most memorable moments together. Your PetSafe® Bark Collar is designed to safely and humanely eliminate
nuisance barking.

We know that safe pets make happy owners. Before getting started, please take a moment to read through
the important safety information. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

be referred to collectively as “We” or “Us”.

Explanation of Attention Words and Symbols used in this Guide

This is the safety alert symbol. It is used to alert you to potential personal injury hazards. Obey all
safety messages that follow this symbol to avoid possible injury or death.

WARNING indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in
death or serious injury.

CAUTION, used with the safety alert symbol, indicates a hazardous situation which,
if not avoided, could result in minor or moderate injury.

if not avoided, could result in harm to your pet.

Do not use this product if your dog is aggressive, or if your dog is prone to aggressive behaviour. Aggressive
dogs can cause severe injury and even death to their owner and others. If you are unsure whether this product
is appropriate for your dog, please consult your veterinarian or a certified trainer.

There is a risk of explosion if a battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Do not short circuit, mix old and new
batteries, dispose of in fire or expose to water. When batteries are stored or disposed, they must be protected
from shorting. Dispose of spent batteries properly.

This product is not a toy. Keep it away from the reach of children. Use it only for its bark stopping purpose.

• Proper fit of the collar is important. A collar worn for too long or made too tight on the pet’s neck may cause
skin damage ranging from redness to pressure ulcers. This condition is commonly known as bed sores.

• Avoid leaving the collar on a pet for more than 12 hours per day.

• When possible reposition the collar on the pet’s neck every 1 to 2 hours.

• Regularly recheck the fit to prevent excessive pressure; follow the instructions in this manual.

• You may need to trim the hair in the area of the contact points. However, never shave the dog’s neck; this
may lead to a rash or infection.

• Never connect a lead to a collar with contact points. It will cause excessive pressure on the contact points.

• When connecting a lead to a separate collar, do not allow it to put pressure on the receiver collar.

• Wash the dog’s neck area and the contact points of the collar weekly with a damp cloth.

• Examine the contact area daily for signs of a rash or a sore.

• If a rash or sore is found, discontinue using this product until the skin has healed.

• If the condition persists beyond 48 hours, see your veterinarian.

• For additional information on bed sores and pressure necrosis, please visit our website.
This product is only for use with healthy pets. If you’re not certain that your pet is in good health, we
recommend that you take your pet to a veterinarian before using this product.

How it Works

The PetSafe® Bark Collar has 15 levels of static stimulation. It begins with low-level stimulations. If excessive
barking continues, the stimulation intensity will increase with each successive bark until the barking stops.
Once the dog has learned to reduce the barking, the initial warning stimulations are reduced. As a built-in
safety feature, if your dog barks 15 times or more within a 1 minute 20 second period, the bark collar will
automatically shut off for 3 minutes.

Insert and Remove the Battery

1. Turn the battery door anti-clockwise a ¼ turn using the test light tool

or a coin (1A).

2. Insert the 6 volt alkaline battery, negative (–) end first (1B).

3. Replace the battery door turning clockwise a ¼ turn. Do not

overtighten (1C).

4. This Bark Collar utilises a replaceable PetSafe® RFA-18 6 volt

alkaline battery. A replacement battery can be found at many
retailers. Contact the Customer Care Centre or visit our website at
www.petsafe.com.

Battery Life

Average battery life is 3 to 6 months, depending on how often your dog
barks. However, due to greater use during your dog’s training, your first
battery may not last as long as replacement batteries. Be sure to discard
the spent battery properly.

Two-Color LED

The two-color LED indicator shows good or low battery. Good battery
is indicated by 1 flash every 5 seconds with green LED. Low battery is
indicated by 3 flashes every 5 seconds with the red LED. If there are no
LED lights it is time to change the battery.

To Turn the Collar On

Charging Port

Power/LED

Press and hold the power button until you hear a low to high beep and
the green LED appears, and then release. The green LED will flash once
every 5 seconds.

To Turn the Collar Off

Press and hold the power button until the bark collar beeps high to
low, and then release. The red LED will be illuminated during the button
press and will turn off when the bark collar turns off.

Quick Tip: When not using the collar, turn it off to preserve
battery life.

Fit the Collar

Important: The proper fit and placement of the bark collar
is important for effective operation. The contact points must
have direct contact with your dog’s skin on the underside of
his neck.

1. Make sure that the collar is turned off.

2. Start with your dog standing comfortably (2A).

3. Place the collar on your pet so that the PetSafe
and the collar is directly under your dog’s chin. Centre the contact
points underneath your dog’s neck, touching the skin (2B). NOTE: It

is sometimes necessary to trim the hair around the contact points
to make sure that contact is consistent. However, you should never
shave your pet’s neck as this may increase risk of skin irritation.

4. Check the tightness of the collar by inserting one finger between the
end of a contact point and your dog’s neck (2C). The fit should be
snug but not constricting.

5. Allow your dog to wear the collar for several minutes, and then
recheck the fit. Check the fit again as your dog becomes more
comfortable with the collar.

Do not shave the pet’s neck as this may increase the risk of skin
irritation. The collar should not be worn for more than 12 hours out of
every 24-hour period. Leaving the collar on too long could lead to
skin irritation.

Temperament Learning

Temperament Learning tracks the number of stimulations needed to substantially reduce (and in most cases)
eliminate the number of nuisance barks. The collar starts at the lowest stimulation level and increases the
intensity with each successive bark until the barking stops. This stimulation level becomes the starting level the
next time the dog barks. Once your dog has learned to reduce this barking, the initial warning stimulations are
automatically reduced.

NOTE: As a built-in safet y feature, if your dog barks 15 times or more within an 80 second period, the
bark collar will automatically shut off for 3 minutes.

Reset the Stimulation to Level 1

1. Power the collar on. Wait 5-10 seconds or until the first green LED flash.

2. Press and hold the on/off button.

3. Continue holding through the red LED and power off tone.

4. The green LED will flash 5 times to confirm the stimulation level has been reset to level 1.

5. Release the on/off button. The bark collar will now be powered off.

Test the Collar

1. Begin with the collar off.

2. Push and hold the power (on/off) button. The collar will beep and the LED will illuminate green. Release
the power button after the beep.

3. The green LED will flash twice. Push and hold the on/off button. The LED will illuminate red.

4. Continue to press the on/off button until the collar beeps. The LED will turn off. Continue to press the on/
off button.

5. The blue LED will appear to indicate the collar is now in Test Mode.

6. Release the on/off button. The collar will beep, once for each level of stimulation, up to level 15. Then, it
will sound the normal power off tone and turn itself off.

7. The test can be stopped at any time by pressing the on/off button.

What to Expect During Use

Important: Do not leave your dog alone the first few times he receives a stimulation.

Place the collar properly on your dog and wait nearby until he barks. Most dogs will understand very quickly that
the collar is disrupting their urge to bark and will relax and stop barking. Because the static stimulation may be
surprising or startling at first, some dogs may bark more at the initial stimulation.

On rare occasions, a dog may begin barking at the stimulation. If this happens, reassure your dog with a calm
voice. As your dog relaxes, he will understand that if he becomes quiet, he will not receive any more static
stimulations. Dogs that have this reaction typically will only have it the first time they wear the bark collar.

You should notice a reduction in your dog’s barking within the first couple of days that he wears the bark
collar. At this point, it is important to remember the learning process is still not complete. Dogs will “test” this
new learning experience and may increase their attempts to bark. This usually occurs during the second week
a dog wears the bark collar. If this does occur, remain consistent and do not alter your use of the bark collar.
You must place the bark collar on your dog in every situation when you expect him to be quiet. If your dog is
not wearing the bark collar, he may resume barking and his learning will suffer a setback.

• Your pet should be at least 6 months old before using the bark collar. The
collar may be too large for dogs under 3.6 kg.

• The bark collar is safe and effective for most breeds and sizes of dogs,
though it may be too large for dogs under 3.6 kg to wear comfortably.

• No. This can result in pulling the contact points too tightly against your
dog’s neck. Attach a lead to a separate, non-metallic collar or a harness,
making sure the extra collar does not put pressure on the contact points.

packaging and at your own cost and risk to the relevant Customer Care location together with proof of purchase for
a full refund.

2. Proper Use

Proper Use includes, without limitation, reviewing the entire Product Manual and any specific safety information
statements. The specific temperament or size/weight of your pet may not be suitable for this product. If you
are unsure whether this product is appropriate for your pet, please consult your veterinarian or certified trainer
prior to use. For products used with pets where training is desired, Radio Systems Corporation recommends that
these training products are not used if your pet is aggressive and accepts no liability for determining suitability in
individual cases.

3. No Unlawful or Prohibited Use

This product is designed for use with pets only. This product is not intended to harm, injure or provoke. Using this
product in a way that is not intended could result in violation of Federal, State or local laws.

4. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall Radio Systems Corporation or any of its associated companies be liable for (i) any direct, indirect,
punitive, incidental, special or consequential damage and/or (ii) any loss or damages whatsoever arising out of
or connected with the use or misuse of this product. The Purchaser assumes all risks and liability from the use of this
product to the fullest extent permissible by law.

5. Modification of Terms and Conditions

Radio Systems Corporation reserves the right to change the terms, conditions and notices governing this product
from time to time. If such changes have been notified to you prior to your use of this product, they shall be binding on
you as if incorporated herein.

Australia/New Zealand – In compliance with the Australian Consumer Law, Warranties Against
Defects, effective January 1, 2012, warranty details of this Product are as follows: Radio Systems Australia
Pty Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Radio Systems”) warrants to the original retail purchaser, and not any
other purchaser or subsequent owner, that its Product, when subject to normal and proper residential use,
will be free from defects in material or workmanship for a period of three (3) years from the purchase date.
An “original retail consumer purchaser” is a person or entity who originally purchases the Product, or a gift
recipient of a new Product that is unopened and in its original packaging. When serviced by Radio Systems
Customer Service, Radio Systems covers labour and parts for the first three years of ownership; after the
first three years, a service or upgrade charge will apply relative to replacement of the Product with new or
refurbished items at Radio Systems’ sole discretion.

The limited warranty is non-transferable and shall automatically terminate if the original retail consumer
purchaser resells the Radio Systems Product or transfers the property on which the Radio Systems Product is
installed. This Limited Warranty excludes accidental damage due to pet chews; lightning damage; or neglect,
alteration, and misuse. Consumers who purchase products outside of Australia, New Zealand, or from an
unauthorised dealer will need to return the Product to the original place of purchase for any warranty issues.

Please note that Radio Systems does not provide refunds, replacements, or upgrades for change of mind, or
for any other reason outside of these Warranty terms.

To file a claim, a proof of purchase must be provided. Without a proof of purchase, Radio Systems will not
repair or replace faulty components. Radio Systems requests the Consumer to contact the Radio Systems
Customer Care Centre to obtain a Warranty Return number, prior to sending the Product. Failure to do so may
delay in the repair or replacement of the Product.

If the Product is deemed to be faulty within 30 days from date of original purchase, Radio Systems will
organise for a replacement to be sent in advance of returning the faulty Product. A Post Bag will be included
with the replacement Product for the return of the faulty Product. The Product must be returned within 7 days

of receiving the replacement. If the Product is deemed to be faulty after 30 days from the date of original
purchase, the consumer will be required to return the Product to Radio Systems at the consumer’s own
expense. Radio Systems will test and replace the faulty unit or its components and return to the consumer free
of charge, provided the Product is within its said warranty period. This warranty is in addition to other rights
and remedies available to you under the law. Radio Systems goods come with guarantees that cannot be
excluded under the Australia Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure
and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the
goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a
major failure.

Battery Disposal

• Separate collection of spent batteries is required in many regions. Check the regulations in your area
before discarding spent batteries.

• At the end of the product life, please contact one of our Customer Care Centres to receive instructions on
proper disposal of the unit. Please do not dispose of the unit in household or municipal waste.

• For a listing of Customer Care Centre telephone numbers in your area, visit our website at www.petsafe.com.

Important Recycling Advice

Please respect the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations in your country. This equipment must be
recycled. At the end of the product life, do not place it in the normal municipal waste system. Please check the
regulations in your area or return it to where it was purchased so that it can be placed in our recycling system. If
these options are not possible, please contact the Customer Care Centre for further information.

• Vous aurez peut-être besoin de tailler les poils dans la zone des contacteurs. Cependant, ne rasez jamais
le cou de votre chien, car cela risquerait de provoquer des irritations ou une infection.

• N’attachez jamais de laisse à un collier muni de contacteurs. Cela exercerait une pression excessive sur

Fonctionnement

Le collier anti-aboiements PetSafe® comporte 15 niveaux de stimulation électrostatique. Au début on utilise de
faibles niveaux de stimulation. Si les aboiements continuent, l’intensité de la stimulation augmentera jusqu’à ce
que les aboiements cessent. Une fois que le chien a appris à réduire ses aboiements, les stimulations initiales
d’avertissement sont réduites. Grâce à une fonction de sécurité intégrée, si votre chien aboie 15 fois ou plus
en moins de 1 minute et 20 secondes, le collier anti-aboiements s’arrête automatiquement pendant 3 minutes.

Pour installer et retirer la batterie

1. Tournez le couvercle du compartiment à pile d’un ¼ de tour dans le
sens antihoraire à l’aide d’une clé multifonctions ou d’une pièce de
monnaie (1A).

2. Insérez la pile alcaline de 6 volts, en plaçant l’extrémité négative (–)
en premier (1B).

3. Remettez le couvercle du compartiment à pile en place en le
tournant d’un ¼ de tour dans le sens horaire. Ne pas serrer de
manière excessive (1C).

4. Ce collier anti-aboiements utilise une pile alcaline remplaçable
PetSafe® RFA-18 de 6 volts. Vous trouverez des piles de rechange
chez de nombreux revendeurs. Contactez le Service clientèle ou
consultez notre site web à l’adresse www.petsafe.com.

Autonomie de la batterie

L’autonomie moyenne de la batterie est comprise entre 3 et 6 mois selon
la fréquence à laquelle votre chien aboie. Cependant, en raison d’un
usage répété lors du dressage de votre chien, il se peut que la première
pile ne dure pas aussi longtemps que les piles de rechange. Éliminez
convenablement la batterie usagée.

Voyant lumineux bicolore

Le voyant lumineux bicolore indique si la batterie est bonne ou faible.
Lorsque la pile est chargée, la LED verte clignote 1 fois toutes les
5 secondes. Lorsque la batterie est faible, la LED rouge clignote 3 fois
toutes les 5 secondes. Si la LED ne s’allume pas du tout, il est temps de
changer la pile.

Pour mettre le collier en marche

Port de charge

Appuyez sur le bouton de mise en route et maintenez-le enfoncé
jusqu’à entendre un bip progressif et que la LED verte apparaisse puis
relâchez-le. La LED verte clignote toutes les 5 secondes.

Pour arrêter le collier

Appuyez brièvement sur le bouton de mise en route jusqu’à ce que le
collier anti-aboiements émette un bip sonore dégressif et relâchez-le.
La LED rouge reste allumée pendant le temps que le bouton est enfoncé
et s’éteindra lorsque le collier anti-aboiements sera arrêté.

Petite astuce : arrêtez le collier lorsqu’il n’est pas utilisé pour
prolonger l’autonomie de la batterie.

Ajustement du collier

Important : il est important que le collier anti-aboiement
soit bien ajusté et mis en place pour garantir son bon
fonctionnement. Les contacteurs doivent être directement en
contact avec la peau de votre chien, au niveau de la partie
inférieure du cou.

1. Assurez-vous que le collier soit arrêté.

2. Votre chien doit être en position debout (2A).

3. Positionnez le collier de dressage sur votre animal de façon à ce
que le logo PetSafe® soit visible à l’endroit et que le collier se trouve
directement sous le menton de votre chien. Centrez les contacteurs
en dessous du cou de votre chien, en contact avec la peau (2B).

REMARQUE : il est parfois nécessaire de tailler les poils autour
des contacteurs pour garantir un contact efficace. Toutefois,
vous ne devriez jamais raser le cou de votre chien, car cela peut
augmenter le risque d’ irritation de la peau.

4. Vérifiez l’ajustement du collier en insérant un doigt entre l’extrémité
d’un contacteur et le cou de votre chien (2C). Le collier doit être
bien serré, mais sans excès.

5. Laissez votre chien porter le collier pendant quelques minutes, puis
contrôlez à nouveau l’ajustement. Vérifiez également le réglage au
fur et à mesure que votre chien s’habitue au collier.

Ne rasez pas le cou du chien, car cela peut augmenter le risque
d’irritation de la peau. Le collier ne doit pas être porté plus de
12 heures par période de 24 heures. Le port prolongé du collier
risque d’entraîner une irritation de la peau.

Apprentissage basé sur le tempérament de l’animal

ENFRNLESITDE

L’apprentissage basé sur le tempérament de l’animal enregistre le nombre de stimulations nécessaires pour
réduire de façon substantielle des aboiements gênants et les éliminer totalement (dans la plupart des cas).
Le collier commence par le niveau de stimulation le plus faible et augmente l’intensité à chaque aboiement
successif jusqu’à l’arrêt des aboiements. Ce niveau devient le niveau de stimulation de départ lors du prochain
épisode d’aboiements. Une fois que le chien a appris à réduire ses aboiements, les stimulations initiales
d’avertissement sont réduites automatiquement.

REMARQUE : par mesure de sécurité, le collier anti-aboiements s’éteint automatiquement pendant
3 minutes si votre chien aboie 15 fois ou plus sur une période d’une minute et vingt secondes.

Réinitialiser le niveau de stimulation sur 1

1. Allumer le collier. Attendre 5 à 10 secondes ou jusqu’à ce que la première LED verte clignote.

2. Appuyez sur l’interrupteur marche/arrêt et maintenez-le enfoncé.

3. Continuer à maintenir la LED rouge et éteindre la tonalité.

4. La LED verte clignote 5 fois pour confirmer que le niveau de stimulation a été réinitialisé au niveau 1.

5. Relâcher l’interrupteur marche/arrêt. Le collier anti-aboiements sera à présent éteint.

Test du collier

1. Commencez par le collier en position désactivée.

2. Appuyez sur l’interrupteur marche/arrêt et maintenez-le enfoncé. Le collier émettra un bip sonore et la
LED verte s’allumera. Relâchez le bouton de mise en route après le bip sonore.

3. La LED verte va clignoter deux fois. Appuyez sur l’interrupteur marche/arrêt et maintenez-le enfoncé. La
LED rouge s’allume.

4. Continuez à appuyer sur l’interrupteur marche/arrêt jusqu’à ce que le collier émette un bip sonore. La LED
s’éteindra. Continuez à appuyer sur l’interrupteur marche/arrêt.

5. La LED bleue apparaît pour indiquer que le collier est à présent en mode test.

6. Relâcher l’interrupteur marche/arrêt. Le collier émet un bip sonore, une fois pour chaque niveau de
stimulation, jusqu’au niveau 15. Il va ensuite émettre la tonalité habituelle d’arrêt et s’arrêter.

7. Le test peut être interrompu à tout moment en appuyant sur l’interrupteur marche/arrêt.

Comment se passe l’utilisation

Important : ne laissez pas votre chien seul les quelques premières fois qu’il reçoit
une stimulation.

Placez le collier correctement sur votre chien et restez à côté jusqu’à ce qu’il aboie. La plupart des chiens
comprennent très rapidement que le collier anti-aboiements perturbe leur besoin d’aboyer ; ils se détendent et
cessent alors d’aboyer. En raison de l’effet de surprise de la stimulation électrostatique les premières fois, certains
chiens peuvent aboyer plus au début de la stimulation électrostatique.

En de rares occasions, un chien peut se mettre à aboyer au début de la stimulation. Si cela se produit,
rassurez votre chien sur un ton calme. À mesure qu’il se détendra, votre chien comprendra que s’il reste calme,
il ne reçoit plus de stimulations électrostatiques. Les chiens qui ont cette réaction ne doivent réagir de cette
façon que la première fois qu’ils portent le collier anti-aboiements.

Vous devriez remarquer une diminution des aboiements de votre chien au cours des premiers jours d’utilisation
du collier anti-aboiements. À ce stade, il est important de se rappeler que le processus d’apprentissage n’est
pas terminé. Les chiens vont « tester » cette nouvelle expérience d’apprentissage et pourraient augmenter

leurs tentatives d’aboiement. Ceci se produit généralement au cours de la deuxième semaine d’utilisation du
collier anti-aboiements. Si cela se produit, restez cohérent et n’interrompez pas l’utilisation du collier anti­aboiements. Vous devez placer le collier anti-aboiements sur votre chien à chaque fois que vous attendez de
lui qu’il reste calme. Si votre chien ne porte pas le collier anti-aboiements, il peut reprendre ses aboiements et
son apprentissage peut être retardé.

pour les chiens de moins de 3,6 kg et ne soit pas confortable.

• Non. Les contacteurs risqueraient alors d’exercer une pression trop forte
sur le cou de votre chien. Attachez une laisse à un collier ou un harnais
non métallique distinct en vérifiant que le collier supplémentaire n’exerce
aucune pression sur les contacteurs.
