Introduction

We all know the fuss with traditional irons: choosing the right temperature for your jeans and delicate fabrics, waiting for the iron to warm up and cool down. Many of us have ruined clothes with an iron that was too hot for the job.Those disasters are a thing of the past with the new Philips PerfectCare. The principle of ironing is to transmit heat to the garments to remove the creases. In the past, it was done with a very hot soleplate.Then manufacturers added some steam to the soleplate to speed up the heat transfer to the garments, making ironing much quicker.

Our researches have shown that a high amount of steam is actually the best way to remove the toughest creases quickly.The effect of the soleplate is minimal.The soleplate just needs to be above steam temperature to remove any moisture.This is the optimal temperature. At this temperature, not a single ironable garment can be damaged and ironing is extremely effective. The challenge was to deliver a high amount of steam at this optimal temperature. In the past this would have led to water spitting, leaking

and staining.

To generate the high-pressure steam that does the work with a soleplate at this optimal temperature, we developed a unique cyclonic chamber.The steam generated penetrates deep into the fabric for fast ironing with no risk of water leaking.There are no complicated dials and you do not have to wait for the iron to warm up and cool down. Nor is there any risk of scorching your favourite clothes. It is faster, no matter who does the ironing. Important

Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it for future reference.

Danger

-- Never immerse the iron or the steam generator in water.

Warning

-- Check if the voltage indicated on the type plate corresponds to the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance.

-- Do not use the appliance if the plug, the mains cord, the supply hose or the appliance itself shows visible damage, or if the appliance has been dropped or leaks.

-- If the mains cord or the supply hose is damaged, you must have it replaced by Philips, a service centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

-- Never leave the appliance unattended when it is connected to the mains.

-- This appliance can be used by children aged 8 or above and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given instructions in safe use of the appliance or supervision to establish safe use and if they have been made aware of the hazards involved.

-- Do not allow children to play with the appliance.

-- Keep the iron and its mains cord out of the reach of children aged 8 or under when the appliance is switched on or cooling down.

-- Children are only allowed to clean the appliance and perform the CalcClean procedure under supervision.

-- Do not let the mains cord and supply hose come into contact with the hot soleplate of the iron.

-- If steam or hot water droplets escape from under the EASY DECALC knob when the appliance heats up, switch off the appliance and tighten the EASY DE-CALC knob. If steam continues to escape when the appliance heats up, switch off the appliance and contact a service centre authorised by Philips.

-- Do not remove the EASY DE-CALC knob from the steam generator when the steam generator is still hot or under pressure.

-- Do not use any other cap on the steam generator than the EASY DECALC knob that has been supplied with the appliance.

Caution

-- Only connect the appliance to an earthed wall socket.

-- Always place and use the iron and the steam generator on a stable, level and horizontal surface.

-- Check the mains cord and the supply hose regularly for possible damage. -- Fully unwind the mains cord before you plug it in the wall socket.

-- The iron platform and the soleplate of the iron can become extremely hot and may cause burns if touched. If you want to move the steam generator, do not touch the iron platform.

-- When you have finished ironing, when you clean the appliance, when you fill or empty the steam generator and also when you leave the iron even for a short while: put the iron back on the iron platform, switch off the appliance and remove the mains plug from the wall socket.

-- Descale the steam generator regularly according to the instructions in chapter ‘Cleaning and maintenance’.

Electromagnetic fields (EMF)

This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic fields (EMF). If handled properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on scientific evidence available today.

Preparing for use

Filling the detachable water tank

Do not put hot water, perfume, vinegar, starch, descaling agents, ironing aids or other chemicals in the water tank.

Note: Do not tilt or shake the steam generator when the water tank is full, otherwise water may spill out of the filling hole.

You can detach the water tank and fill it at any time during use. 

Fill the water tank before first use and as soon as the‘water tank empty’ light flashes.

1 Remove the detachable water tank from the steam generator.

2 Fill the water tank with tap water up to the MAX indication.

Note: If the tap water in your area is very hard, we advise you to mix it with an equal amount of distilled water.

3 Slide the water tank back into the steam generator (‘click’).

Note: If the water tank is not properly placed, the iron does not produce any steam.

Water tank refill light

When the water tank is almost empty, the ‘water tank empty’ light goes on and steam ironing is no longer possible.

1Remove the water tank and fill it.

2Put the water tank back into the steam generator. ,, The iron is ready for steam ironing again.

Using the appliance

OptimalTemp technology

Do not iron non-ironable fabrics.

This steam generator is supplied with Optimal Temp technology, which enables you to iron all types of ironable fabrics without adjusting the iron temperature or steam setting.

1Fabrics with these symbols are ironable, for example linen, cotton, polyester, silk, wool, viscose, rayon.

2Fabrics with this symbol are not ironable.These fabrics include synthetic fabrics such as Spandex or elastane, Spandex-mixed fabrics and polyolefins (e.g.polypropylene),but also prints on garments.

Steam ironing

1Place the steam generator on a stable and level surface, e.g. on the hard part of the ironing board or on a table.

2Make sure that there is enough water in the water tank (see section ‘Filling the detachable water tank’).

3Put the mains plug in an earthed wall socket and press the on/off button to switch on the steam generator.

,, The‘iron ready’ light flashes to indicate that the steam generator is heating up.

,, When the steam generator is ready for use, the ‘iron ready’ light lights up continuously.

4 Specific types only:Press the carry lock release button to unlock the iron from the iron platform.

5 Press and hold the steam trigger to start steam ironing.

Steam boost function

You can use the steam boost function to remove stubborn creases.

1 Press the steam boost button. Never direct steam at people.

Note: Some water droplets may come out of the soleplate when you use the steam boost function for the first time.This stops after you have used the steam boost function for some time. 

Vertical steam ironing

Hot steam is emitted from the iron. Never attempt to remove creases from a garment that is worn. Do not apply steam near your or someone else’s hand.

1 Hang the garment on a clothes hanger and pull the garment tight with one hand.

2 Hold the iron in vertical position with the other hand and press the steam trigger to steam the garment.

3 Touch the garment lightly with the soleplate of the iron to remove creases.

4 Use the steam boost button together with the steam trigger to successfully remove stubborn creases.

Auto-shut-off function

The steam generator automatically switches off when it has not been used for a while (approx.10 minutes) and the auto-shut-off light in the on/ off button starts to flash.To activate the steam generator again, press any button on the steam generator.The steam generator starts to heat up again.

Cleaning and maintenance

Descaling the steam generator with the EASY DE-CALC knob

To prevent scale build-up inside the steam generator and to ensure longlasting steaming performance, this steam generator has a DE-CALC light on the control panel.This light flashes after about a month or 10 ironing sessions.When this light flashes, perform the descaling procedure with the EASY DE-CALC knob by following the steps below.

Never remove the EASY DE-CALC knob when the steam generator is hot.

1Press the on/off button to switch off the steam generator and remove the plug from the wall socket.

2Let the steam generator cool down for 2 hours.

3Place the steam generator on a stable table top, with the EASY DECALC knob over the edge of the table top.

Tip:You can also take the steam generator to a sink and place it so that the EASY DE-CALC knob is pointing towards the sink.

4Hold a cup of at least 350cc under the EASY DE-CALC knob to collect the water that flows out.

5Turn the EASY DE-CALC knob anti-clockwise to remove it and let the water with scale particles flow into the cup.

Note:Water starts to flow out of the steam generator as soon as you turn the EASY DE-CALC knob to remove it.

Note:This steam generator is specially designed to remove scale together with the water easily and effectively.It is not necessary to shake or tilt the steam generator.

6When no more water comes out of the steam generator, reinsert the EASY DE-SCALE knob and turn it clockwise to fasten it. 

7Put the mains plug in an earthed wall socket and press the DE-CALC reset button to reset the EASY DE-CALC function.The DE-CALC light goes out.

Cleaning the soleplate

Clean the soleplate regularly to remove stains from the soleplate.

1Put the mains plug in an earthed wall socket and press the on/off button to switch on the steam generator and let it heat up.

2After approx. 2 minutes, press the on/off button again to switch off the steam generator and remove the plug from the wall socket.

3Place a piece of moist cotton cloth on the ironing board.

4Iron over the cotton cloth repeatedly to remove stains from the soleplate.

Storage

1Press the on/off button to switch off the steam generator and remove the plug from the wall socket.

2Remove the detachable water tank and empty it.

3 Place the iron on the iron platform.

4Specific types only:Push the carry lock over the tip of the soleplate to lock the iron onto the iron platform.

5 Fold the supply hose and mains cord to store them in their respective storage compartments.

6 Specific types only:You can now easily carry the whole appliance by the handle of the iron with one hand.

Do not carry the appliance by holding the water tank release lever.

Environment

-- Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment.

Persiapan penggunaan

Mengisi tangki air yang dapat dilepas

Jangan memasukkan air panas, parfum, cuka, kanji, zat pembersih kerak, bahan pelembut penyetrikaan atau bahan kimia lainnya ke dalam tangki air.

Catatan:Jangan memiringkan atau mengguncang pembuat uap saat tangki air penuh,karena air bisa tumpah dari lubang pengisian.

Anda dapat melepas tangki air dan mengisinya setiap saat sewaktu menggunakannya. 

Isilah tangki air sebelum Anda menggunakan pertama kali dan begitu lampu ‘tangki air kosong’ berkedip.

1Keluarkan tangki air lepas-pasang dari pembuat uap.

2Isi tangki air dengan air keran yang dingin sampai batas MAX.

Catatan:Jika air keran di daerah Anda sangat sadah,kami sarankan Anda untuk mencampurnya dengan air suling dalam jumlah yang sama atau gunakan air suling saja.

3 Masukkan kembali tangki air ke dalam pembuat uap (‘klik’).

Catatan:Jika salah memasang tangki air,setrika tidak akan mengeluarkan uap.

Lampu isi ulang tangki air

Jika tangki air sudah hampir kosong, lampu ‘tangki air kosong’ akan menyala dan Anda tidak dapat lagi menyetrika dengan uap.

1Keluarkan tangki air dan isilah.

2Masukkan kembali tangki air ke dalam pembuat uap.

Menggunakan alat

Teknologi OptimalTemp

Jangan menyetrika kain yang tidak dapat disetrika.

Pembuat uap ini dilengkapi dengan Teknologi Optimal Temp yang memungkinkan Anda untuk menyetrika semua jenis kain yang dapat disetrika tanpa perlu mengatur suhu setrika atau melakukan penyetelan uap.

1Kain dengan simbol ini dapat disetrika, misalnya linen, katun, poliester, sutera, wol, viskose, rayon.

2Kain dengan simbol ini tidak dapat disetrika. Kain ini antara lain adalah bahan sintetis, misalnya spandeks atau elastan, bahan campuran spandeks dan poliolefin (mis.polipropilen),juga cetakan di kain.

Menyetrika dengan uap

Tempatkan pembuat uap pada permukaan yang stabil dan rata, misalnya pada bagian meja setrika yang keras atau di atas meja.

Pastikan bahwa air dalam tangki air cukup (lihat bagian ‘Mengisi tangki air lepas-pasang’).

Pasang steker listrik ke stopkontak dinding yang memiliki arde dan tekan tombol on/off untuk menghidupkan pembuat uap.

Lampu ‘setrika siap’ berkedip untuk menandakan bahwa pembuat uap sedang memanas.

Jika pembuat uap telah siap digunakan, lampu ‘setrika siap’ akan terus menyala.

Fungsi semburan uap

Uap panas dikeluarkan dari setrika. Jangan sekali-kali menghilangkan kusut dari pakaian yang sudah usang. Jangan mengarahkan uap di dekat tangan Anda atau orang lain.

1Gantung pakaian di gantungan baju dan tarik pakaian dengan erat dengan satu tangan.

2Pegang setrika dalam posisi tegak dengan tangan yang lain dan tekan pemicu uap untuk menguapkan pakaian.

3Sentuhkan pakaian secara ringan dengan tapak setrika untuk menghilangkan kusut.

4Gunakan fungsi semburan uap bersama dengan pemicu uap untuk menghilangkan kusut yang membandel.

Fungsi pemutusan otomatis

Pembuat uap akan dimatikan secara otomatis jika tidak digunakan beberapa lama (sekitar 10 menit) dan lampu pemutusan otomatis pada tombol on/off mulai berkedip. Untuk menghidupkan kembali pembuat uap, tekanlah sembarang tombol pada pembuat uap. Pembuat uap mulai panas kembali.

Membersihkan dan pemeliharaan

Menghilangkan kerak pada pembuat uap dengan kenop EASY

DE-CALC

Untuk mencegah pembentukan kerak di bagian dalam pembuat uap dan memastikan bahwa kinerja penguapan dapat berlangsung lama, pada pembuat uap ini terdapat lampu DE-CALC di panel kontrol. Lampu ini akan berkedip setelah sekitar sebulan atau 10 kali sesi penyetrikaan. 1Tekan tombol on/off untuk mematikan pembuat uap dan lepas steker dari stopkontak dinding.

2Biarkan pembuat uap menjadi dingin selama 2 jam.

3Letakkan pembuat uap di bagian atas meja yang stabil, dengan kenop

EASY DE-CALC berada di tepi atas meja.

Tip:Anda dapat pula meletakkan pembuat uap ke bak cuci dan memposisikannya sedemikian rupa sehingga kenop EASY DE-CALC mengarah ke bak cuci.

4Pegang wadah berukuran sekurangnya 350cc di bawah kenop EASY DE-CALC untuk menampung air yang keluar.

5Putar kenop EASY DE-CALC berlawanan arah jarum jam untuk melepasnya dan biarkan air dengan partikel kerak mengalir masuk ke wadah.

Catatan:Air mulai mengalir keluar dari pembuat uap begitu Anda memutar kenop EASY DE-CALC untuk melepasnya.

Catatan:Pembuat uap ini dirancang khusus untuk dengan mudah dan efektif menghilangkan kerak bersama dengan air.Pembuat uap tidak perlu digoyangkan atau dimiringkan.

6Jika tidak ada lagi air yang keluar dari pembuat uap, pasang kembali kenop EASY DE-SCALE dan putar searah jarum jam untuk

7 Pasang steker listrik ke stopkontak dinding yang memiliki arde dan tekan tombol reset DE-CALC untuk mereset fungsi EASY DE-CALC. Lampu DE-CALC akan padam.

Membersihkan tapak setrika

Bersihkan tapak setrika secara teratur untuk menghilangkan noda dari tapak setrika.

1Pasang steker ke stopkontak dinding yang memiliki arde dan tekan tombol on/off untuk menghidupkan pembuat uap dan biarkan hingga panas.

2Setelah sekitar 2 menit, tekan kembali tombol on/off untuk mematikan generator uap dan lepas steker dari stopkontak dinding.

3Letakkan sepotong kain katun yang lembab di atas meja setrika.

4Gosokkan setrika pada kain katun secara berulang untuk menghilangkan noda dari tapak setrika.

1Tekan tombol on/off untuk mematikan pembuat uap dan lepas steker dari stopkontak dinding.

2Lepaskan tangki air lepas-pasang dan kosongkan.

3Tempatkan setrika pada platformnya.

4Hanya tipe tertentu:Tekan pengunci untuk membawa yang ada di bagian ujung tapak setrika untuk mengunci setrika di platformnya.

5Lipat selang pasokan dan kabel listrik untuk disimpan di tempat penyimpanannya.
