charger, the green charge

indicator LEDs will blink in a rising pattern as the battery charges.
The number of blinking LEDs indicates the level to which the
battery has been charged.

When the battery reaches full charge, the LEDs stop blinking and start
to burn continuously. About once a minute, the charge indicator LEDs
go out momentarily and then go back on.This indicates that the
battery is being maintained at full charge.The full charge indication will
persist until the handle is removed from the charger.
The blinking yellow LED indicates that fewer than 3 brushings remain.

Single-LED charge indicator (specific models only)

◗ When the handle is placed in the charger, the charge indicator

LED will blink green as the battery charges.When the battery
reaches full charge, the charge indicator LED will burn green
continuously until the handle is removed from the charger.

When your Sonicare is switched on or off, the charge indicator LED
will blink yellow if the battery charge is low.

Luxury brush holder (specific models only)

◗ Some Sonicare models come with a luxury brush holder.

Cleaning

Simple tips for care

By following these simple steps, you should get years of worry-free
brushing:

C

1 Rinse the brush head and bristles after each use.

C

2 Clean the brush head weekly, including under the nut.

3 To remove the nut:

C

◗ Press down gently on the grey seal area.

Avoid using sharp objects to push on the seal as this may cause
damage.

C

◗ Push the nut up over the end of the brush head.

4 To reassemble the nut, slip the nut over the brush head shaft

and insert the lower part of the brush head into the handle.
Turn the nut clockwise until it is firmly tightened and the nut
snaps into the seal.

5 Clean the handle weekly.

6 Clean the charger periodically.

Unplug the charger before cleaning.

7 Examine the mains cord periodically. Do not use the charger if

the mains cord is damaged.

8 Use the cord wrap facility in the bottom of the charger to

store excess cord.

UNPLUG the charger before cleaning. After cleaning the charger
completely dry the charger before connecting it to the mains.

Mild soap, water and a moist cloth are recommended for cleaning your
Sonicare.

Replacement

Brush head

To maintain optimal brushing results, Sonicare brush heads should be
replaced every 6 months or sooner if signs of wear appear.

Use only Sonicare Elite\ series replacement brush heads.

Environment

The handle contains a nickel cadmium battery.The battery must be
recycled or disposed of in an environmentally safe way.

The battery inside your Sonicare cannot be replaced, but can be easily
removed for recycling.At the end of product life and prior to disposal,
please remove the battery from the handle by following the
instructions below.
Please note that this process is NOT reversible.

◗ Do not throw the battery away with the normal household waste,

but hand it in at an official collection point.

For information about Sonicare's battery recycling programme or
instructions on recycling your Sonicare, contact the Philips Customer
Care Centre in your country.

Removing the battery

Caution should be exercised when using any household tools (such as
a screwdriver) to remove the battery.

1 Deplete the battery of any charge by removing the handle from

the charger, switching the Sonicare on and allowing it to run

until it stops. Repeat this step until the product will no longer
operate.

2 Remove the soft-touch rib by inserting a screwdriver under it

and breaking it out.

C

3 Remove the nut from the brush head and place it onto the

handle.Tighten the nut onto the handle (A) until the housing
comes loose and then pull the nut forward (B).

C

4 Insert a screwdriver between the electronic circuit board and

the plastic part close to each end of the battery; twist and
break the connection between the battery and the electronic
circuit board in 2 locations.

C

5 Separate the rechargeable battery from the appliance by means

of a screwdriver.

Solution

Recharge the Sonicare for at least 24 hours.
Make sure the Sonicare is plugged into a live socket and not into a

socket controlled by a light switch.
You may need to re-attach or replace the brush head.
You may experience a slight tickling/tingling sensation when using

Sonicare for the first time. As you become accustomed to brushing
with Sonicare, this sensation will diminish.

Sonicare should produce a gentle hum during operation.Tightening
the brush head nut can eliminate excessive rattling. If the rattling does
not stop, you may need to replace the brush head.

This can be avoided by keeping the brush head properly oriented,
with the brush head placed on the gumline at an angle of 45 degrees.

The handle may need recharging.
The Easy-start feature may be active and needs to be deactivated

(see 'Special features').
The Dual Speed Control button may be set to Reduced Speed.
You may need to clean your brush head.
You may need to replace your brush head.
Clean the handle, brush head and charger thoroughly (see 'Cleaning').
Replace the brush head with a new one.
The blinking yellow LED indicates that fewer than 3 brushings remain.

Recharge the Sonicare for at least 24 hours.
This function provides additional time for brushing troublesome areas

where plaque collects and gum disease starts. It is recommended you
use the extra 30 seconds of brushing time to re-brush troublesome
areas, massage your gums, or brush your tongue (see 'Special
features').

Problem

The Sonicare toothbrush does not work

I feel a tickling sensation when I use the
Sonicare.

The brush head rattles when I use the

2) Fragen Sie vor dem Einsatz eines neuen manuellen oder elektrischen
Produkts für die Zahnpflege Ihren Zahnarzt um Rat, wenn in den
vergangenen 2 Monaten ein chirurgischer Eingriff an den Zähnen
oder am Zahnfleisch vorgenommen wurde.

3) Setzen Sie sich mit Ihrem Zahnarzt in Verbindung, wenn nach
Benutzung dieses Geräts starkes Zahnfleischbluten auftritt, oder
wenn es auch nach mehr als einwöchiger Benutzung noch zu
Blutungen kommt.

4) Haben Sie als Träger eines Herzschrittmachers oder ähnlicher
Implantate Fragen zur Verwendung des Geräts, setzen Sie sich bitte
mit Ihrem Arzt oder dem Hersteller des Schrittmachers bzw. des
Implantats in Verbindung. Sonicare wurde getestet und entspricht
den Sicherheitsstandards für elektromagnetische medizinische
Apparate.

5) Die Sonicare-Zahnbürste ist ein Gerät zur individuellen Mundpflege
und nicht für die Verwendung durch mehrere Patienten in einer
Zahnarztpraxis oder Zahnklinik geeignet.

6) Dieses Produkt dient ausschließlich dem Reinigen von Zähnen,
Zahnfleisch und Zunge. Setzen Sie es nicht für andere Zwecke ein.

Vorbereitungen

So bringen Sie den Sonicare-Bürstenkopf an:

1 Richten Sie die Vorderseite des Bürstenkopfs an der

Vorderseite des Handstücks aus. Die Schienen am Bürstenkopf
müssen in die Führungen oben am Handstück passen. Schieben
Sie den Bürstenkopf dann auf das Handstück.

2 Drehen Sie die Bürstenkopfmutter im Uhrzeigersinn fest.

Rattert der Bürstenkopf beim Gebrauch, ziehen Sie die Mutter
fester an.

Laden der Sonicare\

Sonicare wird mit leeren Akkus geliefert und sollte während der ersten
Tage mindestens 24 Stunden lang aufgeladen werden.

1 Stellen Sie das Handstück mit nach vorne zeigendem Sonicare-

Logo in das Ladegerät, um die Sonicare zu laden. Die
Unterseite des Handstücks muss richtig im Ladegerät sitzen,
damit der Kontakt gewährleistet ist.

C

◗ Wird das Handstück nicht richtig in das Ladegerät gestellt,

leuchtet zwar die grüne Ladestands-LED, aber der Akku wird nicht
geladen.

Handstücke anderer Sonicare-Modelle passen nicht in dieses Ladegerät
und werden darin nicht richtig geladen. Drücken Sie ein solches
Handstück nicht mit Gewalt in dieses Ladegerät, um Beschädigungen zu
vermeiden.
Wir empfehlen die Aufbewahrung der Sonicare im Ladegerät, damit
der Akku jederzeit voll geladen ist. Das vollständige Laden des
Sonicare-Akkus nimmt mindestens 24 Stunden in Anspruch.

Benutzung des Geräts

Nützliche Tipps

◗ Sie können Ihre bevorzugte Zahnpasta mit der Sonicare

verwenden.

◗ Der Bürstenkopf wird mit einer praktischen Kappe für Reisen

geliefert. Nehmen Sie die Kappe vom Bürstenkopf,bevor Sie die
Sonicare einschalten.

◗ Führen Sie den Bürstenkopf in den Mund,bevor Sie Ihre Sonicare

einschalten; schalten Sie das Gerät aus, bevor Sie die Zahnbürste
aus dem Mund nehmen: So vermeiden Sie Spritzer von Zahnpasta.

◗ Spülen Sie Bürstenkopf und Borsten nach jedem Gebrauch.

Tipps zu speziellen Zahnpflegeanforderungen

◗ Verfärbungen

Putzen Sie stark verfärbte Bereiche einige Sekunden länger, um die
Entfernung der Verfärbungen zu verbessern.

◗ Zahnspangen

Die Bürste sollte in einem Winkel von 45 Grad zwischen
Zahnfleischsaum und Zahnspange platziert werden. Bewegen Sie die
Borsten dann unter leichtem Druck in kleinen Kreisen so, dass die
längeren Borsten 2 Sekunden lang zwischen die Zähne gelangen.
Drehen Sie dann das Handstück, damit die Borsten die Zahnspange
und den Rest des Zahns reinigen, bevor Sie mit dem nächsten Zahn
fortfahren.Wiederholen Sie dies, bis alle Zähne gereinigt sind.

◗ Zahnersatz

Verwenden Sie die Sonicare auf Zahnersatzteilen (Implantate, Inlays,
Kronen, Brücken, Füllungen usw.) wie auf normalen Zahnflächen, um die
Plaque zu entfernen und die Gesundheit des Zahnfleisches
sicherzustellen. Bewegen Sie die Borsten über alle Flächen des
Zahnersatzes, um diesen gründlich zu reinigen.

◗ Parodontosetaschen

Möglicherweise hat Ihr Zahnarzt Parodontosetaschen diagnostiziert.
Dabei handelt es sich um tiefe Spalten zwischen Zahn und Zahnfleisch,
in denen sich Bakterien ansammeln. Ist dies der Fall, sollten Sie sich
nach dem normalen zweiminütigen Putzen noch etwas Zeit nehmen,
die betroffenen Bereiche sanft zu bürsten, um die Gesundheit des
Zahnfleisches zu verbessern. Dabei empfiehlt sich der Einsatz der
programmierbaren Quadpacer\ Timer-Funktion (siehe Abschnitt
"Programmierbarer Quadpacer-Timer").

Die richtige Zahnputztechnik

Befolgen Sie diese einfachen Schritte, und Sie werden optimale
Putzergebnisse erzielen:

1 Platzieren Sie die Borsten in einem Winkel von 45 Grad zum

Zahnfleischsaum, bevor Sie die Sonicare einschalten.

2 Halten Sie das Handstück locker in der Hand, schalten Sie das

Gerät ein, und führen Sie die Zahnbürste über die Zähne.

3 Die Sonicare arbeitet am wirksamsten, wenn Sie nur geringen

Druck ausüben und das eigentliche Putzen der Bürste
überlassen. Schrubben Sie Ihre Zähne nicht!

4 Der angewinkelte Bürstenkopf und der schmale Hals

erleichtern das Erreichen der Backenzähne sowie der
Zahnflächen im Inneren des Mundes. Halten Sie die Zahnbürste
so, dass immer möglichst viele Borsten Kontakt zu den Zähnen
haben.

5 Damit alle Zähne gleichmäßig geputzt werden, teilen Sie Ihren

Mund in 4 Abschnitte auf: Oberkiefer außen, Oberkiefer innen,
Unterkiefer außen, Unterkiefer innen. Beginnen Sie mit
Abschnitt 1 (Außenseite Oberkiefer) und putzen Sie
30 Sekunden lang, bevor Sie zu Abschnitt 2 (Oberkiefer innen)
wechseln. Putzen Sie dann die anderen beiden Abschnitte
jeweils 30 Sekunden lang, bis Sie nach 2 Minuten den
Putzzyklus beendet haben. Bei aktiviertem programmierbarem
Quadpacer\-Timer erinnert ein Tonsignal nach jeweils
30 Sekunden daran, zum nächsten Abschnitt zu wechseln.

6 Nach dem 2-minütigen Putzzyklus schaltet sich die Sonicare

automatisch aus. Sie können die Zahnbürste auch für einen
weiteren Putzzyklus wieder einschalten und sich zum Putzen
der Kauflächen noch etwas Zeit nehmen.

7 Sie können auch die Zunge putzen. Dabei schalten Sie nach

Belieben die Zahnbürste ein oder aus.

8 Unter Umständen tritt nach der ersten Benutzung einer

elektrischen Zahnbürste wie der Sonicare ein Kitzeln oder
Kribbeln auf. Sobald Sie sich an die Sonicare gewöhnt haben,
lässt diese Empfindung nach.

Besondere Merkmale

Produkteigenschaften, die das Zähneputzen erleichtern:

Easy-start\ steigert die Putzleistung langsam

◗ Alle Sonicare-Modelle werden mit aktivierter Easy-start-Funktion

geliefert, damit Sie sich leichter an das Putzen mit der Sonicare
gewöhnen.

◗ Die Putzleistung wird während der ersten 14 Putzzyklen langsam

bis zur Maximalleistung gesteigert.

◗ Die Funktion Easy-start ist aktiv, wenn Sie unmittelbar nach dem

Einschalten der Sonicare 2 Signaltöne hören. Sobald das Gerät die
optimale Putzleistung erreicht hat (nach dem 14. Putzen), hören
Sie diese Signaltöne beim Einschalten des Geräts nicht mehr.

Hinweis: Jeder der ersten 14 Putzzyklen muss mindestens eine Minute
dauern, damit der jeweilige Zyklus von der Easy-start-Funktion
berücksichtigt wird.

3 So deaktivieren Sie Easy-start:

Halten Sie den Ein-/Ausschalter für 2 Sekunden gedrückt. Sie hören
einen Signalton, sobald die Funktion Easy-start deaktiviert wurde.

4 So reaktivieren Sie Easy-start:

Halten Sie den Ein-/Ausschalter gedrückt, bis Sie zwei Signaltöne hören.
Diese Signaltöne melden die Reaktivierung der Funktion Easy-start.

Die Funktion Easy-start sollte nur in der ersten Gewöhnungsphase
genutzt werden, da sie die Effizienz der Plaque-Entfernung mit der
Sonicare reduziert.

Bei klinischen Vergleichsstudien mit der Sonicare sollte die Easy-start
Funktion deaktiviert sein.

2-Minuten-Timer Smartimer\

◗ Alle Sonicare-Modelle sind mit dem Smartimer ausgestattet, der

automatisch für die Einhaltung der von Zahnmedizinern
empfohlenen Putzdauer von 2 Minuten sorgt. Nach diesen
2 Minuten schaltet sich die Zahnbürste automatisch aus.Wollen
Sie länger putzen, drücken Sie einfach den Ein-/Ausschalter, damit
ein neuer 2-Minuten-Zyklus beginnt.

◗ Sie können den 2-Minuten-Zyklus ab- oder unterbrechen, indem

Sie den Ein-/Ausschalter drücken.Wenn Sie den Ein-/Ausschalter
nochmals drücken, wird die Zählung des Timers fortgesetzt.

Der Smartimer wird automatisch wieder auf Null gestellt, wenn Sie

- das Putzen länger als 30 Sekunden unterbrechen,

- das Handstück in das Ladegerät stellen.

30-Sekunden-Intervalltimer Quadpacer\

◗ Die Quadpacer-Funktion sorgt dafür, dass Sie alle Bereiche im

Mund gleichmäßig und gründlich putzen. Nach jeweils
30 Sekunden (also nach 30, 60 und 90 Sekunden) eines

-minütigen Putzzyklus ertönt ein Signal, und der Putzzyklus wird
kurz unterbrochen. Sie sollten das Putzen nun im nächsten
Abschnitt fortsetzen.

Programmierbarer Quadpacer-Timer (nur bestimmte

Mit dem programmierbaren Quadpacer-Timer können Sie den
Quadpacer auf eine von drei Funktionen einstellen:

◗ Sie können die werkseitige Standardeinstellung eines

zweiminütigen Putzzyklus mit aktivierten Signaltönen des
programmierbaren Quadpacers beibehalten.

◗ Sie können den Putzzyklus auf 2,5 Minuten verlängern, indem Sie

eine Putzzeit von 30 Sekunden hinzufügen.

◗ Sie können die Quadpacer-Signaltöne für den 2-Minuten-

Putzzyklus deaktivieren.

So ändern Sie die Einstellung des programmierbaren Quadpacers:

1 Stellen Sie das Handstück in ein Ladegerät, das an eine

stromführende Steckdose angeschlossen ist.

2 Drücken Sie kurz auf den Geschwindigkeitsschalter und

merken Sie sich, welche LED aufleuchtet.

LED nacheinander die verschiedenen Einstellungsmöglichkeiten

Mit dem Geschwindigkeitsschalter können Sie eine von
2 Geschwindigkeiten aktivieren: Normale Geschwindigkeit für optimale
Putzleistung und reduzierte Geschwindigkeit für eine besonders sanfte
Reinigung.

Wenn Sie die Sonicare einschalten, startet sie mit normaler
Geschwindigkeit. So können Sie die Geschwindigkeit ändern:

1 Von normaler zu reduzierter Geschwindigkeit: Drücken Sie den

Geschwindigkeitsschalter einmal während des Putzens.

2 Von reduzierter zu normaler Geschwindigkeit: Drücken Sie den

Geschwindigkeitsschalter während des Putzens erneut.

Ein zweistufiges Tonsignal meldet die Änderung der Geschwindigkeit.

Wir empfehlen die normale Putzgeschwindigkeit für optimale
Ergebnisse.

Bei klinischen Tests der Sonicare muss die Geschwindigkeitsstufe
"Normal" verwendet werden.

Akkuladestandsanzeige (nur bestimmte Gerätetypen)

◗ Ist der Ladestand der Akkus in der Sonicare gering, hören Sie nach

dem zweiminütigen Putzzyklus 3 Signaltöne.Außerdem blinkt die
Ladestand-LED 30 Sekunden lang gelb.

Eine niedrige Ladestandsanzeige bedeutet, dass die Energie für weniger
als drei 2-minütige Putzzyklen ausreicht.
Bewahren Sie die Sonicare im Ladegerät auf, um jederzeit über die
volle Akkuladung zu verfügen.

Ladestandsanzeige (mehrere LED) - (nur bestimmte
Gerätetypen)

◗ Wenn sich das Handstück im Ladegerät befindet, blinken die

grünen Ladestands-LED in ansteigender Folge, während der Akku
geladen wird. Die Anzahl der blinkenden LED kennzeichnet den
erreichten Ladestand.

Sobald der Akku vollständig geladen ist, blinken die LED nicht mehr,
sondern leuchten kontinuierlich. Etwa ein Mal pro Minute erlöschen die
LED kurz und leuchten dann wieder auf, um die Erhaltung der vollen
Akkuladung zu melden. Der Status der Ladestandsanzeige ändert sich,
sobald Sie das Handstück aus dem Ladegerät nehmen.
Wenn die gelbe LED blinkt, sind nur noch weniger als 3 Putzzyklen
möglich.

Reinigung

Hinweise zur Pflege des Geräts

4 Befestigen Sie die Mutter wieder, indem Sie die Mutter über

den Schaft des Bürstenkopfs schieben und den unteren Teil des
Bürstenkopfs in das Handstück drücken. Drehen Sie die Mutter
im Uhrzeigersinn fest, bis sie im Siegel einrastet.

5 Reinigen Sie das Handstück wöchentlich.

6 Reinigen Sie das Ladegerät regelmäßig.

Trennen Sie das Ladegerät vor dem Reinigen vom Stromnetz.

7 Überprüfen Sie gelegentlich das Netzkabel. Benutzen Sie das

Ladegrät nicht, wenn das Netzkabel beschädigt ist.

8 Überschüssiges Kabel können Sie um die Führungen unten im

Ladegerät wickeln.

TRENNEN Sie das Ladegerät vor dem Reinigen vom Stromnetz
Trocknen Sie das Ladegerät nach dem Reinigen vollständig, bevor Sie es
wieder mit dem Stromnetz verbinden.

Zum Reinigen der Sonicare empfehlen wir milde Seife,Wasser und ein
weiches Tuch.

Bürstenkopf

Damit dauerhaft optimale Resultate erzielt werden, müssen Sonicare­Bürstenköpfe spätestens nach 6 Monaten oder bereits früher
ausgetauscht werden, wenn Abnutzungserscheinungen sichtbar werden.

Verwenden Sie ausschließlich Bürstenköpfe der Serie Sonicare Elite\.

Umweltschutz

Das Gerät enthält einen Nickel-Kadmium-Akku. Der Akku muss
ordnungsgemäß entsorgt oder recycelt werden, um Umweltschäden zu
vermeiden.

Der Akku in der Sonicare kann nicht ausgetauscht, aber zum Zweck
der Entsorgung problemlos entnommen werden.Vor der Entsorgung
des Geräts sollten Sie den Akku anhand der folgenden Anleitung
entnehmen.
Dieser Vorgang ist NICHT umkehrbar.

◗ Werfen Sie den Akku auf keinen Fall in den Hausmüll, sondern

geben Sie ihn an einer offiziellen Sammelstelle ab.

Ausbauen des Akkus

Seien Sie vorsichtig, wenn Sie Werkzeuge (z. B. Schraubendreher) zum
Ausbauen des Akkus einsetzen.

1 Entladen Sie den Akku vollständig, indem Sie das Handstück aus

dem Ladegerät nehmen, die Sonicare einschalten und laufen
lassen, bis der Motor stoppt.Wiederholen Sie diesen Vorgang,
bis das Gerät nicht mehr läuft.

2 Entfernen Sie den weichen Griffgummi, indem Sie einen

Schraubendreher darunter schieben und ihn herausbrechen.

3 Lösen Sie die Mutter vom Bürstenkopf und platzieren Sie sie

auf dem Handstück. Ziehen Sie die Mutter auf dem Handstück
(A) fest, bis sich das Gehäuse löst. Ziehen Sie die Mutter dann
nach vorne (B).
