Caution

-- Remove the adapter from the wall socket before you clean the charger.

-- Only charge the vacuum cleaner with the adapter and charger supplied. During charging, the adapter feels warm to the touch.This is normal.

-- Do not hold the appliance with the dust compartment pointing upwards and do not tilt the appliance to one side when you suck up liquids.

-- Always switch off the vacuum cleaner after use.

-- The voltage on the contact strips in the charger is low (max. 12 volts) and therefore not dangerous.

-- Never block the exhaust air openings during vacuuming. -- Switch off the appliance when you recharge it.

-- Always use the vacuum cleaner with the filter unit assembled.

-- When you have used the appliance to suck up liquids, empty and dry the dust compartment before you store the appliance in the charger.

-- To avoid the risk of electric shock, be careful when you drill holes in the wall to attach the charger, especially close to a wall socket.

Electromagnetic fields (EMF)

This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic fields (EMF). If handled properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on scientific evidence available today.

Preparing for use

Installing the charger

1 Attach the charger to the wall as shown in the figure. (Fig. 2)

If you attach the charger to the wall, the space between the screw holes has to be 12cm.

2You can also place the charger on a horizontal surface (e.g.a table or desk) (Fig. 3).

3Wind excess mains cord around the reel in the back of the charger and pass the cord through the slot (Fig. 4).

Charging the appliance

Charge the appliance for at least 16 hours before you use it for the first time.

Make sure the appliance is switched off. Put the adapter in the wall socket.

Place the vacuum cleaner on the charger (Fig. 5).

Make sure you place the opening in the back of the vacuum cleaner on the hook of the charger (Fig. 6).

The charging light goes on to indicate that the appliance is charging (Fig. 7).

Note:The charging light stays on as long as the appliance is in the plugged-in charger.

Note:The charging light does not give any information about the battery charge level of the vacuum cleaner.

Using the appliance

1Push the on/off slide forwards to switch on the appliance (Fig. 8).

2Push the on/off slide backwards to switch off the appliance (Fig. 9).

Accessories

The appliance comes with the following accessories: -- a brush tool to clean delicate surfaces;

-- a crevice tool to vacuum corners or narrow gaps; -- a squeegee to suck up liquid (FC6142 only).

1Take the accessory you want to use from the charger.

2Attach the accessory to the nozzle of the appliance (Fig. 10).

Sucking up liquid (FC6142 only)

1Connect the squeegee to the nozzle of the appliance.

2Hold the appliance with the nozzle pointing downwards at an angle of 30°.

Never hold the appliance with the nozzle pointing upwards when there is liquid in the dust compartment.

Do not tilt the appliance to one side or shake the appliance when there is liquid in the dust compartment. 

3Place the squeegee on the surface to be cleaned.

Make sure the squeegee stays in contact with the surface.

4Suck up the liquid.

Stop sucking up liquid when the liquid level inside the dust compartment has reached the maximum indication.

5Empty and dry the dust compartment each time you have used the appliance to suck up a liquid.

Cleaning

Always remove the adapter from the wall socket before you clean the charger.

1When you have used the appliance to suck up liquid (FC6142 only), always empty and dry the dust compartment after use.

2Clean the appliance and the charger with a damp cloth.

Emptying and cleaning the dust compartment (FC6145/ FC6144/FC6140)

Make sure you empty and clean the dust compartment regularly.

Quick cleaning

To empty the dust compartment quickly:

1Press the nozzle release button (1) and take the detachable nozzle off the appliance (2) (Fig. 11).

2Shake the contents of the dust compartment out into a dustbin (Fig. 12).

Thorough cleaning

1Hold the appliance over a dustbin, press the dust compartment release button (1) and remove the dust compartment (2) (Fig. 11).

2Remove the filter unit from the dust compartment (Fig. 13).

3Empty the dust compartment by shaking it with your free hand (Fig. 14).

4If necessary,clean the dust compartment with a damp cloth.

5If necessary,clean the filter unit.See section‘Cleaning the filter unit (FC6145/FC6144/FC6140)’.

6To reattach the dust compartment,align the slot on the dust compartment with the projection on the appliance.First attach the bottom of the dust compartment (1) and then push the top of the dust compartment towards the appliance (2) until it locks into place (‘click’) (Fig. 15).

Cleaning the filter unit (FC6145/FC6144/FC6140)

Make sure you clean the filter unit regularly.

1Turn the outer filter anticlockwise (1) and remove it from the filter holder (2) (Fig. 16).

Leave the inner filter attached to the filter holder.

2Clean the inner filter and the outer filter with a brush or with a normal vacuum cleaner if they are very dirty.

Note:If necessary ,you can clean the inner filter and the outer filter in cold or lukewarm water.Dry the inner and outer filter thoroughly before you use the filter unit again.

3Place the outer filter back onto the filter holder (1) and turn it clockwise to attach it (2). (Fig. 17)

4Put the filter unit back into the dust compartment (Fig. 18).

Note:Make sure you insert the filter unit in the correct way.

Emptying and cleaning the dust compartment and filter unit (FC6142)

Make sure you empty and clean the dust compartment and the filter unit regularly.

1Hold the appliance over a dustbin, press the dust compartment release button (1) and remove the dust compartment (2) (Fig. 19).

2Remove the filter unit from the dust compartment (Fig. 13).

3Empty the dust compartment by shaking it with your free hand (Fig. 14).

Note: If there is liquid in the dust compartment, empty the dust compartment and wipe it dry.

4If necessary,clean the dust compartment with a damp cloth.

5Turn the inner filter anticlockwise (1) and remove it from the outer filter (2). (Fig. 20)

Leave the inner filter attached to the filter holder.

6Clean the inner filter and the outer filter with a brush or with a normal vacuum cleaner if it is very dirty.

Note:If necessary,you can clean the inner filter and the outer filter in cold or lukewarm water.Dry the inner and outer filter thoroughly before you use the filter unit again.

7Put the inner filter back into the outer filter (1) and turn it clockwise to lock it (2) (Fig. 21).

8Put the filter unit back into the dust compartment (Fig. 18).

Note:Make sure you insert the filter unit in the correct way.

9To reattach the dust compartment,align the slot on the dust compartment with the projection on the appliance.First attach the bottom of the dust compartment (1) and then push the top of the dust compartment towards the appliance (2) until it locks into place (‘click’) (Fig. 15).

Storage

1You can store the vacuum cleaner and the accessories on the charger (Fig. 22).

Replacement

We advise you to replace the inner filter after a prolonged period of use or if you can no longer clean it properly.

Replacing the inner filter (FC6145/FC6144/FC6140)

1Remove the filter unit from the dust compartment (Fig. 13).

2Turn the outer filter anticlockwise (1) and remove it from the filter holder (2) (Fig. 16).

3Gently turn the inner filter anticlockwise (1) and remove it from the filter holder (2) (Fig. 23).

4Place a new inner filter on the filter holder (1) and turn it clockwise to attach it (2) (Fig. 24).

5Push the tip of the inner filter inwards (Fig. 25).

6Place the outer filter on the filter holder (1) and turn it clockwise to attach it (2). (Fig. 17)

7 Put the filter unit back into the dust compartment (Fig. 18).

Note:Make sure you insert the filter unit in the correct way.

Replacing the inner filter (FC6142)

1Remove the filter unit from the dust compartment (Fig. 13).

2Turn the inner filter anticlockwise (1) and remove it from the outer filter (2). (Fig. 20)

3Gently turn the inner filter anticlockwise (1) and remove it from the filter holder (2) (Fig. 23).

4Place a new inner filter on the filter holder (1) and turn it clockwise to attach it (2) (Fig. 24).

5Push the tip of the inner filter inwards (Fig. 25).

6Put the inner filter in the outer filter (1) and turn it clockwise to fix it (2). (Fig. 21)

7Put the filter unit back into the dust compartment (Fig. 18).

Note:Make sure you insert the filter unit in the correct way.

Environment

-- Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment (Fig. 26).

-- The built-in rechargeable batteries contain substances that may pollute the environment. Remove the batteries when you discard the appliance. Do not throw away the batteries with the normal household waste, but hand them in at an official collection point.You can also take the appliance to a Philips service centre.The staff of this centre will remove the batteries for you and will dispose of them in an environmentally safe way (Fig. 27).

Saving energy

If you are not going to use the appliance for a longer period of time, remove the adapter from the wall socket to save energy.

Disposing of the rechargeable batteries

NiMH batteries may explode when exposed to high temperatures or fire.

Only remove the rechargeable batteries if they are completely empty.

Remove the rechargeable batteries in the following way.

1Let the vacuum cleaner run until it stops,undo the screws and open the vacuum cleaner (Fig. 28).

2Cut the connecting wires one by one and remove the batteries (Fig. 29).

Klargøring

Installation af opladeren

1 Montér opladeren på væggen som vist på figuren. (fig. 2)

Hvis du monterer opladeren på væggen, skal der være 12 cm mellem skruehullerne.

2Du kan også placere opladeren på et vandret underlag (f.eks.et bord eller lignende) (fig. 3).

3Overskydende ledning rulles rundt om tapperne på bagsiden af opladeren,og ledningen føres ud gennem sprækken (fig. 4).

Opladning

Oplad apparatet i mindst 16 timer inden det tages i brug første gang.

Kontroller,at apparatet er slukket.

Slut adapteren til stikkontakten.

Placér støvsugeren i opladeren (fig. 5).

Sørg for, at du placerer åbningen bag på støvsugeren på opladerens krog (fig. 6).

Opladeindikatoren lyser for at vise,at apparatet oplades (fig. 7).

Bemærk: Opladeindikatoren forbliver tændt, så længe apparatet er sat i den tilsluttede oplader.

Bemærk: Opladeindikatoren indikerer ikke støvsugerens aktuelle batterikapacitet.

Sådan bruges apparatet

Opsugning af væske (kun FC6142)

1Sæt væskesugeren på apparatets mundstykke.

2Hold apparatet,så mundstykket peger nedad i en vinkel på 30°.

Hold aldrig apparatet med mundstykket pegende opad,når der er væske i støvkammeret.

Du må ikke vippe eller ryste apparatet,når der er væske i støvkammeret. 

3Placér væskesugeren på den overflade,der skal rengøres.

Sørg for, at væskesugeren forbliver i kontakt med overfladen.

4Opsug væsken.

Stop væskeopsugningen,når væskeniveauet i støvkammeret er nået op til maksimummærket.

5Tøm og tør støvkammeret,hver gang apparatet har været brugt til opsugning af væske.

Rengøring

Tag altid adapteren ud af stikkontakten,før du rengør opladeren.

1Støvkammeret skal altid tømmes og tørres,når apparatet har været brugt til væskeopsugning (kun FC6142).

2Rengør apparat og oplader med en fugtig klud.

Tøm og rengør støvkammeret (FC6145/FC6144/FC6140)

Sørg for at tømme og rengøre støvkammeret regelmæssigt.

2Tag filterenheden ud af støvkammeret (fig. 13).

3Tøm støvkammeret ved at ryste det med den frie hånd (fig. 14).

4Hvis det er nødvendigt,kan støvkammeret rengøres med en fugtig klud.

5Rengør eventuelt filterenheden.Se afsnittet“Rengøring af filterenheden (FC6145/FC6144/FC6140).”

6Sæt støvkammeret tilbage på plads,således at åbning og fremspring på henholdsvis støvkammer og støvsuger passer ind i hinanden.Sæt først støvkammerets nederste del fast (1),og skub derefter støvkammeret ind mod støvsugeren (2),så det fastlåses (klik) (fig. 15).

Sørg for at rengøre filterenheden jævnligt.

1Drej det udvendige filter venstre om (1),og tag det ud af filterholderen (2) (fig. 16).

Lad det indvendige filter sidde i filterholderen.

2Rengør det indvendige og udvendige filter med en børste eller med en almindelig støvsuger,hvis de er meget snavsede.

Bemærk: Hvis det er nødvendigt, kan du rengøre det indvendige og udvendige filter i koldt eller lunkent vand.Tør filtrene grundigt,før du anvender filterenheden igen.

2Tag filterenheden ud af støvkammeret (fig. 13).

3Tøm støvkammeret ved at ryste det med den frie hånd (fig. 14).

Bemærk: Hvis der er væske i støvkammeret, skal det tømmes og tørres.

4Hvis det er nødvendigt,kan støvkammeret rengøres med en fugtig klud.

1Tag filterenheden ud af støvkammeret (fig. 13).

2Drej det udvendige filter venstre om (1),og tag det ud af filterholderen (2) (fig. 16).

3Drej forsigtigt det indvendige filter venstre om (1),og tag det ud af filterholderen (2) (fig. 23).

4Sæt et nyt indvendigt filter i filterholderen (1),og drej det højre om for at fastgøre det (2) (fig. 24).

5Skub spidsen af det indvendige filter indad (fig. 25).
