INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Step.1 Remove your existing Speedometer. Most will have a bracket
on the back similar to the one on Precision Star. Simply remove
the two nuts to release the bracket and pull the speedometer
out. Remove the Pitot Tube from the old one and clamp the
tube well so it cannot leak.
Remove any old wiring including the light bulb from the old
unit. (It is not required)
Step.2 Install the Precision Star in the dash and secure using the
bracket and nuts.
Step.3 Wiring – Install the color coded wires as follows. You can use
the supplied “ring terminals” or you can “splice” or “butt
splice” the wires based on your boat wiring. Ensure the wires
are securely attached.
RED- The RED wire must be connected to a continuous 12v
source. This could be secured to the Red wire off the ignition
post or some other suitable source. (Red wires in a boat supply
continuous voltage)
PURPLE – This wire requires a switched 12v source. Most boats
will have a Purple wire at the ignition terminal and at the back
of your gauges if they are powered when key is turned on.
(Purple in a boat represents a switched source)
BLACK – This must be connected to any suitable Ground
location.

Testing
Turn key on and Precision Star should immediately light up and show speed
as 00.
Upon initial start up, if the unit has a clear view of the sky (outdoors) it will
take on average less than 4 minutes or so to gain a “Fix” in your area.
(When the time solidly appears on the screen the GPS has gained a “Fix”).
Future starts will take just seconds to gain a “Fix”.
If a fix is not made in 5 minutes, re-power and try again.
