2.0 SCOPE
4.1 MOUNTING
The information within this manual covers the installation of the HS2500 High Security Camera Enclosure.
3.0 DESCRIPTION
The HS2500 is a high security camera enclosure designed for indoor use in applications such as elevators,
parking garages, stairwells, detention cells or other areas requiring maximum protection from vandalism. The
HS2500 fits flush to the ceiling in a corner, but can be
mounted lower on the wall and still retain it’s effectiveness. The enclosure is supplied with an impact-resistant clear Lexan window. Options include a smoked
window, thermostatically controlled heater kit (120
VAC/24 VAC) and 3-1/2" (8.89 cm) square, 12 watt, 8
ohm speaker for optional audio surveillance.
Constructed of medium gauge steel, the HS2500 will
accept many of the smaller CCD cameras with fixed
focal length lenses and auto-iris lenses. There is no exposed mounting hardware securing the HS2500 to its
mounting surface. Opening the enclosure can only be
accomplished by removing the tamper-resistant screws
from the bottom and lifting the hinged cover.
4.0 INSTALLATION
Before installing the HS2500 to a wall, make certain
that the mounting surface is able to support the full
weight of the enclosure plus the camera and lens.
To mount the enclosure to a wall, follow the steps outlined below.
1.Open the enclosure by unscrewing the two tampruf
screws at the bottom and lifting the cover. A special
socket tool is provided (fits 1/4" square drive).
2.Using the mounting bracket as a template, mark
and drill holes in the mounting surface.
3.Attach the enclosure with the required fasteners.
4.Route the required cables through the back.
5.If you have purchased the optional smoked window and/or heater kit, proceed to Sections 4.2 and/
or 4.3.
6.Mount the camera/lens to the tilt table according
to the instructions in Section 4.4.
4.2 OPTIONAL WINDOW
INSTALLATION
The HS2500 is provided with a clear Lexan 1/4" (.63
cm) thick viewing window. An optional smoked window is available.
Instructions for installing the optional smoked window
are as follows:
The tilt table and tilt table mounting brackets may be
removed to provide adequate clearance for mounting
the enclosure.
NOTE: The six (6) fasteners required to secure the HS2500 to a wall (minimum 3/8"
(.95 cm) diameter recommended) are not supplied.
2PELCO Manual C486M-B (9/95)

4.Remove the protective coatings from the new window and place the window over the four (4) 1/4-20
studs.
The HK8000 and HK8024 heater kits require 117 VAC

heat which is thermostatically controlled to activate ON
at 40°F (4.44°C) and OFF at 60°F (15.56°C)
The following cable sizes are the minimum recommended for use with heater kits.

4.5 TAMPER SWITCH WIRING
5.0 CARE AND MAINTENANCE
The HS2500 is equipped with a tamper switch mounted
on the access door. This switch can be used as an alarm
closure to trigger an audible alarm and/or visual display on a monitor, indicating unauthorized intrusion of
the enclosure.
The tamper switch comes with wiring connections consisting of 1/4" (.63 cm) quick connect terminals. It still
offers a “NORMALLY OPEN” and a “NORMALLY
CLOSED” contact as indicated on the switch body. In
addition, a “pull to cheat” feature allows the technician
to disable the audible alarm (in the case of the HS2500/
SPKR model) while having the door open for maintenance.
Maintenance performed at regularly scheduled intervals will help prolong the operational life and appearance of the equipment.
Clean the Lexan window with a mild non-abrasive detergent in water and a soft cloth regularly to help maintain picture clarity. For a heavily soiled window, use
vinyl cleaner.
CAUTION: When a single power source is
used for both the camera and accessories, the
camera power consumption must be taken into
consideration when determining the wire gauge.
Also, make certain that all electrical connections are done properly and meet electrical
codes.
