5-Speaker Dolby® Pro Logic Surround Sound
System

Provide the current industry standard for home theater
sound from VCR and laserdisc movies. The front left and
right speakers deliver detailed, directional sound as the
center channel speaker "steers" dialogue/vocal sound to
where you see the mouth moving - at the TV screen.
Both surround speakers add a greater sense of depth
with special effects and time delay, making every living
room a home theater with spaceships overhead, aliens
behind the couch but no gum on the floor.

wOOx T echonology

Philips patented wOOx Technology ensures superior bass
results. The dual suspension bass radiator, together with
dedicated amplifier circuitry, is especially designed to produce
and handle high dynamic sound signals at very low
frequencies. Because of the dual suspension, the excursion
of the membrane can be extreme (see illustration). This is in
combination with the symmetrical sandwich construction,
provides for very low and precise bass without noticeable
distortion. The net effect of using wOOx Technology is a
tight bass sound that is significantly "lower and louder" than
conventional mini shelf systems.

3-Step wOOx Level Control

As the human ear does not perceive low frequencies at
the same level as higher frequencies (though at the same
"volume"), the bass sound needs to be enhanced to
achieve maximum impact. The wOOx is progressively
driven at different optimization levels in setting wOOx 1,
2 and 3.

2-Way Bass Reflex Speaker System

Equipped with one 6 1/2" woofer and one 2 1/2" ferro­fluid cooled tweeter. 2-way enclosures feature a wider
range of frequency response for greater listening
pleasure.

Magnetic Shielding

Left front, right front and center speakers are all
equipped with magnetic shielding to prevent interference
with color television picture tube purity.

The feature employs an auto reverse mechanism to
sense the end of the tape and automatically reverse the
direction of tape travel in the PLAY mode providing an

manually flipping the cassette tape.

45-Button Remote Control

This infrared remote control operates volume +/±, all
CD functions (POWER, NEXT, PREVIOUS, PLAY, STOP,
PAUSE, SHUFFLE, REPEAT, PROGRAM, CD123, CD
DIRECT 1,2,3, F and G), TV/AV, AUX/CDR select,
TUNER select, TAPE 1/2 select, CLOCK, AUTO REV.
select, DIM and sound enhancement features including
Personal setting select, Digital Sound Control, Virtual
Environment Control, Bass & Trebles Control, TIMER
ON/OFF, SLEEP, wOOx select, wOOx level select
and the Dolby® Prologic mode select, Test Tone select,

Easy Set

Press Standby `ON' for 5 secs to automatically program
40 tuner presets. (FM only)

Auto Store

Automatically stores up to 40 preset FM or AM stations .

40-track CD Random Program

Store up to 40 of your favorite CD track selections, from
one or multiple discs, to be played back in the order in
which they are programmed anytime you like.

Auto Record Level Control

Micro electronic circuitry constantly monitors the final
audio amplifier stage to insure accurate, distortion-free

Direct Source Selection

Automatically switch to a new source and pause the

Demo Mode
Functions always. Press 'STOP' for 5 secs to interrupt

Direct Play Button

Allows you to select and play any CD in the carousel by
touching only one button.

Change While Play

Flexiblility of changing 2 discs while still listening to the
third disc being played.

Shuffle One/All Discs

Plays all selections on a particular disc or multiple discs in
multi-disc players in random order, ignoring the
sequential order in which they were originally recorded.

Repeat track/disc/all

Repeat your favorite track, disc or all.

High-Speed Dubbing

High-speed dubbing makes it possible to create good
quality recordings (dubs) from one tape to another at
twice the normal speed in RECORD mode.

Clock/Timer and Sleeptimer

Set the alarm por tion of a built-in digital clock to wake you
to music from your favorite CD or an AM/FM radio station
at any desired time of the day. Sleeptimer settings of 60,
45, 30 or 15 minutes.

3 Dim Display modes (including nite mode)

2 different display options showing different amounts of display
activity can be selected and 1 nite mode display which shows
minimal display activity and turns most of the lights off.

Energy Saving Standby Mode (<2 watts)
Most systems consume 10-15 watts just on standby . Philips
systems consumes less than 2 watts of energy on standby for
big savings to the listener .
