Function
The double-ended cordset with integrated
EMC filter includes a second-order low-pass
filter made up of inductors and capacitors.
The two uncoupled coils achieve good damping of low-frequency, symmetrical differential mode noise in the operating voltage. Such
noise may occur as harmonics in power supplies or converters and, like the operating current, has opposite polarity. Above the cut-off
frequency of approximately 10 kHz, the ideal
dampening is 40 dB/decade and can be specified in real terms as 50 dB in the range of
100 kHz to 30 MHz. By contrast, asymmetrical common mode noise is not dampened.
