IMPORTANT NOTICE
PRINTER USAGE:
If you have a printer connected via the external CD-Recordable/
Rewritable drive, then be sure to always have it’s power switched on
when you want to use the printer.
Do NOT switch off the power to the external CDRecordable/ReWritable drive when the computer-system with this
device attached is fully booted and operational. This will cause the
computer to hang for a few minutes, when it is trying to use the
device which you switched off.
RECOMMENDATION.
If you do want to switch off the power to the external CDRecordable/ReWritable drive when the computer-system with this
device attached is fiilly booted and operational, then FIRST
disconnect the device from the system LOGICALY by using the
Connect-It utility provided, as follows;
• Locate the Connect-It icon in the right hand bottom of your
screen, and open it by double-clicking on it.
• Then disconnect the device by clicking on the ‘disconnect’ button
on your screen.
• After this successfully ended, you can switch off the drive.
NOTE:
You can later switch on the drive and use it again, by clicking on the
‘connect’ button on your Connect-It screen.
First check that the package contains following items:
• CDD3615 External CD-Recorder
• Cable for parallel (printer) port connection
• Software floppy disk
• Optional: mains AC power cable
INTRODUCTION
The CDD3615 External CD-Recorder consists of the CDD3610 Half
Height 5.25” CD-R/RW drive, built into a cabinet with power supply
and providing for parallel interface and other interconnection
options, e.g. audio line out etc.
This drive will operate on any standard PC or notebook computer
with a (standard) bi-directional parallel (printer) port connection.
If you have a printer connected already to your parallel port, then
you can continue to use the printer, by connecting the printer to the
second connector on this CD-Recorder drive.
ATTENTION
For general Operating Instructions on the CD-R/RW drive itself,
please refer to the CDD3610 User Manual included.
The CDD3615 CD-R/RW drive-cabinet has following features:
• Two parallel port connectors.
• Stereo RCA type audio line out for connecting up to an external
stereo set.
• Autosensing power supply (100 - 240 VAC).
• Low noise fan for cooling the Internal CDD3610 drive.
• Power on/off toggle switch.
Please refer to the sections 'Summary of controls and connections'
and 'Specifications' for more details.

SUMMARY OF CONTROLS AND CONNECTIONS
REAR VIEW
1. Power switch
2. Connector to computer
3. Audio Right, Left
4. Power inlet
5. Connector to printer
Item Explanation
1. Power switch (toggle) to apply power to the drive (if power is
switched on, then the power-LED on front of the drive will be on),
2. Parallel port connector, to be used for connecting to the parallel
(printer) port of the computer.
3. Right and Left stereo audio line out connectors, RCA type.
An external stereo sound system can be connected to these RCA
connectors, for amplifying the sound of discs played on the drive.
4. Power inlet (3 prong)
Use an appropriate mating power cable to connect the drive to
the mains AC power. The drive has an autosensing power sup
ply (100 - 240 VAC nominal, 50-60 Hz), so any voltage within that
range can be used.
Page 7
For USA; Use a UL listed cordset consisting of a minimum 18AWG, type SVT or
SJT three conductor cord, a maximum of 15 feet in length, and a parallel blade,
grounding type attachment plug rated 15A, 260 VAC.
For Europe: Use a cord consisting of a minimum (18 AWG) FI05-VVF cord and
grounding type attachment plug rated 16A, 250 VAC. The cordset should have
the appropriate safety approvals for the country in which the equipment will be
installed and should be marked FIAR.
5. Parallel port connector, to be used for connecting to an external
parallel printer. This is optional.
HARDWARE INSTALLATION
When you have unpacked the drive and the parallel printer port
cable, and the suitable mains cable (optional: please consult your
dealer), then follow next steps:
See figure page 6 for overview of a configuration.
1. Place the drive near your computer.
2. Use the parallel printer port cable to connect your drive to your
computer: put one end of the cable onto the drive (see figure of
REAR VIEW page 4, connector 2) and connect the other end of
the cable to the parallel (printer) port of your computer.
NOTE: If you have a printer already connected to the printer
port, then remove the printer cable from your computer and plug
this cable into the CDD3615 CD-Recorder drive (see figure of
REAR VIEW page 4, connector 5).
3. Connect the mains cable between your drive (see figure of
REAR VIEW page 4) and the mains AC wallplug.
NOTE: the drive will operate on any mains AC voltage, ranging
from 100 to 240 Volt.

4. Switch on the drive with the power switch before you switch on
your computer (see figure of REAR VIEW page 4 switcht) and
you are ready to install the software.

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
For Windows 95
Note: In case of problems with the EPP/ECP mode setting, please
check in the BIOS SETUP of your computer (see the manual of your
computer) that your parallel port is configured in EPP or ECP mode
according the list that is shown during installation of this device.
1. Put the first driver program disk into your floppy drive.
2. Double click on the “My Computer" icon
3. Double click on the "Control Panel".
4. Double click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon.
5. Click on "Install"
6. Follow the instructions of the setup program.
Note: After restarting your system, it is possible that the CD-R/RW
has another drive letter than after initial installation.
Note: To make a back-up recovery disk with the "Seagate( Backup"
program, it is necessary to install the DCS drivers with installation
disk 3. This backup program will prompt you with the question where
it can find the drivers epatcd.sys and aspicd.sys. They can be found
(after the DCS-installation) in the folder C:\EPEZ.

Protection
The power supply in the unit is protected against:
- over-power situations, recovery after power situation is
corrected.
- over-voltage situations, by an internal fuse.
- short circuit, recovery after short is corrected on the primary
side.
On the secondary side, i.e. the +5 VDC and +12 VDC used for the
internal drive, the power supply will simply shutdown in case of a
short circuit; until the error condition causing it is relieved.

0.6 A Max. at 230 VAG input (max.load)
2 A / 250 VAC on board
(accessible for service personnel only)
Over-voltage will blow a Zener diode. Both the fuse and the Zener
are accesable for authorised personal only.
