QuickStart Guide
Before You Begin
Before you connect and configure your system:
l
Update your new VideoXpert™ Software to the latest version, which is available at
www.pelco.com.
l
Ensure that the Microsoft OS on each computer on your system, including this server, has the
latest updates that address the most current known vulnerabilities. You can find this information at
www.microsoft.com.
On a continual basis:
l
Frequently update the OS to ensure newly discovered vulnerabilities are patched as soon as a
patch is available.
l
Frequently update anti-virus libraries with the latest patches.

Setting Up Your System
1. Unpack the server.
2. Connect the system and its peripherals.
Note:
You must connect a network cable from one of the ports to the VXNetwork.
3. Connect the system to an electrical outlet.
4. Power on the system by pressing the power button on the front panel.
Setting up the VideoXpert Core™ and/or Media Gateway™
Caution:If you have more than one CMG to add to the VideoXpert System, perform this process
for one CMG, and then perform the steps in the section titled Adding the VideoXpert™ to an
Existing VideoXpert System™for the other CMGs that are being added to the system.
1. Obtain and make a note of the IP address for the VideoXpert Core Media Gateway (CMG).
2. Open VxToolBox.
3. Click the VX System drop-down menu.
4. Click Add a VX System.
The Add a new VXSystem dialog box opens.
5. In the Server Address field, type in the IP address of the CMG (from step 1). If you are using SSO,
this value must be the FQDN, and not the IP address.
6. In the Admin Username and Password fields, type "admin".
7. If an SSL/TLS certificate has been uploaded and configured, click to select the checkbox for
Check SSL/TLS Certificate... to validate the certificate.
8. Click Add.
9. When prompted to do so, change the password.
10. Type in the Company Name and a name for the VideoXpert System.
11. Under the VxMediaGateway Address, type in the IP address of the CMG (from step 1), and then
click Save Settings.
Adding the VideoXpert™ to an Existing VideoXpert System™
Use VxToolbox™ to add another VideoXpert to the VideoXpert System:
1. Obtain and make a note of the IP address for the VideoXpert CMG.
2. Open VxToolBox.
3. Click on the System tab.
4. Click to select the checkbox for Multiple VideoXpert Cores.
a. Enter a value in the VideoXpert Core Virtual IP Address field. If you are using SSO, this value
must be the FQDN, and not the IP address.
b. Enter a value in the VideoXpert Core Address field.
5. Click to select the checkbox for Multiple VxMediaGateways.

a. Enter a value (associated with the initial VxMediaGateway IP Address) in the
VxMediaGateway IP Address field.
b. Enter a value for another gateway in the new VxMediaGateway Address field.
6. Click Save Settings.
