POWER SUPPLY
Battery (not included)
• Open battery door and insert two alkaline batteries, type R6, UM3 or AA as indicated inside the compartment.
• Remove the batteries from the set if they are exhausted or not to be used for a long time.
Batteries contain chemical substances, so they should be disposed of properly.
RADIO RECEPTION
1. Turn VOLUME/ POWER OFF clockwise to switch on the radio.
• You will hear a small click when switching on.
2. Adjust the volume level with VOLUME/ POWER OFF.
3. For personal listening, connect headphones with a 3.5 mm plug to
the p socket.
• The built-in speaker will then be muted.
4. Adjust the band switch to FM/MW or LW to select your waveband.
5. Tune to the desired radio station by turning the TUNING wheel.
For FM, pull out the telescopic aerial. Reduce its length if the FM signal is too strong (very close to a transmitter).
For MW (or LW), the set is provided with a built-in aerial. Turn the whole set to find the best position.
6. T o switch off the set, turn VOLUME/ POWER OFF anti-clockwise until you hear a small click.

MAINTENANCE
• Use a soft damp cloth to wipe off dust and dirt. Don't use benzene or corrosives to clean the set.
• Don't expose the set to rain, moisture, sand or to excessive heat e.g. cars parked in direct sunlight.
TAKE CARE WHEN USING HEADPHONES
Hearing Safety:
Listen at a moderate volume. Use at high volume can impair your hearing!
Traffic Safety:
Do not use headphones while driving or cycling as you may cause an accident!

• The packaging has been minimized so that it is easy to separate into two materials: cardboard and plastic. Please observe the local regulations regarding the disposal of these packaging materials.
• Please inquire about local regulations on how to hand in your old set for recycling.

TROUBLESHOOTING
If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the set for repair. If you are unable to remedy a problem by following these hints, consult your dealer or service centre.
WARNING: Under no circumstances should you try to repair
the set yourself, as this will invalidate your guarantee.
No power /sound
– Wrong battery polarity
• Insert batteries correctly
– Batteries exhausted
• Replace batteries
– Volume is turned down
• Turn up volume
– Headphones still connected for speaker option
• Disconnect headphones
Poor sound
– Headphones plug not fully inserted
• Insert plug fully
Severe radio hum/distortion
– FM aerial not fully extended
• Extend FM aerial fully
– Set too close to TV, computer, etc.
• Move set away from other electrical equipment
The model number can be found at the back of the set
and the production number in the battery compartment.
