Introduction

The shaver comes with two different kinds of
NIVEA FOR MEN cartridges: Extra Fresh Shaving
Gel for a fresh sensation during and after shaving
and Moisturising Shaving Lotion for sensitive skin.
This gives you the opportunity to try them out
and discover which one suits your skin type best.

Important

Read these instructions for use carefully before
using the appliance and save them for future
reference.

◗ Only use the HQ600 powerplug and the

charging stand supplied to charge the shaver.

◗ Only the powerplug supplied guarantees

safety.

◗ The HQ600 powerplug transforms 100-240

volts to a safe low voltage of less than
24 volts.

◗ The powerplug contains a transformer.Do

not cut off the powerplug to replace it with
another plug,as this will cause a hazardous
situation.

◗ Never immerse the charging stand in water

nor rinse it under the tap when the charging
stand is plugged in.

C

◗ The shaver runs at a safe low voltage of less

than 24 volts.It is watertight and can be
cleaned under the tap.Rinse the shaver with
hot water.

Be careful with hot water.Always check if the
water isn't too hot,to prevent your hands from
burning.

◗ Do not leave the charging stand with the

shaver in it plugged into the mains
continuously.

◗ Check if the gel and lotion supplied with the

appliance contain ingredients (see back of
cartridge) to which you are allergic before
you start using the appliance.Do not use the
gel and/or lotion if you are allergic to one or
more ingredients!

◗ If the mains cord of this appliance is damaged,

it must always be replaced by Philips or a
service centre authorised by Philips in order
to avoid hazardous situations.

Charging

Charge indications

◗ As soon as you start charging the empty

shaver,the green pilot light goes on.

◗ The red pilot light blinks when the batteries

are almost empty.

◗ When the batteries are almost empty,the red

pilot light blinks a few times after the shaver
has been switched off.

Charging the appliance

Recharge, store and use the appliance at a
temperature between 5cC and 35cC.

1 Insert the small plug into the charging

stand and put the powerplug in the wall
socket.

2 Place the shaver in the charging stand.

C

3 Press until you hear a click.

The shaver automatically switches off when
placed in the charging stand.

4 When charging for the first time or after a

long period of disuse:leave the shaver to
charge continuously for 24 hours.

Charging normally takes approx.8 hour.
A fully charged shaver has a cordless shaving time

of up to approx.40 minutes.

Inserting the cartridge

Cartridges with moisturising NIVEA FOR MEN
shaving gel/lotion are available in boxes containing
five cartridges and one small plastic pump.

Do not throw the pump away when you replace
an empty cartridge.You will need it for all five
cartridges.

One Philishave NIVEA FOR MEN Cool Skin
cartridge contains enough gel/lotion for approx.
10 shaves.

Remove the shaving gel/lotion cartridge from the
appliance when you are not going to use the
shaver for more than one week.

Use only Philishave NIVEA FOR MEN Cool Skin
(HQ160 or HQ161) cartridges.

For hygienic reasons,we advise you to insert a
new pump when you start using a new set of five
cartridges.

When you have run out of shaving gel/lotion
cartridges and you do not know where to buy
them,contact the Customer Care Centre in your
country (see 'Guarantee & service').

Inserting the cartridge

1 Take one cartridge from the box.Take the

pump (supplied in the same box) out of its
bag and push it into the cartridge until it
locks into position with a click.

2 Move the release slide downwards and

open the cover of the cartridge
compartment.

3 Slide the cartridge with the pump into the

shaver.It only fits properly if the white side

of the pump is pointing upwards.

4 Close the cover (you will hear a click).
5 Press the yellow pump button a few times

until the NIVEA FOR MEN shaving

emulsion appears.The shaver is now ready

for use.

The NIVEA FOR MEN shaving gel/lotion in the
cartridges will keep for 32 months when stored at
temperatures between 0cC and +40cC.

Using the appliance

Shaving

Switching on the shaver.

1 Switch the shaver on by pressing the on/off

button once.

2 Press the yellow pump button to apply

NIVEA FOR MEN shaving gel/lotion to

your skin.

3 Move the shaving heads over your skin,

making both straight and circular

movements.

4 While shaving,press the pump button

frequently to apply more NIVEA FOR

MEN shaving gel/lotion so that the shaver

keeps gliding smoothly over your face.

Do not press the shaver too hard against your
skin while shaving.If you prefer,you can wet your
face before shaving.

◗ When you have run out of shaving emulsion,

you can also use the shaver without it on a
dry face.

The shaver will not perform optimally when used
without shaving gel/lotion.

◗ Your skin may need 2-3 weeks to get

accustomed to the Philishave system.

Switching of the shaver

1 Switch the shaver off.

2 Put the protection cap on the shaver every

time you have used it, to prevent damage.

Remove the cartridge and clean the shaver if you
are not going to use the appliance for more than
one week.Rinse the shaver after each shave.

Trimming

The shaver has a separate trimmer for grooming
sideburns and moustache.

1 Switch the shaver off.

Clean the shaver before you attach the trimmer.

2 Press the release button to open the

shaving unit and pull the shaving unit off

the shaver.

3 Tilt the trimmer slightly backwards and fit

it onto the shaver.

4 Remove the trimmer by pressing the

release button again and pulling the

trimmer off the shaver.

Cleaning and maintenance

Shaving unit

Rinse the shaving unit and the hair chamber with
hot water (60cC - 80cC) after every use.

1 Switch the shaver off.

2 Press the release button to open the

shaving unit.

3 Clean the shaving unit and the hair

chamber by rinsing them under a hot tap

for some time.

Never dry the shaving unit with a towel or tissue
as this may damage the shaving heads.

4 Rinse the outside of the shaver.

Make sure the inside of the shaving unit and the
hair chamber have been cleaned properly. Close
the shaving unit and shake off excess water.

Charging stand

1 Unplug the charging stand.
2 Clean the charging stand with a moist

cloth.

Trimmer

1 Clean the outside of the trimmer with the

brush supplied after every use.

2 Open the trimmer to clean it on the

inside.

3 Lubricate the trimmer teeth with a drop

of sewing machine oil every six months.

Replacement

Replace the shaving heads every two years for
optimal shaving results.

1 Switch the shaver off.

3 Turn the wheel anticlockwise and remove

the retaining frame.

4 Remove the shaving heads and place the

new ones in the shaving unit.

5 Put the retaining frame back onto the

shaving unit,press the wheel and turn it

clockwise.

Replace damaged or worn shaving heads with
Philishave HQ167 Cool Skin shaving heads only.

Storage

◗ After cleaning,the wet shaver can be placed in

the charging stand.

◗ The appliance and the trimmer can be stored

in the pouch or cassette supplied.Whether
you have a pouch or a cassette depends on
your type of shaver.

Environment

Disposal of batteries
The built-in rechargeable batteries contain

substances that may pollute the environment.
Remove the batteries when you discard the

shaver.Do not throw the batteries away with the
normal household waste, but hand them in at an
official collection point.You can also take the
appliance to a Philips service centre, which will
remove them for you and will dispose of them in
an environmentally safe way.

Only remove the batteries if they are completely
empty.

1 Let the shaver run until it stops,undo the

screws and open the shaver.

2 Remove the batteries.

Do not put the shaver back into the charging
stand after the batteries have been removed.

Troubleshooting

1 The shaving heads do not move smoothly

over the skin:

B

Cause:not enough shaving emulsion has been
applied.

◗ Press the pump button a few times until a

sufficient amount of NIVEA FOR MEN shaving
emulsion has been released to allow the
shaving heads to move smoothly over your
face again.

2 Reduced shaving performance:

B

Cause 1:the shaving heads are dirty.The shaver
has not been cleaned immediately after use
and/or has not been rinsed long enough and/or
the water used to rinse the shaver was not hot
enough.

◗ Clean the shaver thoroughly before you

continue shaving (see 'Cleaning').

B

Cause 2:long hairs are obstructing the shaving
heads.

◗ Remove the retaining frame.

C

◗ Clean the cutters and guards.

Do not clean more than one cutter and guard at
a time, since they are all matching sets.If you
accidentally mix up the cutters and guards, it
could take several weeks before optimal shaving
performance is restored.

◗ Remove the hairs.
◗ Put the shaving heads back into the shaving

unit.Put the retaining frame back onto the
shaving unit,press the wheel and turn it
clockwise.

Cause 3:the shaving heads are damaged or worn.

◗ Remove the retaining frame.
◗ Remove the old shaving heads from the

shaving unit and replace them with new ones.

Damaged or worn shaving heads (cutters and
guards) must only be replaced with the original
Philishave HQ167 Cool Skin shaving heads.

◗ Put the retaining frame back onto the shaving

unit,press the wheel and turn it clockwise.

3 The shaver does not work when the on/off

button is pressed:

Cause:the batteries are empty

◗ Recharge the batteries.

4 The cover of the cartridge compartment

cannot be closed

B

Cause 1:the cartridge has not been inserted
correctly.

◗ Insert the cartridge correctly. It only fits

properly into the shaver if the white side of
the pump is pointing upwards.

B

Cause 2:the cartridge has not been pushed far
enough into the shaver.

◗ Press the cartridge until it is properly seated.

5 The NIVEA FOR MEN shaving emulsion

has changed colour or has turned watery.

B

Cause:the NIVEA FOR MEN shaving emulsion
has not been stored at the right temperature.

◗ Insert a new cartridge.

6 Skin irritation occurs:

Cause 1:your skin has not yet become
accustomed to this shaving system.

◗ Allow 2-3 weeks for your skin to get

accustomed to this shaving system.

Cause 2:the shaving emulsion irritates your skin.

◗ Try the other type of shaving emulsion.
◗ Wet your face before shaving with the shaving

emulsion.

If the irritation does not disappear within 24
hours, we advise you to stop using the shaving
emulsion and to contact your doctor.

Introduction

Votre rasoir est livré avec 2 types différents de
cartouches NIVEA FOR MEN:un Gel à Raser
Extra Rafraîchissant pour une sensation de
fraîcheur pendant et après le rasage et une Lotion
à Raser Hydratante pour peau sensible. Cela vous
offre l'opportunité d'essayer et de choisir laquelle
convient le mieux à votre type de peau.

Important

Avant d'utiliser l'appareil,lisez les instructions ci­dessous et conservez ce mode d'emploi pour un
usage ultérieur.

◗ Utilisez exclusivement le chargeur et le

support de charge fournis.

◗ Le chargeur fourni garantit la sécurité.
◗ Le chargeur transforme le 100-240 V en 24 V.
◗ Le chargeur est doté d'un transformateur.

N'essayez pas de remplacer la fiche du
chargeur pour éviter tout accident.

◗ N'immergez jamais le support de charge dans

l'eau,ne le rincez pas non plus s'il est branché.

◗ Le rasoir fonctionne sous une tension de

sécurité de 24 V.Il est étanche et peut être
nettoyé à l'eau courante.Rincez-le à l'eau
chaude.

Faites attention que l'eau ne soit pas trop chaude.

◗ Ne laissez pas le support de charge avec le

rasoir branché continuellement.

◗ Avant la première utilisation,vérifiez que le

gel ou la lotion fourni(e) avec l'appareil ne
contient pas des ingrédients (voir au dos de la
cartouche) qui puissent provoquer des
allergies.N'utilisez pas le gel et/ou la lotion si
vous êtes allergique à un ou plusieurs de ces
composants!

◗ Si le cordon d'alimentation est endommagé,il

ne doit être remplacé que par Philips ou par
un Centre Service Agréé,pour éviter tout
accident.

Charge

Indications de charge

◗ Dès que vous commencez à charger le rasoir

vide,le témoin vert s'allumera.

◗ Le témoin lumineux rouge clignotera si les

accumulateurs sont presque déchargés.

◗ Si les accumulateurs sont presque déchargés,

le témoin rouge clignotera quelques secondes
lorsque vous arrêtez le rasoir.

Charger l'appareil

Chargez et maintenez l'appareil à une
température comprise entre 5cC et 35cC.

1 Enfoncez la petite fiche dans le support de

charge et insérez la fiche du chargeur dans

la prise de courant.

2 Mettez le rasoir dans le support de charge.

3 Pressez jusqu'à ce que vous entendiez un

clic.

Le rasoir s'arrête automatiquement lorsqu'il est
mis sur le support de charge.

4 Lorsque vous chargez l'appareil pour la

première fois,ou si l'appareil n'a pas été

utilisé pendant une longue période:

chargez-le pendant 24 heures sans

interruption.

Une charge normale dure 8 heures environ.
A pleine charge, le rasoir offre une autonomie de

40 minutes environ.

Insérer la cartouche

Les cartouches de gel/lotion à raser NIVEA FOR
MEN sont disponibles en paquets contenant cinq
cartouches et une pompe en plastique.

Ne jetez pas la pompe quand vous remplacez la
cartouche vide.Vous en aurez besoin pour les
cinq cartouches.

Le gel/lotion d'une cartouche Philishave NIVEA
FOR MEN Cool Skin suffit pour environ 8/10
rasages.

Retirez la cartouche de l'appareil si vous ne vous
en servez pas pendant une semaine ou plus.

Utilisez exclusivement des cartouches Philishave
NIVEA FOR MEN (HQ160 et HQ161).

Pour des raisons hygiéniques,il est conseillé de
changer la pompe à chaque nouveau paquet de
cartouches.

Si vous êtes à court de cartouches et que vous
ne savez pas où les acheter, contactez le Service
Consommateurs de votre pays (voir "Garantie et
service").

Insérer la cartouche

1 Prenez une cartouche du paquet.Insérez la

pompe fournie avec le paquet dans la

cartouche jusqu'à ce que vous entendiez

un clic.

2 Poussez le bouton de déverrouillage vers

bas et ouvrez le couvercle du

compartiment à cartouche.

C

3 Glissez la cartouche avec la pompe dans le

rasoir.Elle est fixée correctement si la

partie blanche de la pompe est dirigée vers

le haut.

4 Fermez le couvercle (vous entendrez un

clic).

5 Appuyez plusieurs fois sur le bouton jaune

jusqu'à ce que l'émulsion à raser

apparaisse.Le rasoir est prêt à l'emploi.

des cartouches: 32 mois si conservé(e) à une
température comprise entre 0cC et +40cC.

Utilisation de l'appareil

Rasage

Mettre l'appareil en marche

1 Mettez le rasoir en marche en appuyant

sur le bouton marche/arrêt une fois.

2 Appuyez sur le bouton jaune de la pompe

pour appliquer le gel/lotion NIVEA FOR

MEN.

3 Déplacez le rasoir sur la peau en

effectuant des mouvements rectilignes et

circulaires.

4 Pendant le rasage,appuyez souvent sur le

bouton de la pompe pour appliquer le

gel/lotion NIVEA FOR MEN et permettre

ainsi au rasoir de glisser sur votre peau.

N'appliquez pas une pression trop forte sur le
rasoir pendant le rasage.Si vous le souhaitez,vous
pouvez humidifier légèrement votre visage avant
de vous raser.

◗ Quand vous êtes à court d'émulsion de

rasage,vous pouvez utiliser le rasoir à sec.

Toutefois le rasoir ne fonctionnera pas de
manière optimale sans gel/lotion à raser.

◗ Votre peau peut avoir besoin de 2-3~semaines

pour s'habituer au système de coupe
Philishave.

Arrêter le rasoir

1 Arrêtez le rasoir.

2 Remettez le capot protecteur sur le rasoir

après chaque utilisation pour éviter tout

dommage.

Rincez le rasoir et les têtes après chaque
utilisation.Retirez la cartouche et nettoyez le
rasoir si vous ne vous en servez pas pendant une
semaine ou plus.

Tondeuse

Le rasoir est possède une tondeuse séparée pour
tailler les favoris et la moustache.

1 Arrêtez le rasoir.

Nettoyez le rasoir avant d'attacher la tondeuse.

2 Appuyez sur le bouton de déblocage et

ôtez l'unité de rasage.

3 Inclinez la tondeuse légèrement en arrière

et attachez-la sur l'appareil.

4 Retirez la tondeuse en appuyant sur le

bouton de déverrouillage.

Nettoyage et entretien

Unité de rasage

Rincez l'unité de rasage ouverte sous l'eau
chaude (60c-80cC) après chaque utilisation.

1 Arrêtez le rasoir.

2 Appuyez sur le bouton de blocage et ôtez

l'unité de rasage de l'appareil.

3 Rincez l'unité de rasage sous l'eau la plus

chaude possible.

Ne séchez jamais l'unité de rasage à l'aide d'une
serviette, car cela pourrait endommager les têtes
de rasage.

4 Rincez l'extérieur du rasoir.

Nettoyez bien l'intérieur de l'unité de rasage et le
compartiment à poils.Fermez l'unité de rasage et
secouez-la pour éliminer l'eau.

Support de charge

1 Débranchez le support de charge.
2 Nettoyez-le à l'aide d'un chiffon humide.

Tondeuse

1 Nettoyez l'extérieur de la tondeuse avec la

brosse fournie.

2 Ouvrez la tondeuse pour la nettoyer à

l'intérieur.

C

3 Tous les six mois, lubrifiez la tondeuse à

l'aide d'une gouttelette d'huile pour

machine à coudre.

Remplacement

Pour un résultat de rasage optimal,remplacez les
têtes de rasage tous les deux ans.

1 Arrêtez le rasoir.

2 Appuyez sur le bouton de blocage et ôtez

l'unité de rasage de l'appareil.

3 Faites tourner la molette dans le sens

contraire des aiguilles d'une montre et

enlevez le flasque de retenue.

4 Enlevez les têtes usagées et placez les

nouvelles têtes dans l'unité de rasage.

5 Remettez la plaque de fermeture,en

pressant la molette et en la tournant dans

le sens des aiguilles d'une montre.

Remplacez les têtes endommagées ou usagées
exclusivement par des têtes Philishave HQ167
Cool Skin.

Rangement

◗ Après le nettoyage,vous pouvez placer le

rasoir humide dans le support de charge.

◗ L'appareil et la tondeuse peuvent être rangés

dans l'étui ou le coffret fournis (suivant
modèle du rasoir).

Environnement

Elimination des accumulateurs
Les accumulateurs rechargeables incorporés

contiennent des substances qui peuvent polluer
l'environnement.

Enlevez les accumulateurs lorsque vous mettez
l'appareil au rebut.Ne les jetez pas avec les
ordures ménagères,mais déposez-les à un endroit
prévu à cet effet par les autorités publiques.Vous
pouvez également les déposer dans un Centre
Service Agréé Philips.Ils y seront traités dans le
respect de l'environnement.

Eliminez les piles uniquement lorsqu'elles sont
entièrement vides.

1 Laissez l'appareil fonctionner jusqu'à l'arrêt

complet du moteur,ôtez les vis et ouvrez

l'appareil.

2 Retirez les accumulateurs.

Ne replacez pas le rasoir sur le support de charge
après avoir retiré les accumulateurs.

Dépannage

1 Les têtes de rasage ont du mal à se

déplacer sur la peau:

Cause:vous n'appliquez pas assez d'émulsion.

◗ Appuyez sur le bouton de la pompe jusqu'à ce

qu'une quantité suffisante d'émulsion NIVEA
FOR MEN ait été appliquée pour permettre
aux têtes de rasage de se déplacer aisément.

2 Les résultats de rasage se dégradent:

Cause 1:Les têtes de rasage sont sales.L'appareil
n'a pas été rincé immédiatement après le rasage
et/ou il n'a pas été suffisamment rincé, ou l'eau
n'était pas suffisamment chaude.

◗ Nettoyez l'appareil à fond (voir "Nettoyage").

Cause 2:Des poils longs sont emmêlés dans les
têtes de rasage.

◗ Enlevez la plaque de fermeture.

C

◗ Nettoyez les couteaux et les grilles.

Ne nettoyez pas plus d'un couteau et une grille à
la fois,car ceux-ci sont affûtés par paires.Si vous
intervertissez par mégarde les couteaux et les
grilles, plusieurs semaines peuvent être
nécessaires avant que l'appareil rase à nouveau de
manière optimale.

◗ Enlevez les cheveux.
◗ Remontez les têtes de rasage sur l'unité de

rasage.Fixez la plaque de fermeture sur l'unité
en pressant la molette et en la tournant dans
le sens des aiguilles d'une montre.

Cause 3:les têtes de rasage sont abîmées ou
usées.

◗ Enlevez la plaque de fermeture.
◗ Enlevez les têtes de rasage de l'unité de rasage

et remplacez-les par des têtes de rasage
neuves.

Les têtes de rasage abîmées ou usagées
(couteaux et grilles) doivent être remplacées
uniquement par des têtes Philishave HQ167 Cool
Skin d'origine.
