We have tried to make the packaging easy to separate into three materials: cardboard (box), paper pulp (buffer) and polyethylene (bags, protective foam sheet .) Install batteries
Note
You can use both bat ter ies a nd AC powe r as power supply of th is apparatus.
Bat teries ar e not supplied wit h the accessories.
1 Open the battery compartment. 2 Inser t 6 bat ter ies (t ype: R14/ UM2/ C-cells) with correct
polar ity (+/-) as indicated.
3 Close the battery compartment.

Connect power
Warning

Play from iPod
You can enjoy audio from iPod through this unit.

Apple iPod models wi th a 30 -pin dock connector:

Play an iPod player
1 Lift to open the dock for iPod.

Charge the iPod
When iPod, TUNER , or MP3 LINK source is selected, the docked iPod begins to charge.
Listen to the radio
Tune to a radio station
1 Push the source selector to TUNER. 2 Push the band selector to FM or MW. 3 Turn TUNING to tune to a s tation.
Tip
Position the antenna as f ar as possib le from TV, VCR o r othe r radi atio n sour ce.
For opt imal r eception, fully extend and adju st th e position of the antenna.
Listen to an external device
You can listen to an MP3 player through this apparatus.
Note
When you connect an external dev ice to MP3 LINK jack, the apparatu s swi tches to MP3 LINK source au tomatically.
1 Use a 3.5mm plugs cable (not supplied) on both ends to
connect MP3 LINK jack (3.5mm) on this appar atus and the headphone jack on an MP3 player.

5 Play options
Adjust volume
1 During play, turn VOLUME to increa se/decrease the volume
level.
Enhance bass
1 Press DBB repeatedly to turn on/off dynamic bass
enhanceme nt.
When » DBB is activated, the DBB indicator turns blue.
Select play modes
Repeat
1 Press to play the current tr ack or all tracks repeatedly.
• [REP] (repeat) – repeat a track .
• [REP ALL](repeat all) - repeat an entir e CD/program.
Shufe
1 Press to play all tracks randomly.
• [SHUFFLE](shufe)-playtracksrandomly.
Program tracks
You can program a maximum of 20 tracks.
1 In CD mode , at the stop position, press PROGRAM to
activate the program mode.
2 Press / to select a track number, then press
PROGRAMtoconrm.
3 Repeat s teps 2 to 3 to program more tracks.

Maintenance
Clean the cabinet
Use a sof t cloth slightly moistened with a mild detergent • solution. Do not use a solu tion containing alcohol, spirits, ammonia or abrasives.
Clean discs
When a disc becomes dir ty, clean it with a cleaning cloth. • Wipe the disc from the centre ou t.

Do not use solve nts such as benzene, thinner, commercially • available cleane rs, or antist atic spray intended for analogue records.
Clean the disc lens
After prolonged use, dir t or dust may accumulate at t he disc • lens. To ensure good play quali ty, clean the disc lens with Philips CD lens cleaner or any commercially available cleaner. Follow t he ins tructions supplied with cleaner.
7 Troubleshooting
Warning
Never r emove the ca sing of this appar atus .
To keep the warranty valid, never try to repair the system yourself. If you encounter problems when using this apparatus, check the following points before requesting service. If the problem remains unsolved, go to the Philips web site (www.philips.com/welcome). When you contact Philips, ensure that the apparatus is nearby and the model number and serial number are available.
No power
Ensur e that the AC power plug of the unit is connected properly. Ensur e that ther e is powe r at the AC outlet.

Insert the bat ter ies with their polar ities (+/– signs) aligned as indicated. Replace the battery.
No sound
Adjus t the volume.
No response from the unit
Take out the batteries and turn on the unit again. Disconnec t and reconnect t he AC power plug, then turn on the unit again.
No disc detected
Insert a disc. Check if the disc is inser ted upside down. Wait until the moisture condensation at the lens has cleared. Replace or clean the disc. UseanalizedCDorcor rec tfor matdisc.
Poor radio reception
Increase t he dis tance bet ween the unit and your T V or VCR . Fully extend the FM antenna . Connect an outdoor FM antenna instead.
