Introduction

Congratulations on purchasing this Philips kettle! In this user manual you find all the information you need to enjoy your kettle optimally for a long time.

Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it for future reference.

Danger

-Do not immerse the appliance or the base in water or any other liquid.

Warning

-Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance.

-Do not use the appliance if the plug, the mains cord, the base or the appliance itself is damaged.

-If the mains cord is damaged, you must have it replaced by Philips, a service centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

-This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

-Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

-Keep the mains cord out of the reach of children. Do not let the mains cord hang over the edge of the table or worktop on which the appliance stands. Excess cord can be stored in or around the base of the appliance.

-Hot water can cause serious burns. Be careful when the kettle contains hot water.

-Never fill the kettle beyond the maximum level indication. If the kettle has been overfilled, boiling water may be ejected from the spout and cause scalding.

-Do not touch the body of the kettle during and some time after use, as it gets very hot.Always lift the kettle by its handle.

-Do not open the lid while the water is heating up or boiling. Be careful when you open the lid immediately after the water has boiled: the steam coming out of the kettle is very hot.

-Only use the kettle in combination with its original base.

-This rapid-boil kettle can draw up to 13 amps from the power supply in your home. Make sure that the electrical system in your home and the circuit to which the kettle is connected can cope with this level of power consumption. Do not let too many other appliances draw power from the same circuit while the kettle is being used.

Caution

-In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cut-out, this appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device, such as a timer, or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by the utility.

-Always place the base and the kettle on a dry, flat and stable surface.

-The kettle is only intended for boiling water. Do not use it to heat up soup or other liquids or jarred, bottled or tinned food.

-Never fill the kettle below the minimum level to prevent the kettle from boiling dry.

-Depending on the hardness of the water in your area, small spots may appear on the heating element of your kettle when you use it.This phenomenon is the result of scale build-up on the heating element and on the inside of the kettle over time.The harder the water, the faster scale builds up. Scale can occur in different colours.Although scale is harmless, too much scale can influence the performance of your kettle. Descale your kettle regularly by following the instructions given in the chapter‘Descaling’.

-Some condensation may appear on the base of the kettle.This is perfectly normal and does not mean that the kettle has any defects.

Boil-dry protection

This kettle is equipped with boil-dry protection.This device automatically switches off the kettle if it is accidentally switched on when there is no water or not enough water in it.The on/off switch stays in‘on’ position and the light inside the kettle (HD4668/HD4667) or the power-on light (HD4666/HD4665) stays on. Switch off the kettle and let it cool down for 10 minutes.Then lift the kettle from its base to reset the boil-dry protection. The kettle is now ready for use again.

Electromagnetic fields (EMF)

This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic fields (EMF). If handled properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on scientific evidence available today.

Before first use

1Remove stickers, if any, from the base or the kettle.

2Place the base on a dry,stable and flat surface.

3To adjust the length of the cord,wind part of it round the reel in the base.Pass the cord through one of the slots in the base (Fig.2).

4Rinse the kettle with water.

5Fill the kettle with water up to the maximum level and let the water boil once (see‘Using the appliance’).

6Pour out the hot water and rinse the kettle once more.

Using the appliance

1Fill the kettle with water either through the spout or through the open lid. (Fig.3)

-HD4668/HD4667:To open the lid, press the lid release button (Fig. 4).

-Close the lid before you switch on the kettle. Make sure that the lid is properly closed to prevent the kettle from boiling dry.

2Place the kettle on its base,put the plug in the wall socket and set the on/off switch to‘I’. (Fig.5)

,The kettle starts heating up.

,The light inside the kettle (HD4668/HD4667) or the power-on light (HD4666/HD4665) goes on.

,The kettle switches off automatically (‘click’) when the water boils.

,The light inside the kettle (HD4668/HD4667) or the power-on light (HD4666/HD4665) goes off automatically when the kettle switches off.

,You can interrupt the boiling process by setting the on/off switch to‘O’.

Cleaning and descaling

Always unplug the appliance before you clean it.

Never use scouring pads,abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as petrol or acetone to clean the appliance.

Never immerse the kettle or its base in water.

Cleaning the kettle

1Clean the outside of the kettle with a soft,damp cloth moistened with warm water and some mild cleaning agent.

Cleaning the filter

Note: Scale is not harmful to your health but it may give your drink a powdery taste.The triple-action filter (HD4668/ HD4667) or scale filter (HD4666/HD4665) prevents scale particles from ending up in your drink.Clean the filter regularly.

Cleaning the triple-action filter (HD4668/ HD4667 only)

The triple-action filter has a mesh that attracts scale from the water.

1 Lift the filter out of the kettle (Fig.6).

2Slide the basket off the filter (Fig.7).

3Take the stainless steel mesh out of the basket. (Fig.8)

4To clean the mesh,squeeze and rotate it under a running tap.

5Gently clean the filter with a soft nylon brush.

Note:You can also leave the filter in the kettle when you descale the whole appliance (see section‘Descaling the kettle’in this chapter).

Note:You can also take the filter out of the kettle and clean it in the dishwasher.

6Reassemble the filter and slide it back into the kettle (‘click’).

Cleaning the scale filter (HD4666/HD4665 only)

There are three ways to clean the kettle:

1Take the filter out of the kettle and gently brush it

with a soft nylon brush under a running tap;

2Leave the filter in the kettle when you descale the whole appliance (see section‘Descaling the kettle’ in this chapter).

3Take the filter out of the kettle and clean it in the dishwasher.

Descaling the kettle

Regular descaling prolongs the life of the kettle.

In case of normal use (up to 5 times a day), the following descaling frequency is recommended:

-Once every 3 months if you use soft water (up to 18dH).

-Once every month if you use hard water (more than 18dH).

1Fill the kettle with water up to three-quarters of the maximum level and bring the water to the boil.

2After the kettle has switched off,add white vinegar (8% acetic acid) to the maximum level.

3Leave the solution in the kettle overnight.

4Empty the kettle and rinse the inside thoroughly.

5Fill the kettle with fresh water and boil the water.

6Empty the kettle and rinse it with fresh water again.

7Repeat the procedure if there is still some scale in the kettle.

Note:You can also use an appropriate descaler. In that case, follow the instructions on the package of the descaler.

Storage

-You can store the mains cord by winding it round the reel in the base of the appliance.

Replacement

If the kettle,the base or the mains cord of the appliance is damaged,take the base or the kettle to a service centre authorised by Philips for repair or replacement of the cord to avoid a hazard.

You can purchase a new filter at your Philips dealer or at a Philips service centre.The table below indicates which filter type is suitable for your electric kettle.

Environment

- Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment (Fig. 9).

Tähelepanu

-Ärge avage vee soojenemise või keetmise ajal kannu kaant. Olge ettevaatlik, kui avate kaane kohe pärast vee keema minemist: kannust väljuv aur on väga tuline.

-Kasutage elektrikannu ainult koos originaalalusega.

-See kiirkeedukann kasutab kuni 13-amprilist voolu. Veenduge, et teie kodus olev elektrisüsteem ja vooluvõrk, millesse kann lülitatud on, tuleb toime sellise voolutarbimisega. Ärge pange samaaegselt vooluringi, kuhu kann on lülitatud, mitut teist seadet.

Ettevaatust

-Sõltuvalt vee karedusest teie elukohas, võivad kasutamisel ilmuda elektrikannu soojuselemendile väikesed täpid. See tuleb kannu sisemusse ja soojuselemendile aja jooksul kogunevast katlakivist. Mida karedam on vesi, seda kiiremini katlakivi koguneb. Katlakivi on erinevat värvi. Ehkki katlakivi on kahjutu, võib liigne katlakivi kogunemine mõjutada kannu jõudlust. Eemaldage katlakivi kannust korrapäraselt, järgides ptk „Katlakivi eemaldamine” toodud juhised.

-Kannu alusele võib tekkida kondensatsioon. See on täiesti normaalne nähtus ja ei tähenda, et veekannul oleksid mingid defektid.

Kuivaltkeemise kaitse

Elektrikann on varustatud kuivakskeemise kaitsega. See seade lülitab veekeetja automaatselt välja, kui kann lülitatakse juhuslikult sisse siis, kui selles pole piisavalt palju vett. Sisse/välja-lüliti jääb asendisse „On” (sisse) ja kannu sees olev märgutuli (HD4668/HD4667) või „Toide sees“ märgutuli (HD4666/HD4665) jääb põlema. Lülitage kann välja ja laske kümme minutit jahtuda. Seejärel tõstke kann aluselt maha, et lähtestada kuivaltkeemise kaitse. Elektrikann on nüüd jälle kasutamisvalmis.

Elektromagnetilised väljad (EMF)

See Philipsi seade vastab kõikidele elektromagnetilisi välju (EMF) käsitlevatele standarditele. Kui seadet käsitsetakse õigesti ja käesolevale kasutusjuhendile vastavalt, on seadet tänapäeval kasutatavate teaduslike teooriate järgi ohutu kasutada.

Enne esmakasutust

1Eemaldage aluselt või kannult kõik kleebised.

2Paigaldage alus kuivale,kindlale,ja siledale pinnale.

3Reguleerige juhtme pikkust ja kerige liigne juhtmeosa ümber aluse.Pange juhe läbi ühe alusel olevatest piludest (Jn 2).

4Loputage kannu veega.

5Täitke kann maksimaalse tasemeni veega ja laske korraks keema minna (vt ptk „Seadme kasutamine”).

6Valage tuline vesi välja ja loputage kannu veelkord.

Seadme kasutamine

1Valage vesi kannu kas läbi tila või avatud kaane. (Jn 3)

-HD4668/HD4667: kaane avamiseks vajutage vabastusnupule (Jn 4).

-Enne kannu sisse lülitamist sulgege kaas.

Et vältida kannu kuivakskeemist, kontrollige, kas kaas on hoolikalt suletud.

2Pange kann alusele,sisestage pistik seina pistikupessa ja seadke sisse/välja-lüliti asendisse „I“. (Jn 5)

,Kann hakkab vett soojendama.

,Kannu sees olev märgutuli (HD4668/HD4667) või „Toide sees“ märgutuli (HD4666/HD4665) süttib põlema.

,Seade lülitub automaatselt välja (klõpsuga),kui vesi keeb.

,Kannu sees olev märgutuli (HD4668/HD4667) või „Toide sees“ märgutuli (HD4666/HD4665) kustub automaatselt,kui kann välja lülitub.

,Võite vee keemise katkestada sisse/välja-lülitit asendisse „O“ vajutades.

Puhastamine ja katlakivi eemaldamine võtke seade alati enne puhastamist vooluvõrgust välja.

ärge kunagi kasutage seadme puhastamiseks küürimiskäsnu,abrasiivseid puhastusvahendeid ega ka agressiivseid vedelikke nagu bensiini või atsetooni.

ärge kunagi kastke kannu ega selle alust vette.

Veekeetja puhastamine

1Veekeetja välispinda puhastage pehme lapiga, mida on niisutatud soojas vees ja pehmes pesemisvahendis.

Filtri puhastamine

Märkus: katlakivi ei ole tervisele ohtlik, kuid see võib anda joogile pulbrise kõrvalmaitse.Kolmetoimeline filter

(HD4668/HD4667) või katlakivifilter (HD4666/HD4665) väldivad katlakivi osakeste sattumist jooki.Puhastage filtrit korrapäraselt.

Kolmetoimelise filtri puhastamine (ainult HD4668/HD4667)

Kolmetoimelisel filtril on sõel, mis tõmbab külge vees olevat katlakivi.

1Tõstke filter kannust välja (Jn 6).

2Lükake filtrikorv filtrist välja (Jn 7).

3Võtke roostevabast terasest filtrisõel korvist välja. (Jn 8)

4Filtrisõela puhastamiseks pigistage ja pöörake seda jooksva vee all.

5Puhastage filtrit õrnalt pehme nailonharjaga.

Märkus:kui eemaldate katlakivi kogu keetjast,võite filtri ka seadmesse jätta (vt selle ptk lõiku „Veekeetjast katlakivi eemaldamine”).

Märkus:samuti võite filtri keetjast välja võtta ja nõudepesumasinas puhtaks pesta.

6Pange filter kokku ja lükake uuesti kannu tagasi (klõpsuga).

Katlakivi filtri puhastamine (ainult HD4666/ HD4665)

Kannu puhastamiseks on kolm moodust:

1võtke filter kannust välja ja harjake seda õrnalt pehme nailonharjaga kraani all;

2katlakivi eemaldamise ajal tervest seadmest jätke filter keetjasse (vt selle ptk lõiku „Veekeetja katlakivi kannust”).

3Võtke filter keetjast välja ja peske seda nõudepesumasinas.

Veekeetjast katlakivi eemaldamine

Korrapärane katlakivi eemaldamine pikendab kannu tööiga.

Tavalise kasutamise korral (kuni 5 korda päevas) soovitatakse katlakivi järgmise sagedusega eemaldada:

-kasutades pehmet vett (kuni 18 dH), kord kolme kuu tagant;

-kasutades karedat vett (üle 18 dH), iga kuu.

1Täitke kann veega kuni 3/4 maksimaalsest tasemest ja laske vesi keema minna.

2Kui kann on välja lülitatud,lisage kannu maksimaalse tasemeni äädikat (8% äädikhapet).

3Jätke äädikalahus ööseks kannu.

4Kallake kann tühjaks ja loputage sisemust korralikult.

5Täitke kann värske veega ja ajage vesi keema.

6Kallake kann tühjaks ja loputage kannu sisemust veel kord värske veega.

7Kui kannu on jäänud katlakivi jäänuseid,siis korrake toimingut.

Märkus: võib kasutada ka vastavat katlakivieemaldusvahendit. Järgige katlakivieemaldaja pakendil olevat kasutusjuhendit.

Hoidmine

-Hoidke toitejuhet seadme põhjas oleva rulli ümber keeratult.

Asendamine

kui keetja,alus või toitejuhe on kahjustatud,viige ohtlike olukordade vältimiseks alus või kann parandamiseks või toitejuhtme vahetamiseks Philipsi volitatud hoolduskeskusse.

Uue filtri saate osta Philipsi edasimüüja käest või Philipsi hoolduskeskusest.Alltoodud tabelis on näidatud, millised filtrid keetjale sobivad.

Keskkonnakaitse

- Tööea lõppedes ei tohi seadet tavalise olmeprügi hulka visata. Seade tuleb ümbertöötlemiseks ametlikku kogumispunkti viia. See on vajalik keskkonna säästmiseks (Jn 9).
