The clock radio is suitable for connection to a 220 V, 50 Hz power supply (for Great
Britain 240 V. 50 Hz). As soon as the mains plug is put into the wall socket, the
numbers on the display will start to flash. This means that you must set the correct
time.
To disconnect the set from the mains completely, withdraw the mains plug from
the wall socket.
For FM reception there is an aerial wire at the rear of the clock radio. This wire must
be extended and if necessary adjusted slightly in order to obtain good reception.
The AM aerial is built into the clock radio. To obtain optimum reception you may
have to adjust the positioning of the clock radio slightly.
• You can connect a pair of stereo or mono headphones with 3.5 mm plug to the
• Open the cassette holder and insert a blank cassette.
• Press • RECORD to start recording. You can now leave a message. The
MESSAGE indicator (g) comes on.
• You can interruptthe recording by pressing the II PAUSE button. Press again
to continue recording.
• Press ■ STOP.EJECT to stop recording.
• The MESSAGE indicator ® remains lit to indicate that there is a message
waiting. If there is no need for the indicator to remain iit, or if the message has
been played, you can switch off the MESSAGE indicator by pressing the
RESET button ®.
• Press • RECORD. The set will now start recording at the set alarm time. Do
not forget that the recording cannot be longer than the time available on the
cassette.

SLUMBER
The clock radio has a built-in slumber function. This function enabies you to listen
to the radio or a cassette or to continue recording before you fail asleep. You will
not have to switch off the set yourself. This will take place automatically.
slumber time
59 minutes If you wish to slumber for 59 minutes, proceed as follows:
shorter If you wish to slumber for less than 59 minutes, proceed as follows;
longer If you wish to slumber for more than 59 minutes (the maximum is 1 hour and 59
slumber off You can switch off the set before the slumber time has elapsed:
The time you listen to the radio before you fall asleep is called slumber time. The
on, the siumber function will not work, because the set simply remains
switched on.
— The slumber function does not affect the alarm.

POWER FAILURE
flashing As soon as the power supply returns, the numbers on the display will start to flash.
As soon as a power failure occurs, the complete set will be switched off.
This indicates that you must set the correct time on the clock.
You can insert a 9 volt battery (6F22) in the set. Should there be a power failure,
01the clock will continue to function. You will not see this, however, because the
battery does not illuminate the clock display. As soon as the power is switched on
again, the display will indicate the correct time.
For the sake of clarity; Alarm, radio, cassette recorder and display do network
on battery.
• Before inserting the battery, insert the plug into the wall socket.
• Place the battery in the compartment on the underside of the set (see
diagram).
recommendation Replace the battery once a year, it is not possible to say precisely how long the
MAINTENANCE
battery will last. The service life depends on how often and for how long the power
supply fails. This varies according to country and region.
— If you do not intend to use the set for a long time, it is better to remove the plug
from the wall socket, it is also advisable to remove the battery from the set.
This will prevent any danger of leakage and the clock radio will not be damaged.
— Fingerprints, dust and dirt on the set should be removed using a clean and
damp soft cloth or chamois leather. When cleaning do not use any products
which contain abrasive agents or solvents (benzine, thinner, alcohol etc.).
These might affect the housing.
— Rain, damp and extreme heat may damage the set. For this reason it should
not be placed in direct sunlight or close to heating elements for any period of
time.
— Clean the parts of the cassette recorder indicated in fig.3 after every 50 hours
of operation or, on average, once a month.
• Open the cassette holder by pressing ■ STOP.EJECT.
• Use a cotton bud slightly moistened with alcohol or a special head cleaning
fluid.
• Press ► PLAY and clean the rubber pressure roller (d) (fig.3).
Cleaning of the heads ® and @ can also be done by playing the cleaning
cassette SBC 114 through once as an ordinary cassette.
