If you contact Philips, you will be asked for the model and serial number of this apparatus. The model number and serial number are on the bottom of the apparatus. Write the numbers here:

Connect AC power

Caution
Risk of product damage! Ensure that the power

Warning
Risk of elec tr ic shock! When you disconnect
the AC power, always pull the plug from the socket . Never pull the cord.

Install batteries

Note
You can use both batteries and AC power as
power supply of this apparatus.
Batteries are not supplied with the accessories.
Open the battery compar tment.

Inser t 6 x 1.5V R14/UM-2/C-cell batteries

with correct polarity (+/-) as indicated.
Close the battery compartment.

You can play commercially available audio CDs:

Program play sequence

You can program up to 20 tracks in the desired sequence.
In stop mode, press PROG to start to

Listen to an external device

You can listen to an MP3 player through this apparatus.

Listen to radio

Switch the FM/MW selector to FM or

Turn TUNING+/- until you nd optimal

Tip
To im pr ove F M reception, you can ex t end,
incline or turn the telescopic antenna for best reception. To improve MW reception, tur n the apparatus
to face a different direction.

When you connect an external device to MP3
LINK jack, the apparatus switches to M P3 LINK source automatically.
Use a cable with 3.5mm plugs on both

ends (not supplied) to connect MP3 LINK jack (3.5mm) on this apparatus and the headphone jack on an MP3 player.

6 Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting

Warning
Never remove the casing of this appar atus.
To keep the warranty valid, never try to repair the system yourself.
If you encounter problems when using this apparatus, check the following points before requesting service. If the problem remains unsolved, go to the Philips web site (www.Philips. com/support). When you contact Philips, ensure that the apparatus is nearby and the model number and serial number are available.
No power
Ensure that the Mains cord is connected securely.
Ensure that there is power at the AC Mains.
Ensure that the batteries are inserted correctly.
No sound
Adjust the volume. Ensure that the track played is of a
compatible format.
Display does not function properly. No reaction to operation of any of the controls.
Disconnect the AC power cord.

Connect the AC power cord after a few

seconds.
Cannot play disc
Ensure that the disc label is inserted with the printed side facing up.
Wipe the disc with bre cleaning cloth from the centre to the edge in a straight line.
This disc may be defective. Play another disc.
Ensure that the CD is a nalised CD/ CD-R/CD-RW.
Ensure that the laser lens is clean. Ensure that the CD is not encoded with
copyright protection technologies.
The CD skips tracks
Ensure that the CD is not damaged or dirty.
Ensure that program/shufe mode is deactivated.
USB device or SD/MMC card not supported
The USB device or SD/MMC card is incompatible with the apparatus. Try another one.
