NOTE: Installation of this product requires an adequate workspace, general mechanic’s tools,
general mechanical “know-how” and a reasonable degree of experience. Most auto enthusiasts
with these resources will have little difficulty installing these headers. However, you should
carefully read these instructions before attempting to install this exhaust. If in doubt, consult a
professional mechanic. (Better to do it now than to get stuck halfway through the installation.)
By installing your JBA Performance Exhaust product, you indicate that you have read this document and agree with the following terms.
The Purchaser is responsible for following all installation instructions and safety guidelines supplied with JBA Performance Exhaust products.
Included with your installation instructions is a copy of the product warranty. Please read it carefully before you begin any work on your vehicle.
Be sure to work safe! Whenever you work under the vehicle be sure that it is located on level,
solid ground and is supported by adequate safety stands! Remember: Hot asphalt will not support most jack stands!
Many factors affect the installation of exhaust, some of which are broken or aftermarket motor
mounts, accidents that impact the configuration of the frame, and/or the installation of different
engines or aftermarket cylinder heads.
DISASSEMBLY
1. Place vehicle in a location where the floor is solid and flat, with adequate lighting. Do not attempt to work on
a hot engine. Heat causes metal to expand and makes removal of fasteners difficult at best.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
3. If a lift is not available, raise the front of the vehicle 2 feet or higher to obtain adequate access to the bot-
tom exhaust manifold flanges. Use large-base jack stands to support the vehicle. Do not rely on the jack!
Block the tires to prevent the vehicle from rolling off the jack stands.
4. Apply penetrating oil on all accessible fasteners and fittings before attempting to remove them
5. Remove the stock exhaust from the truck. It may be easier to cut the stock tailpipe where it goes over the axle
to facilitate removal
6. Unbolt the factory exhaust from the Y pipe at the two bolt clamp in front of the mufer.
7. Cut the inlet pipe that goes into the mufer at a distance of 6” from the end of the pipe.
8. Re bolt the cut pipe and stock ange to the factory Y Pipe.
9. Slip the JBA Muffler and 3”U Bolt Clamp over the cut portion of the pipe. Snug, but do not tighten.
10. Slide one 3” U Clamp over the left side outlet of the muffler.
11. Slide the 3” U Bolt clamp with attached hanger over the right side outlet and insert the hanger into the stock
rubber muffler hanger.
12. Slip the twin tailpipe assembly into the mufer outlets.
13. Install the 3/8-16X1 1/2” hex bolt with a washer through the hole in the rear spring eye bracket.
14. Install the rubber isolator onto the welded hangar bracket on the tail pipe. Then slip the isolator over the 3/8
bolt and secure using the fender washer and 3/8-16 nut.
15. Manipulate the tailpipes and mufflers so that they are level from the passenger side of the truck. When you
are satisfied with the position tighten all the clamps, making sure that the tips stay aligned as you do.
16. Clean the tips of any dirt or ngerprints before starting the truck.
17. Start the truck and listen fro leaks, tighten as necessary.
18. After 100 miles recheck all fasteners. It is recommended that you have all slip connections tack welded to
ensure they do not come loose.
